Linebacker Zavier Hamilton puts Auburn in top four

It looks to be a battle between Auburn and Florida State for the three-star prospect.

The Auburn Tigers are one of the final four schools for three-star linebacker [autotag]Zavier Hamilton[/autotag]. The Navarre, Florida product announced a final four of Auburn, Florida State, Kansas, and South Carolina Friday on Twitter.

The 6-foot-2, 218-pounder has visited the Plains multiple times since being offered with his most recent trip being for the annual A-Day game.

The Tigers have already landed one commitment from the event, as three-star tight end Martavious Collins joined Auburn’s class on Friday.

He is the No. 532 overall player and No. 52 linebacker in the 247Sports Composite ranking. He is also the No. 77 player from the Sunshine State.

It looks like the Tigers will have to make up some ground to land Hamilton, the in-state Seminoles currently have a 20.7% chance to land him according to On3’s Recruiting Prediction Machine but Auburn is right behind with an 18.1% chance.

Auburn has a need at linebacker after it did not sign a high school linebacker in the 2023 recruiting cycle and is still looking for its first commit in the 2024 cycle. However, they did add transfers [autotag]Austin Keys[/autotag] and [autotag]Demario Tolan[/autotag], who both have multiple seasons of eligibility left.

LSU makes top 10 for 2024 four-star linebacker

There are no clear favorites for talented Navarre, Florida, linebacker Zavier Hamilton.

[autotag]Zavier Hamilton[/autotag] is a 6-foot-2, 218-pound linebacker from the class of 2024. He is from Navarre, Florida, where he plays for Navarre High School. The Navarre Raiders finished the 2022 season 8-3 with a loss to Creekside in the first round of the Florida 4S playoffs.

Hamilton recently released his top 10 list of schools going forward, and the LSU Tigers made the list along with Notre Dame, South Carolina, Georgia, Arkansas, Auburn, Kansas, Florida State, Michigan State and UCF.

There are currently no Crystal Ball projections for Hamilton and there is no clear favorite per On3. LSU is running short on depth at linebacker after falling victim to the transfer portal, but [autotag]Brian Kelly[/autotag] has rebounded well by landing a lot of recruits to try and fill those spots. Landing a four-star linebacker could go a long way toward helping those efforts.

LSU currently has the No. 3 ranked recruiting class for the class of 2024.

4-star Sunshine State LB had ‘fantastic’ first gameday visit to Clemson

A top athlete from the Sunshine State, with a tie to Clemson, returned to Tiger Town for the Louisiana Tech game this past weekend.

Navarre (Fla.) 2024 four-star linebacker Zavier Hamilton was back on campus last Saturday for Clemson’s 48-20 win over Louisiana Tech, after competing at the Dabo Swinney Camp back in June.

“It was fantastic. I had so much fun,” Hamilton told The Clemson Insider in a phone interview Tuesday night. “(What stood out) is the fact that they were playing La. Tech and the entire stadium was still packed out. That was the crazy part for me. It wasn’t like a rivalry game or nothing, but the entire stadium was packed.”

“It was absolutely amazing,” he said of the atmosphere in The Valley. “I couldn’t have even imagined that and it was so much fun.”

While Hamilton is listed as an athlete by several recruiting services, Clemson is looking at the talented Sunshine State prospect to play linebacker. So, it comes as no surprise that he keyed in on the Tigers’ linebackers during Clemson’s 28-point win over La. Tech on Saturday.

“I like how they play,” Hamilton said. “I like the way that Coach Goodwin utilizes them a lot, like in coverage too. It’s not just sitting and running, nothing like that. I watched two of their linebackers get picks in the game, it was crazy.”

Hamilton sees himself in the mold of Barrett Carter, who has become Clemson’s Nickel-SAM backer. He said that’s actually where he foresees himself playing at the next level, especially when Hamilton considers his positional versatility.

He had a chance to catch up with Wesley Goodwin prior to Clemson’s third victory of the season. Goodwin, Clemson’s defensive coordinator/linebackers coach, has served as Hamilton’s primary recruiter throughout the process.

“He said that he was excited to have me up there and he wants me to come back up as soon as possible,” Hamilton recalled of Goodwin’s message to him.

According to Hamilton, while the two have discussed a potential offer, Goodwin has told him to stay patient and that an offer should be on the way sooner than later.

Goodwin hasn’t handed out the second batch of offers to linebackers in the class of 2024 just yet. Jefferson (Ga.) five-star Sammy Brown and Olney (MD.) Our Lady Good Counsel HS four-star Aaron Chiles are the only backers in their last class to report offers from the Tigers.

