Texas is targeting four-star defensive end from Virginia

Texas recently offered four-star defensive end Kelvin Gilliam out of Virginia in the 2021 recruiting class.

It’s clear that Texas has made it a priority to strengthen the defensive line.

Five-star defensive end Alfred Collins out of the 2020 class was one of the highest-rated recruits in the Tom Herman era, while five-star defensive end Ja’Tavion Sanders has already committed to the Longhorns out of the 2021 class.

The next man up to continue this trend could be defensive end Kelvin Gilliam out of Highland Springs, Virginia. Texas offered Gilliam on Tuesday night, joining a list of respectful programs such as Michigan, Oklahoma, and Penn State.

Gilliam is currently a four-star prospect and the No. 4 overall player in the state of Virginia. According to 247 Sports Composite, he’s listed as the No. 112 prospect in the nation from the 2021 class.

The 6-2, 250-pound playmaker has great hands and is a smart player with a high motor. The Longhorns have lacked the ability to get after the quarterback for the past several seasons, adding a third highly-rated recruit on the defensive line could substantially improve the unit as a whole.
