Texas Football: One Game Circled for The Longhorns

Recently 247 Sports came out with their lone game circled for every projected top 25 team, for the Longhorns that game wasn’t Oklahoma.

The other half of the equation is for the Oklahoma Sooners. The long-time rivals for Texas has been a thorn in the side of the Longhorns as of late but Texas still leads the all-time series 62-48-5. However, Oklahoma has won their last two matchups with one of those being in the Big 12 Championship game in 2018. Texas is 3-8 since the beginning of 2010 but with the start of a new decade, it is time for the Longhorns to get off on the right foot in 2020.

Number 7: Oklahoma (vs Texas)

The Sooners were also on the list at number seven and their game to circle? Of course it was against the Texas Longhorns. Over the last decade it has been the Sooners with the advantage but could things change in 2020? Only time will tell. There will be no shortage of storylines for this game in the upcoming season.

The difference will be that head coach Lincoln Riley won’t have another transfer quarterback leading the charge after Jalen Hurts, Kyler Murray and Baker Mayfield were the previous three. Likely starter will be Spencer Rattler. The eventual-sophomore quarterback is projected to be the starter and he will get his first taste of the rivalry. A highly-touted prospect who was ranked as the best pro style quarterback of the 2019 recruiting class.  While Ehlinger will be the experienced senior.

This game will likely decide which of these two schools will be one half of the Big 12 Championship game. Or it come full circle at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas as the two schools could meet for a re-match much like they did in 2018. Whether its the LSU or Oklahoma games, these are the two biggest matchups for the 2020 season, as of right now.
