One of the most storied brands in college football is being talked about in a manner that no one really wants to be.
Unfortunately for the young men from Texas that entered the 2022 NFL draft, not a single one of them heard their name called for one of the 262 picks. While most of them were able to sign as undrafted free agents shortly after the draft concluded, it has caused many to question what happened to Texas.
Many national media outlets are calling it what it is, and that is an utter failure by the coaches of the past. Texas was included among 247Sports‘ losers of the draft after not producing a single pick. Here is what they said about the Longhorns:
While this year’s draft didn’t go as planned, the Longhorns will surely have success in the near future. However, in order to get players drafted and recruits wanting to come to Texas it will need to be soon. It is hard to promise recruits that they can go pro at Texas if the program is consistently not producing.
It is up to Sarkisian and his staff to make sure that this doesn’t happen again, and winning games with good performances would likely be the easiest cure.
