Texas football fans think that Urban Meyer would be the savior of the Longhorns’ program

It didn’t Texas long to be back in this cycle, but here we are. The Longhorns think Urban Meyer would be their savior of a head coach.

It didn’t Texas long to be back in this cycle, but here we are.

The Longhorns needed to win out after suffering early season losses to TCU and Oklahoma in order to make the Big 12 Championship game. They found a way to win unexpectedly against Oklahoma State, but Texas lost a heartbreaker to Iowa State on Saturday.

After the 2015 season, Texas got rid of Charlie Strong after three seasons and a 16-21 record, including a loss to Kansas. The Longhorns quickly moved to Tom Herman, thinking he was the right man to lead Texas back.

Texas won a Sugar Bowl in a huge win against Georgia in the 2018 season under Herman, but the other three seasons have left a lot to be desired. His first year, the Longhorns went 7-6. His third year, Texas went 8-5 and in 2020, the Longhorns can go, at best, 7-3 against a Big 12 only schedule and a win against UTEP.

And now it seems Herman’s tenure could be over in Austin, Texas. Texas fans have already made their minds up, and they want Urban Meyer to replace Herman as fast as possible.

Oklahoma has won five straight Big 12 championships and are on the verge of winning its sixth straight. The Longhorns have won two Big 12 championships in 24 years. Since the 2009 season, Texas has a 78-60 overall and produced sub-.500 seasons three times.

Despite that, Texas’ fans think Meyer would be the savior of their football program. Here are tweets from Longhorns’ fans showing that:
