Texas Basketball: Longhorns drop in latest Ferris Mowers Coaches Poll

After losing to No. 24 Oklahoma and canceling their game with Kentucky, Texas men’s basketball falls in the latest Ferris Mowers poll.

The Texas men’s basketball program has struggled over the last week.
First, head coach Shaka Smart announced that he had tested positive for COVID-19 and had to miss the team’s first matchup with their arch-rival Oklahoma Sooners.

Unfortunately, that led to the Longhorns losing a close game last Tuesday in Austin 80-79 to the Sooners. The unlucky news continued after the heartbreaking loss when it was announced that their game against Kentucky was canceled. Smart’s squad now sits at 11-3 (5-2), second in the Big 12.

As a result, Texas dropped one spot in the latest Ferris Motors Coaches Poll from No. 5 to No. 6, switching spots with the Houston Cougars (15-1) following their blowout victories over Tulane and SMU.
