Josh Primo releases statement following shocking news from San Antonio Spurs

Spurs cut former Alabama MBB standout Josh Primo in a stunning move, he releases statement.

In a move that shocked most of the NBA community, the San Antonio Spurs released former Crimson Tide stand-out, [autotag]Josh Primo[/autotag].

Primo was selected No. 12 overall in the 2021 NBA draft by the Spurs and he was the youngest player selected in that draft. Primo doesn’t turn 20 until late December, so he remains incredibly young.

Just two weeks ago the Spurs exercised the team’s third-year option for Primo in 2023-2024 and he was slated to make $4.1 million this season. Reports show that the Spurs were pleased with Primo’s growth on the court and were very excited to see him continue to develop.

There has been and will continue to be much speculation over what occurred, but for now, Primo has released a statement and he knows best. So rather than share my two cents, here is what he has to say:

Roll Tide Wire will continue to follow Josh Primo and his journey.

Notre Dame great Bryant Young headed to Pro Football Hall of Fame

Congrats to an all-time great!

Former Notre Dame and San Francisco 49ers great Bryant Young will be in the 2022 Pro Football Hall of Fame class.  The announcement was made on Thursday night ahead of the Super Bowl as Young got the knock on his door that made things official.

Young was a highly touted recruit from the Chicago suburbs that was part of Notre Dame’s incredible 1990 recruiting class that saw five players selected in the first round of the NFL draft, two of which have now been elected to the Pro Football Hall of Fame (Jerome Bettis).

Young was a star on Notre Dame’s defensive line before becoming a mainstay on the San Francisco 49ers defensive front where his incredible career spanned 14 seasons He started 208 games, all for the 49ers, and racked up 627 tackles, 89.5 sacks, 20 pass breakups, 12 forced fumbles and seven fumble recoveries. Young was a Super Bowl champion, four-time Pro Bowler, and a First-Team All-Pro in 1996. Three times he was selected as a Second-Team All-Pro.

Young will go in alongside Tony Boselli, Cliff Branch, Leroy Butler, Art McNally, Sam Mills, Richard Seymour and Dick Vermeil.

MUST SEE: Dwayne Haskins welcomes Chase Young to the Washington Redskins

Chase Young is on his way to the Washington Redskins, and former teammate Dwayne Haskins has already sent out his welcome.

Chase Young is on his way to the Washington Redskins, and former teammate Dwayne Haskins has already sent out his warm welcome via Twitter.

That said, just a year ago, these two were sharing the field. Haskins would lead a dominant offense with an all-time great year for Ohio State, while Young would help tag team with Nick Bosa on the defensive end.

It was a team filled with potential and one that undoubtedly should’ve done far more, as they barely missed the College Football Playoffs. Now, they’ll get a chance to re-write history at the next level and find that success.

The duo will be teaming up with another former Buckeye teammate and speedster receiver Terry McLaurin as well. Here’s how Young’s former quarterback decided to usher him into the Redskins’ family.

Young, who set the Ohio State single-season sack record last season with 16.5 sacks, is expected to make an immediate impact in Washington. The No. 2 overall pick, Young is a dominant defensive end and was college football’s best player in 2019.

That’s our story, and we’re sticking to it.

Todd McShay claims Chase Young is “better” than both Bosa brothers

ESPN’s Todd McShay loves Heisman finalist and Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year Chase Young, saying he’s better than both Bosa brothers.

ESPN’s Todd McShay loves Heisman finalist and Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year Chase Young, saying he’s better than both Bosa brothers. It’s tough to say McShay is wrong here.

Young, the third-year defensive end, won the Chuck Bednarik Award which goes to the college football’s best defensive player. He also won Big Ten Defensive Lineman of the Year. Yeah, that was a no-brainer.

Young’s resume is loaded with accolades that include setting the school’s single-season sack record at 16.5 sacks so far. That doesn’t even account for the fact that he was suspended for two of Ohio State’s 13 games.