Since the calendar struck Sept. 1, Hamilton’s relationship with Goodwin has gotten even better. They’ve talked just about every single day.

“He’s just a great guy, I couldn’t say it any more,” Hamilton said.

In addition to Clemson, Hamilton mentioned schools like Virginia Tech, Kentucky, USF, Florida, Missouri, Alabama, Arkansas, Tennessee and Michigan State, as those he’s heard from since the beginning of the month. He’s also heard from just about every school that’s offered him up until this point.

Hamilton hasn’t set up any game day visits at the moment, but he does know that he’s returning to The Valley for the South Carolina game at the end of the regular season.

“I want to see the atmosphere for a rivalry game,” Hamilton said. “I can only imagine what that would be like.

“I’m pumped for it,” he added. “I cannot wait.”

Clemson will again play host to some top prospects for Saturday’s 8:00 p.m. game against Louisiana Tech in Death Valley.

Here are some of the bigger names The Clemson Insider has confirmed as planned visitors for the Clemson-Tech game.

The headlining prospect in the class of 2023 is Kennesaw (Ga.) North Cobb Christian School three-star interior offensive lineman Gabriel Fortson. The 6-foot-4, 300-pound senior participated in the Dabo Swinney Camp this past summer and had a great time while competing at the camp and working with Clemson’s coaching staff.

He also said he “definitely” feels better about his chances of earning an offer from the Tigers based on how this year’s Swinney Camp went for him.

“It’d mean a lot,” Fortson said of a potential Clemson offer. “It’d immediately be one of my top schools on the list. Honestly, I’d love to go there. Everything’s so family-oriented, and Coach Swinney’s such a great coach and everything. I’d love to be a part of it.”

A couple of headliners among the recruits expected to be in attendance are a five-star class of 2024 prospect in Parkview (Lilburn, Ga.) safety Mike Matthews, as well as a four-star class of 2024 prospect in Philadelphia (Pa.) St. Joseph’s Prep cornerback Omillio Agard.

When Clemson formally turned the page to offering prospects in the 2024 class on Wednesday, June 1, and started doling out offers to rising junior recruits, two of the first prospects to report offers from the Tigers were Matthews and Agard.

247Sports considers Matthews (6-3. 180) to be the No. 1 safety and the nation’s No. 9 overall prospect regardless of position in the class of 2024.

“I was very excited,” Matthews said of receiving an offer from Clemson. “It’s very important for me for a school like that to offer me. It shows how they feel about me as a player.”

Agard (6-0, 173) is ranked as the No. 8 cornerback and No. 84 overall prospect in the 2024 class by Rivals, while 247Sports considers him the No. 18 corner and No. 204 overall prospect in the class.

“Getting that offer means a lot because I’ve been building a relationship with Coach Reed and the coaches for over a year now, so it’s like, ‘Wow, they really believe in me,’ because I’m one of the first offers in the class,” Agard told The Clemson Insider back in June. It means a lot and they don’t offer too many guys, so I’m just grateful. I’m definitely high on them and they’re high on me. We’re gonna see where this goes in the next couple of years.”

During his visit, Agard got a chance to talk with Clemson coach Dabo Swinney for about 30 minutes. According to Agard, Swinney was telling him that he’s the type of guy that they want in their program because he’s a great person with good academics.

“I just check every box,” Agard recalled, “and they check all my boxes at a school that I want to be at. It just all fell into place. Coach Swinney’s a great guy and he just showed me that I’m wanted.”

“I’m really high on Clemson now,” he added. “I see myself there. I could be a Tiger. It was just great.”

Cass (Cartersville, Ga.) 2024 three-star wide receiver Sacovie White will be making his first trip to Clemson on Saturday, along with his mother and sister.

“I’m very excited about that,” he said of Saturday’s game. “It’s just to see a night game. Night games are very, very inspiring — just seeing what the atmosphere feels like.”

Another prospect worth mentioning that will be in attendance is Parkview (Lilburn, Ga.) 2025 offensive lineman Cortez Smith. Smith — a 6-foot-4, 275-pound sophomore in the class of 2025 — is high on Clemson early and is already one of the top offensive guards in the country. He holds a lone offer from Penn State.

