Tar Heels move up in AP Top 25 poll for final regular season week

The UNC basketball program moved up in the latest Associated Press Top 25 poll after beating Duke.

North Carolina’s win over Duke to close out the 2023-24 Atlantic Coast Conference regular season was big for a few reasons. Not only did it win them the regular season title outright but it also helped out their chances for a No. 1 seed in the NCAA Tournament.

As the Tar Heels prepare for the ACC Tournament this week, they will do so as the No. 4 team in the country.

The Tar Heels moved up in the latest Associated Press Top 25 poll that was released on Monday. They are up three spots from No. 7 to No. 4 in the rankings, jumping back into the top 5.

This is the highest ranking for the Tar Heels in the AP poll since they were No. 3 just a few weeks ago.

As for the ACC, Duke fell two spots to No. 11 as the only other team ranked in the conference. Wake Forest did get 1 vote after winning on Saturday to potentially save their NCAA Tournament hopes but that’s it for the ACC in this poll.

The Tar Heels will be in action on Thursday to begin what we hope is a run to the ACC Championship game in Washington D.C.