Those are a few of the many reasons why Todd McShay night think he’s better than both Joey and Nick Bosa, two players that have made name for themselves at the professional level.

“He’s better… I would take him No. 1 even if I needed a quarterback.”

The Cincinnati Bengals, with one win, will likely have the No. 1 pick in the 2020 NFL Draft. They need a quarterback, and Joe Burrow will be the obvious choice.

Burrow or Young will be the debate in Cincinnati, and it seems many would favor the franchise quarterback over Young at this point. But not McShay.

How was Chase Young was not unanimously chosen as Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year?

Ohio State’s Chase Young was named B1G Defensive Player of the Year and Defensive Lineman of the Year, but it wasn’t unanimous.

Ohio State’s Chase Young was named the Big Ten’s Defensive Player of the Year and Defensive Lineman of the Year, but it wasn’t unanimous. How? I have no idea.

On Tuesday night, the Big Ten released their coaching, defensive and special teams awards.

Head coach Ryan Day, seven defenders and the Buckeyes’ kicker were all recognized. A day later Justin Fields and others were also shown a myriad of awards including Big Ten Offensive Player of the Year.

That said, Chase Young won the Defensive Player of the Year award. But, somehow it wasn’t a unanimous decision.

After the Big Ten named all their awards, they noted the unanimous selections in all caps. Young’s name, needless to say, was not fully capitalized, signifying that he wasn’t a unanimous selection.

With 38 total tackles, 19.5 tackles for loss and 16.5 sacks, Young has easily been the most dominant defender in the conference. And all those eye-popping stats came with him missing two games due to a suspension surrounding him accepting a small loan.

He put up the team’s single-season sack record and played just ten games. He’ll likely have three more to solidify his claim as a top-three pick in the upcoming NFL Draft.

Widely regarded as college football’s best defensive prospect, it’d be interesting to know if Antoine Winfield Jr., who won B1G Defensive Back of the Year, took a vote or two.

Winfield Jr., the Minnesota Golden Gopher, had seven interceptions, the fourth-most in the NCAA. While those were impressive, Winfield isn’t on the same level as Young.

Ohio State Football: Chase Young, J.K. Dobbins named Big Ten Player of the Week

Chase Young and J.K. Dobbins, following a 28-17 victory over the No. 8 Penn State, were both named Big Ten Player of the Week.

Chase Young and J.K. Dobbins, following a 28-17 victory over the No. 8 ranked Penn State, were both named Big Ten Player of the Week, along with Michigan’s Shea Patterson.

Young, who was awarded the Big Ten Defensive Player of the Week, managed a career-high nine tackles. He also set the Ohio State single-season sack record, with three against Penn State to push his season total to 16.5.

A consensus top-three overall pick, Young has been one of the most dominant players in college football and is up for year-end awards as the nation’s best defender and player.

As for J.K. Dobbins, he’ll be splitting the honor of Offensive Player of the Week with Michigan’s Shea Patterson. Dobbins looked unstoppable on Saturday, running for over 150 yards and two scores against one of the country’s best run defenses.

Had the bulk of Ohio State’s games been close in the fourth quarter, we may be talking about him in the driver’s seat to secure the single-season rushing record. Sadly, that won’t likely happen.

Through 11 games, Dobbins already has a career-high 1,446 yards. He’s also three yards shy of 1,600 all-purpose yards. He’s been a quality every-down back when Ohio State has needed him the most.

Both Dobbins and Young need to replicate the performance they had against Penn State this upcoming Saturday as Ohio State travels to Michigan.

Rivalry week is upon us, and it’s only fitting Young and Dobbins shine on what most Ohio State fans will consider to be the biggest game yet this season.

Chase Young awarded the Walter Camp defensive player of the week

After a dominant effort against Penn State, Chase Young has, for the second time, been awarded the Walter Camp defensive player of the week.

After a dominant effort against Penn State, Chase Young has, for the second time this season, been awarded the Walter Camp defensive player of the week.