Among other notable recruits on Clemson’s anticipated guest list for Saturday’s game are two Clemson commits in Birmingham (Ala.) Briarwood Christian five-star quarterback Christopher Vizzina and Stockbridge (Georgia) three-star cornerback Shelton Lewis, as well as Gaffney (S.C.) 2023 DB O’Myireia Daniels, Navarre (Florida) four-star LB Zavier Hamilton, Philadelphia (Pa.) St. Joseph’s Prep four-star WR David Washington, Jr., Daphne (Ala.) Bayside Academy 2024 OL Graham Uter, Spartanburg (S.C.) Broome High 2024 OL Steven O’Dell, Alpharetta (Ga.) Johns Creek 2024 WR Kyle Vaka, Buffalo (West Virginia) 2025 QB Josh Moody, Woodmont (Simpsonville, S.C.) 2025 TE Tre Broughton, Grayson (Loganville, Ga.) 2025 OL Bryce Hudson, Parkview (Lilburn, Ga.) 2025 OL Jordan Floyd and Rabun Gap-Nacoochee School (Georgia) 2025 DL Terry Nwabuisi Ezeala.

— Myrtle Beach (S.C.) 2025 WR John Simmons messaged The Clemson Insider saying that he might be attending this weekend’s game, while unconfirmed at the moment.

4-star Sunshine State LB building a ‘really strong bond’ with Clemson, Goodwin

Since he participated in the Dabo Swinney camp earlier this summer, Zavier Hamilton estimates that he talks to Wesley Goodwin every two weeks.

The four-star linebacker out of Navarre (Fla.) and a top target for Clemson in the class of 2024 updated his current recruitment and the messaging he’s received from Clemson’s defensive coordinator/linebackers coach in a phone interview with The Clemson Insider earlier this month.

“More just building a relationship,” Hamilton said when asked about his recent conversations with Goodwin. “Just talking about how my family is, how he’s doing and stuff like that. I feel like we have a real strong bond now. All our conversations are always really smooth, they’re always entertaining. It’s just been great talking with him and building it.”

“Coach Goodwin is a great guy,” Hamilton continued. “I can’t say anything bad about him. He’s funny. He has a great sense of humor. He’s also a genius on defense, so I’ve just been talking to him and picking his brain on stuff like that.”

Hamilton said that Goodwin has mentioned a potential scholarship offer, but he reiterated that he’s focused on continuing to build that relationship,

“I’m not trying to rush nothing,” he said. “I’d rather build the great relationship that we’re having right now than just get an offer and not talk to him.”

In the meantime, Hamilton has been focused on preparing for a crucial junior campaign. He’s been training a lot — focusing on his conditioning — as he gets back into football shape for the upcoming season.

After he camped at Clemson last month, Hamilton did not take any more visits or participate in any camps. Right now, we can tell you that he’ll be at the University of Florida for the program’s Friday Night Lights Camp on Friday, July 29. He also told us that he’ll likely head to the University of Arkansas for one of the cookouts that the Razorbacks will host this month.

As far as a potential game-day visit to Memorial Stadium goes, Hamilton told us that he’ll “absolutely” be back in Tiger Town for a gameday this fall. He added that Goodwin told him that he could come to as many games as possible.

In addition to Clemson, Hamilton says that Virginia Tech is a program he’s talked to the most. He mentioned that the Hokies’ defensive coordinator/linebackers coach, Chris Marve, has been reaching out through his trainer for the majority of the summer.

He most recently picked up an offer from Michigan State on Thursday.

As the offers continue to pile up, Hamilton said that he’s ready to “go stupid” this upcoming season on both sides of the football. Watch out.

Come out to support Clemson baseball at Dear Old Clemson’s event, which is set for September 30 at the Owen Pavilion. New head coach Erik Bakich will be on hand, as will next year’s baseball team. Swinney Camp a ‘fantastic’ experience for coveted Sunshine State LB

A coveted linebacker prospect from the Sunshine State participated in Day 3 of the Dabo Swinney Camp on Friday, June 10. Navarre (Fla.) four-star linebacker Zavier Hamilton – a 6-foot-1, 205-pound rising junior in the class of 2024 – had a great …

A coveted linebacker prospect from the Sunshine State participated in Day 3 of the Dabo Swinney Camp on Friday, June 10.

Navarre (Fla.) four-star linebacker Zavier Hamilton — a  6-foot-1, 205-pound rising junior in the class of 2024 — had a great time while competing at the camp and working with the Tigers’ coaching staff.

“It was fantastic,” Hamilton told The Clemson Insider regarding his Clemson camp experience. “I had a really, really great time learning from Coach Goodwin and all them. I was having a great time. I couldn’t have enjoyed it more.”

What type of feedback did Hamilton get from Wesley Goodwin?

“He told me that my hips were a little bit tight, but other than that, that was about it,” Hamilton said. “He did walk me through some drills that’ll help me open them up and he said that it’ll make me a way better player on top of that. I’m definitely gonna take that away and apply it.”

