Can Alan Bowman pick up where Jett Duffey left off
In the last two matchups between these two teams, Jett Duffey was the quarterback of record. He transferred out so there isn’t a chance he will be playing. Bowman is the starter and will play in this game for the first time. The junior quarterback is talented but can he stay healthy for Texas Tech? That is the big question.
In his absence, Duffey put up 843 yards passing with six touchdowns and one interception. He also added 80 yards rushing in the 2018 game in Lubbock. Bowman isn’t the runner that Jett was but that doesn’t mean he isn’t capable of tucking the ball and running. He is known more as a passer. Against Houston Baptist, Bowman threw for 430 yards and two touchdowns. He did have one picked off.
With weapons like T.J. Vasher, KeSean Carter and Erik Ezukanma the Texas secondary will be tested. The question is can Bowman do enough in the air in this game to keep it close and give Tech the opportunity for a top 10 upset in the Big 12 opener?
