We almost had an announcement date for the 2023 Big 12 football schedule. Then, we didn’t have one.
UCF athletic director Terry Mohajir appeared to break news on Friday, insinuating that the Big 12 would announce its football schedule on Tuesday.
Not long after, Mohajir backtracked stating, “Okay! Not so fast! Schedule release date coming soon! Still finalizing some moving parts!”
Elsewhere, Joseph Duarte of the Houston Chronicle indicated the schedule would be released January 17 as well.
Duarte gave insight into when the Houston Cougars could play the Texas Longhorns. According to the Houston Chronicle beat writer, the former rivals are expected to meet in mid-to-late October.
Later, reports surfaced that the schedule release will happen by the end of the month.
The lack of communication and transparency from the conference is notable, but if the conference is to be believed Texas will know its schedule by February. That is, unless the conference encounters more “moving parts.”
