Texas has one of the top college football facilities in the country

247Sports recently released their rankings of the top college football facilities in the country for 2021.

Everything is bigger in Texas.

One of the primary factors of a young athletes decision on where to attend college to continue their playing career centers around what type of facilities the school provides.

Of course you have to take into consideration what the program offers as a whole, but don’t discount the role that facilities and location play when it comes to narrowing down a highly-touted prospects decision.

On Wednesday, Brad Crawford of 247Sports released his rankings of the top facilities across the college football landscape. Here’s what he had to say about the Longhorns recent renovations.

The Longhorns upgraded Darrell K. Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium’s 11-year-old ‘Godzillatron’ above the south end zone in August 2017 with new, brighter video displays. At the time, it was the fourth-largest scoreboard in college football. New player lockers was the best addition in the Big 12 in 2018 with each locker featuring 43-inch monitors with player measurables and highlights costing just over $10,000 (per locker). “New-age” player lockers became a thing five years ago with digital names and likenesses and are a necessity to keep up with others in recruiting. When a program hosts a visit, you want the player to see it all. The Longhorns broke ground in May on the $175 million south end zone project next spring that will turn DKR into arguably the nation’s most technologically-enhanced venue in America.

Steve Sarkisian has coached at both the college and NFL levels, therefore he’s experienced a little bit of everything. Shortly after helping Alabama win the national championship in January, Sarkisian arrived in Austin and was wowed when he stepped foot into Darrell K. Royal-Texas Memorial Stadium.

Even while empty, the stadium is a pretty sight.