Goodwin spent a lot of time with Hamilton and was specifically watching him the whole time, so that proved to him Clemson’s level of interest in him.

Clemson has only offered one linebacker in the class of 2024 — Our Lady Good Counsel HS (Olney, MD.) four-star Aaron Chiles — so according to Hamilton, Clemson’s defensive coordinator/linebackers coach told him that when it comes to offering rising juniors, he’s taking things slow.

“He said that he absolutely loves me on film and loves me even more in person,” Hamilton said. “He said for me to keep on coming regularly and to see where it takes us. He told me to come up to as many games as possible as well.”

With that said, Hamilton is hoping that a coveted potential offer will be coming sooner than later.

While Hamilton told us previously that he would like to have a decision made by the end of the summer, he’s now leaning towards waiting until spring 2023. Both he and his parents want to see more.

“I just want to travel more,” he said. “I just want to go see what other places are like and see if I have that same feeling there.”

Rivals considers Hamilton as the nation’s No. 28 athlete and the No. 201 overall prospect in the class of 2024.

4-star Florida linebacker ‘itching’ to get back up to Clemson

As we revealed in this week’s edition of The Insider Report, Clemson is in a good position with a four-star Sunshine State linebacker, who is set to make his return to campus on Friday, June 10. Zavier Hamilton – a 6-foot-1, 205-pound rising junior …

As we revealed in this week’s edition of The Insider Report, Clemson is in a good position with a four-star Sunshine State linebacker, who is set to make his return to campus on Friday, June 10.

Zavier Hamilton — a 6-foot-1, 205-pound rising junior in the class of 2024 — has built up quite the relationship with Clemson defensive coordinator and linebackers coach, Wesley Goodwin

“It’s been great,” Hamilton said regarding his relationship with Goodwin. “I love him. He’s a great guy. He sees that I’m an ambitious young man and he wants to develop me in hopes to get me up there. He’s just a great person. He’s really easy to talk to. I don’t have any problems trying to strike up a conversation with him or nothing. It’s just been great.”

Talking with The Clemson Insider this past weekend, Hamilton revealed what he’s been hearing from Clemson as of late and where things currently stand with his recruitment.

“They just want to get me up there as soon as possible, pretty much,” he continued.  “They still love me. They love how personal I am. I’ve been talking to them pretty much every week, every Friday. It’s just been great building that relationship and they just want to see me come up there to camp and I could see an offer that day.”

What would a potential offer from Clemson mean for Hamilton and his recruitment?

“That’d be huge,” he said. “Clemson would be in my top three. I love everything about them. I love their culture. It would mean even more to me if I could get that offer in-person because I like establishing relationships before I get the offer.”

As far as the rest of Hamilton’s recruitment is concerned, he has some top schools in mind. He mentioned to us that Notre Dame, Clemson and Virginia Tech are among his top contenders, and in addition to his Clemson visit, he’ll be in South Bend this weekend from June 3-5.

Surprisingly, Hamilton, a rising junior, told us that he will “definitely” be making a decision before the season. There are a few places that he would already consider home, but Hamilton wants to use this summer to evaluate some top options.

“Freshman year, I went to 50 Division I schools and they all sort of melted together,” Hamilton said. “All of them were pretty much the same, but those three places really stuck out to me the most. Those are the three places that I’d want to go.”

While Hamilton was only focusing on schools that have already offered him a scholarship, there’s something different about Clemson. He’ll gladly camp there in two weeks and have the opportunity to not only workout with Goodwin, but earn a scholarship offer from the Tigers.

Hamilton told us that he’s “itching” to get back to Clemson.

He camped at Clemson last summer, but that was under the direction of former defensive coordinator and linebackers coach, Brent Venables, who is now the head coach at the University of Oklahoma.

“I’m excited,” he added. “I loved their camp last year. I had a lot of fun.”

Florida 2024 athlete will visit Notre Dame this weekend

The list continues to grow

Now that camp season (aka school is over) has officially kicked off, there are plenty of players across the country that are making their decisions on which schools they will visit. Many of them now have the opportunity to travel across the country to locations that wouldn’t normally be an option to visit.

Florida athlete [autotag]Zavier Hamilton[/autotag] is one of them. Already holding an Irish verbal scholar offer, Hamilton had choices of where to visit this weekend. He has made a decision to travel North to South Bend and visit with [autotag]Marcus Freeman[/autotag] and the [autotag]Notre Dame[/autotag] coaching staff this coming weekend.

The six-foot-one-inch and 205-pound athlete has repped at running back, linebacker and safety. Playing those positions show his versatility and even though a position has yet to be solidified for Hamilton, it’s great to see early interest in Notre Dame.
