Former Ohio State Buckeye wide receiver, Terry McLaurin, has been named a captain of the Washington Football Team. McLaurin is in just his second year with the NFL franchise and has emerged as the team’s No. 1 receiver.
Washington safety, Landon Collins, had held one of the captain’s honors but was sustained a season-ending injury in last week’s game and the role needed to be filled. McLaurin was voted unanimously to take Collins’s place as a team captain. Head coach Ron Rivera described his receiver’s captainship as “a very well-earned honor.”
McLaurin has been one of the feel-good stories of the NFL over the last year and a half. The ceiling wasn’t seen as very high coming out of Ohio State in 2019, but McLaurin’s stock started to rise in pre-draft workouts. Washington took a chance and drafted McLaurin in the third round, No. 76 overall of the 2019 NFL draft.

McLaurin is again having another excellent campaign in year two hauling in 43 receptions for 577 yards and two touchdowns so far in 2020. Things seem to be working in Terry McLaurin’s favor and it couldn’t have happened to a better person. Congratulations young man!
