ROUND ROCK — The 2020 college baseball season is in its second weekend and the University of Tennessee has already captured a signature win.
The Volunteers kept its perfect record intact with a 6-2 victory over No. 1 and previously undefeated Texas Tech Friday night in the inaugural Round Rock Classic.
Tennessee (5-0) entered the game against the Red Raiders (4-1) leading the Southeastern Conference in home runs with eight round-trippers.
The Diamond Vols hit three more Friday night as Jordan Beck and Jake Rucker left the yard, while Zach Daniels legged out an inside-the-park dinger to open the scoring in the contest.
Chad Dallas started on the mound and improved to 2-0 on the year. He went five innings and gave up two runs, five hits and two walks while posting a career-high eight strikeouts.
Sean Hunley went four innings and picked up a save.
