Texas A&M could pursue Ohio State’s Ryan Day

The Athletic’s Bruce Feldman thinks that, if Day loses to Michigan again, he could be willing to hear out an offer.

Ever since Texas A&M fired Jimbo Fisher, reports have circled that the Aggies could make some of the biggest names in college football turn them down. The Athletic’s Bruce Feldman thinks Ohio State coach Ryan Day could be high on their list.

Day has spent five full seasons as the head coach of the Buckeyes. He’s won 56 of his 62 games at the helm of the Ohio State program, and he’s made three College Football Playoff appearances in the past four seasons. So why in the world would he ever leave Columbus?

“The specter of back-to-back losses to the hated archrival Michigan hangs heavy over Columbus,” Feldman said on Big Noon Kickoff. “The Aggies, I think, are optimistic that, if (Ohio State doesn’t) win that game, that he might be open to their pitch.”

Feldman did not make the argument on whether or not Day would actually take the job, but he thinks the Aggies will at least call.
