Texas Football: Six standouts from the Orange-White spring game

Several Longhorns made strong impressions on Saturday.

We were treated to our first glimpse of the 2023 Texas Longhorns in Saturday’s Orange-White spring game.

The White team defeated the Orange team 21-10 behind a strong effort from quarterback Quinn Ewers and the wide receivers.

Running backs Cedric Baxter and Jaydon Blue scored touchdowns for the White team. Georgia transfer AD Mitchell reeled in a highlight touchdown from Ewers at the end of the half.

Maalik Murphy and Johntay Cook provided the Orange team a spark in the second half. The two connected on a beautiful 79-yard touchdown in the third quarter. Running back Savion Red looked to be a playmaker in the backfield for the Orange team as well.

Steve Sarkisian was pleased with how the scrimmage played out. His team showcased its offseason development and the Horns came out injury free.

Saturday gave us a rough idea of who could have a significant impact on the team in the fall. Here is a look at six Longhorns who stood out on Saturday.
