Texas A&M’s 2024 season ended in a 17-7 loss at the hands of rival Texas in the final week of the regular season, as head coach Mike Elko’s first season was still successful in many ways.
With the offseason already underway, Elko and his staff officially added 25 players in the 2025 recruiting class during Wednesday’s Early Signing Day, including five-star prospects in offensive tackle Lamont Rogers and elite wide receiver Jerome Myles.
However, Elko is once again tasked with adding veteran talent from the transfer portal in a similar fashion to last offseason. Nearly every position group, especially wide receiver, and D-line needs added depth and playmakers with plug-and-play upside.
Within the transfer portal, ten players have entered. Every departure makes sense, including pass rushers Malik Sylla and Enai White, who have dealt with many injuries during their Aggie careers. However, it’s important to note that just because these players have entered the portal doesn’t mean they’ll leave the program.
While looking toward the 2025 season is nice, the reality is that the Aggies came up short in November, finishing 1-3, while Texas will face Georgia in the SEC Championship game during the Longhorns’ first season in the conference.
