Texas is now targeting 2021 three-star OT Max Merril

Texas is hoping to find another diamond in the rough with three-star offensive tackle Max Merril.

Texas knows all too well that three-star offensive lineman can have incredible collegiate careers.

Take a look at left tackle Samuel Cosmi for example. He was a three-star prospect out of Humble who didn’t receive a long list of major offers, but he’s now widely projected to be a first-round selection in the 2021 NFL Draft.

Texas is hoping to find their next diamond in the rough with offensive tackle Max Merril. The Longhorns extended an offer to the Houston native on Monday.

The 6-foot-4, 273-pound offensive lineman attends Strake Jesuit and is a top 100 overall prospect in the state of Texas out of the 2021 recruiting class. Merril has received offers from Boise State, Indiana, Louisville, Arizona, SMU, Kansas and Navy. At the time, it appears Texas is the most significant offer that he’s received.

After striking out on the Brockermeyer twins, three-star center Michael Myslinksi and and four-star tackle Hayden Conner are the only offensive lineman commitments in Texas’ 2021 class.
