KNOXVILLE – Jordan Allen enters his redshirt senior season at Tennessee in 2020.

The 6-foot-4, 241-pound Allen changed positions following the 2019 campaign, going from linebacker to tight end.

Allen transferred to Tennessee from City College of San Francisco ahead of Jeremy Pruitt’s first season as the Vols’ head coach in 2018. He appeared in nine games as an outside linebacker and on special teams, recording six tackles and one pass defection in 2018.

2019 saw Allen battling injury as he underwent hip flexor surgery.

City College of San Francisco head coach Jimmy Collins discussed Allen moving to tight end with Vols Wire.

“Jordan did not play tight end for us,” Collins said. “He was exclusively a defensive end. I think he will have a smooth transition. He is a great athlete.”

Allen has a history on offense, playing wide receiver at Armijo High School. As a senior he totaled 50 receptions and eight touchdowns. Allen caught nine touchdowns as a junior.

Offensively, Collins said Allen has the ability to “play inline, off the ball and split out.”

Collins played quarterback for City College of San Francisco in 2005 before transferring to Portland State. At Portland State he played quarterback for head coach Jerry Glanville and legendary offensive coordinator Mouse Davis.
