Phillies pitcher ducks to avoid rogue cracked bat to get key out vs. Astros in the World Series

Watch out for that bat!

The Philadelphia Phillies didn’t let a rogue bat keep them from making an out in a crucial Game 6 of the World Series.

Astros outfielder Chas McCormick hit a line drive off of a pitch from Phillies pitcher Zack Wheeler, and McCormick’s bat cracked in half and went flying in Wheeler’s direction.

The pitcher avoided the rogue bat and still made a play to get the lead runner out on second. McCormick made it to base, and his fractured bat went flying into the outfield.

Though, Wheeler’s quick play helped the Phillies get a key out in a game they have to win to force a Game 7 in Houston.

McCormick, a West Chester, Pennsylvania native, uses Philly rap legend Meek Mill’s song “Dreams and Nightmares” as his walk-up music.

He surely sent a nightmare at the very least Wheeler’s way with that hit, but it’s a dream to be able to get an out with that kind of hazard flying your way.

Top 6 best bets to win 2022 World Series MVP

Top 6 players to bet for World Series MVP.

The World Series begins Friday with the Houston Astros hosting the Philadelphia Phillies in Game 1.

Both teams enter the series on impressive runs, increasing the level of intrigue for what might happen. The betting favorite to win, Houston swept its way through the postseason to the World Series. Barely outdone, the Phillies made the playoffs as a Wild Card before sweeping that round, and losing just a single game in the NLDS and NLCS each.

With this unlikely World Series about to commence, it’s time to look at my top six MVP candidates and their odds to win. Astros dominate the list, because Houston is favored to win, but a couple Phillies made the list too.
