Tennessee-Michigan: The all-time men’s basketball series

A look at the all-time basketball series between Tennessee and Michigan.

Tennessee (28-7) will play Michigan (19-14) in the second round of the NCAA Tournament Saturday at Gainbridge Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, Indiana.

Tipoff is slated for 5:15 p.m. EDT and the game will be televised on CBS.

The Volunteers, a No. 3 seed in the South region, advanced to the second round of the the tournament with an 88-56 victory over Longwood.

No. 11 Michigan erased a halftime deficit to upset No. 6 Colorado State, 75-63, Thursday.

Saturday’s meeting between Tennessee and Michigan is the 12th in the all-time series, which dates back to 1958.

The teams last met in Indianapolis during the 2014 NCAA Tournament. Michigan defeated Tennessee, 73-71.

On March 18, 2011, Michigan defeated the Vols, 75-45, during the NCAA Tournament in Charlotte, North Carolina.

The Wolverines have won all four games during the series in Ann Arbor (1959, 1960, 1974 and 1985).

The Vols have won four games in Knoxville (1960, 1966, 1975 and 1984).

Tennessee won the 1958 matchup in Kent, Ohio.
