The Longhorns went nearly a decade between Colt McCoy and the next competent quarterback in Sam Ehlinger.
Now that Steve Sarkisian is in charge, Texas was able to bring in former five-star and perfectly rated quarterback Quinn Ewers and is in great position to land 2023 five-star quarterback Arch Manning. However, they will likely not have a chance to bring in the 2024 five-star and No. 1 overall recruit, quarterback Dylan Raiola.
The Chandler, Arizona product took to Twitter on Monday to announce his commitment to Ohio State.

Raiola is currently one of the three quarterbacks in the class of 2024 that the Longhorns have offered, which unless they can convince him to flip, will narrow their options down to five-star Julian Sayin or four-star Jadyn Davis.
While this may seem like a minuscule issue due to the fact the Longhorns have Ewers and four-star Maalik Murphy on the roster, in this day and age you can never have enough talent especially with the transfer portal as rampant as it is. It is also vital for a program like Texas who has been struggling for years to have consistency, to be able to have talented quarterbacks continue the success that the one in front of them started.
Sarkisian is a quarterback guru, and will have plenty of time to recruit one of the previously mentioned players, but as of now Raiola is headed to Columbus.
