With the AP poll being released on Monday, college football is closer than we think. In just 12 days, Week 0 will kickoff with Nebraska and Illinois on Aug. 28.
However, before playing the actual games, we must argue about preseason polls online.
After breaking the top 20 in the USA TODAY Sports AFCA Coaches poll, Texas was not viewed as highly in the eyes of the media. The Longhorns debut at No. 21 in the AP poll, the lowest of any Big 12 team ranked.
As suspected, Oklahoma is the highest-rated conference team, coming in at No. 2. Iowa State is not far behind at No. 7, with in-state rival Texas A&M just one spot ahead of the Cyclones. Oklahoma State just missed the cut, being the first team out of the poll.

Texas’ season opener against Louisiana is now officially a ranked matchup. This will mark the first time since 1984 the Longhorns open the season with both teams ranked.
Both the ACC and the Big 12 are tied for the fewest ranked teams out of the Power Five conferences with three.
