Steve Sarkisian’s 2022 recruiting class at Texas has a chance to be special.
The Longhorns have received five commitments in Sarkisian’s first full recruiting class thus far including five-star quarterback Maalik Murphy and four-star running back Jaydon Blue.
Four-star cornerback Austin Jordan could be among the impressive group. Jordan is considered a top-20 player in the state of Texas and attends the same high school (Denton Ryan) as Texas signee Ja’Tavion Sanders.
The 5-foot-11, 185-pound playmaker released his top 10 schools on Monday and three Big 12 programs made the short list. The Longhorns will be competing alongside Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Ohio State, Georgia, Notre Dame, Penn State, USC, Texas A&M, and Auburn.

Jordan mentions in the announcement that his recruitment is wide open for the time being. According to 247Sports, it appears that Ohio State, Oklahoma, and Texas have been pushing the hardest for the Denton Ryan product.
However, former Texas cornerbacks coach Jay Valai is listed as the primary recruiter for Jordan, therefore Blake Gideon and Terry Joseph will have to form a strong relationship with the highly-touted prospect.