It was a terrific performance from the potential top-three pick. He put together a career-high nine tackles which included four tackles-for-losses. Young also had a game-changing three sacks and two forced fumbles.

It felt like every time either Penn State quarterback dropped back he was being harassed by the Bronko Nagurski Trophy finalist. Young is easily the best defender in the nation.

On Saturday, in the team’s 28-17 victory, Young also set the university’s single-season sack record, propelling his season total to 16.5. According to a released statement from Ohio State, that totals is the “most sacks by a Big Ten player in 21 years.”

Young is nearing two sacks per game and had could’ve neared the D-1 single-season record had he not been suspended two games. Since 2005, the record is 20 by Elvis Dumervil. Bleacher Report reported back in 2013 that the single-season sack record is 24 set by Terrell Suggs.

Without those suspensions, Young could’ve gotten close to that record. The 6-foot-5, 265-pound defensive end has 38 tackles, almost 20 of which have been for a loss, this season.

Chase Young sets Ohio State single-season sack record in first quarter

Chase Young has made his mark on Ohio State-Penn State early on, setting the university’s single-season sack record as well.

Chase Young has made his mark on Ohio State-Penn State early on, and it just so happened with his first sack of the game he set the university’s single-season sack record.

Young, with just under six minutes to go in the first quarter, got to Penn State quarterback Sean Clifford. Just moments before commentators were warning of Young’s dominance.

With 14.5 sacks, Young has now passed Vernon Gholston who set the record in 2007 with 14.0. He’s been an absolute force, and it is key to also remember he was out the team’s previous two games.

The two-game absence may have taken him out of the running for the Heisman Trophy, but he’s still in the record books and can still take this team to some pretty special things in 2019.

Just think of what Young could’ve had as Ohio State won the past two games 129-35. That said, expect Young to have a huge impact on the rest of the game.

Young combined for 14 sacks his first two seasons, playing in 22 games. He is an expected top-five pick in the 2020 NFL Draft.

Chase Young’s Heisman chances plummet with suspension looming

Just two weeks ago Chase Young was a top-two candidate for the Heisman trophy. Now, after sitting one game, he’s barely in the top five.

Just two weeks ago Chase Young was a top-three candidate for the Heisman trophy. He was looking to join the top-tier candidates, Joe Burrow and Tua Tagovailoa, with an easy outing against Maryland.

Now, after sitting one game, he’s barely in the top five, and it seems that LSU quarterback Joe Burrow is pulling away from the pack.

Young was held out of the team’s 69-point victory over Maryland. His status for what should be another massive Buckeyes victory against Rutgers this Saturday is unknown.

While the official penalty for accepting a small loan from a family friend which was repaid is still in the air, if he continues to miss games, he can kiss any shot at the Heisman trophy goodbye.

A four-sack performance against Wisconsin in another dominant effort from the Buckeyes just over two weeks ago bounced the projected top-five pick over the likes of Jalen Hurts and Justin Fields.

However, according to ESPN’s Heisman Watch, Young has slid under fellow teammate Justin Fields. Young sits at No. 5 and received just 12 votes with zero first-place votes. He had 24 votes in the week following the Wisconsin game.

Young has 13.5 sacks on the season and could’ve easily set the single-season Ohio State record this past weekend. The record is currently 14.0 which was set by Vernon Gholston in 2007.

The Ohio State defensive didn’t skip a beat without Young on the line. They gave up just two touchdowns all game and none in the first a half, a 30-minute period where they totaled 42 points.

As for Young, it’s likely he’s out again Saturday, but there seems to be hope that he’ll take on Penn State and Michigan to finish the regular season. That said, if he does miss these two games which could’ve easily solidified his claim as a competitor for the Heisman, his chances are virtually over.

Young would’ve been just the second defender to have won the award and the first since Charles Woodson did it in 1997. For now, that’s looking extremely unlikely, although we haven’t seen a collegiate defender as dominant as Young in decades.
