Texas A&M All-American high jumper Lamara Distin earns NCAA honors after breaking the Indoor high jump record at SEC Indoor Championship

Texas A&M’s talented high jumper Lamara Distin was named NCAA Track & Field Athlete of the Week after breaking the NCAA Indoor high jump record.

Distin has been an elite high jumper for the past few years and on top of being NCAA Champions she represented Jamaica in the international competition. She made history during the SEC Indoor Championship last month when she became the first women’s collegian to clear the bar at the height of 2.00m/6-6.75′.

Now, with the SEC indoor championship complete, Distin is the 2024 Bowerman Watch list front-runner and focus on the NCAA Indoor Championship that will take place in Boston this weekend. She currently holds both the Indoor and Outdoor high jump records at Texas A&M and is in the top five all-time in the NCAA record book.
