Tennessee Titans finish atop AFC South in PFF 2020 NFL season simulation

If PFF’s simulation comes to fruition in 2020, the Titans will finish with a very familiar record.

The Tennessee Titans looked like they were going to tank at the beginning of the 2019 season, opening the year with an overall record of 2-4.

But then, the Titans decided to hand the reins at quarterback over to Ryan Tannehill, marking the beginning of a turnaround the team never really looked back from.

Between Tannehill and running back Derrick Henry, the Titans pieced together a nearly unstoppable offense and played complementary football to propel them all the way to the AFC Championship Game.

The Titans fell 35-24 to the Kansas City Chiefs in that one, but will look to expand upon that success in 2020.

Based on Eric Eager of Pro Football Focus’ simulation of the 2020 season, the Titans will be in the driver’s seat of the AFC South when all is said and done.

The Titans have a projected win total of 9.2, which would mean a 9-7 finish for the fifth straight year. That projection would also have the Titans hitting the over on their 8.5 over/under win total, per BetMGM.

Behind them in the AFC South in projected wins are the Indianapolis Colts (8.2), Houston Texans (7.9) and the Jacksonville Jaguars (6.2).

The Titans are used to entering the season doubted, and rightfully so, given the amount of underwhelming finishes they’ve delivered in recent history.

Tennessee appears to be on the brink of becoming a regular postseason contender heading into the year, but only time will tell if they can build upon the team’s 2019 run.
