Texas Basketball hands Kansas worst home loss under Bill Self

The Texas Longhorns men’s basketball team had a huge task with the No. 5 ranked KU team. They dominated the game with a huge win 84-59.

Despite all of the news swirling around the Texas Longhorns football program, the men’s basketball team made a statement in a huge game with the Kansas Jayhawks.

The Longhorns were led on this day by guard Courtney Ramey who led the team with 18 points, four rebounds, and two assists. He also led the team with three shots from beyond the arc. As a team, they made 12 three-point shots on 26 attempts. Jericho Sims added to a huge performance with a double-double. He finished with 11 points and 12 rebounds, Sims even added one blocked shot. He was a presence on the glass in this game.

The Jayhawks were led by Jalen Wilson’s 20 points and seven rebounds. Kansas as a whole had a putrid shooting night with 30.8% shooting on the day. They were also just 3-23 from beyond the arc, while Texas shot a sizzling 49.8% from the field.

This marked the first win by Texas in Lawrence under head coach Shaka Smart. It was also a career-worst performance for the squad under Bill Self as they suffered the worst loss at home since he became the head coach.

Perhaps Shaka Smart growing out his hair was the right choice as they have been off to a hot start this year.

The Longhons had five players scoring in double-digits for this historic win. Their second in Lawrence, Kansas ever.
