Texas among top schools for No. 1 tight end in 2025 recruiting class

Five-star tight end Davon Mitchell has narrowed down his recruitment.

Texas head coach Steve Sarkisian and his staff are targeting the top tight end in the 2025 recruiting class.

Five-star tight end Davon Mitchell narrowed down his recruitment to five schools over the weekend. Texas made the cut alongside Oklahoma, Miami, Texas A&M and Alabama.

Mitchell is rated the No. 1 tight end in the country for the 2025 recruiting class and the No. 3 prospect in California, according to On3 Sports. Nationally, he ranks as the No. 31 recruit.

The reason that these 5 schools were chosen is because they are the ones who talk to me the most and the schools that I could see myself going to. Those schools also have a great way of using their tight ends and I also have a good relationship with those coaches. – Davon Mitchell

Ja’Tavion Sanders’ success in Austin could bode well for the tight end position at Texas for the foreseeable future.
