Tom Herman has landed another blue-chip recruit, this side on the defensive side of the ball. 2021 cornerback Ishmael Ibraheem has committed to the Longhorns over schools such as Alabama, LSU, Georgia, Oklahoma, and Texas A&M.
Rated a four-star on 247Sports, Ibraheem is the 171st ranked player on the 247Sports composite. A top 30 player within the state of Texas, he is also the 13th ranked cornerback in the 2021 class.

Texas’ 2021 class continues to grow, as they are up to 12 commits now. Ibraheem is the fourth-highest rated in the class, coming in with an overall score of 0.9266 on 247Sports’ composite.
Ibraheem had been predicted to commit to Texas since early May. With Herman and defensive backs coach Jay Valai being Ibraheem’s main recruiters, the Longhorns were able to add to their rich traditions of defensive backs.
Texas further distances themselves as the top recruiting class in the Big 12 with Ibraheem’s commitment. The Longhorns continue to be the only conference team to have a five-star commit in Ja’Tavion Sanders. Baylor and Oklahoma lurk behind Texas, but the Longhorns have a solid lead in the Big 12 recruiting battle for now.
