There really just isn’t much value here.

Wentz is coming off 1 of his best performances of the season and should revert back to his usual self Wednesday. He faces a Yankees lineup that has been hitting better lately and is relying on a Tigers offense that is averaging just 2.25 runs over its last 4 games.

Cole has obviously been dominant vs. the Tigers in his career and should have no trouble setting up the Yankees for a blowout win.

BET YANKEES -1.5 (-130).

Over/Under

While I don’t expect the Tigers to score a lot of runs vs. Cole, the Yankees should be able to run up the score against Wentz and Detroit’s relievers.

The Over is 29-23-1 (55.8%) this season when the Tigers are home underdogs, according to TeamRankings.com, and I have no faith in Detroit’s pitching staff to keep this game low-scoring Wednesday.

I’m going to fade Severino and the Yankees and roll with the TIGERS (-115).

Detroit’s side is the only one to consider here, but we’re not paying -190.

Over/Under

The Yankees are 7-3 O/U over the last 10, and Detroit is 5-5. The Over is just 3-7 in the last 10 between the teams, but none of those took place this year. Severino has pitched to the Over in 4 of 5 starts and Olson has pitched to the Over in his last 2 and 3 of 5. I’m a little surprised this isn’t 9 or more.

PASS. The Tigers took Friday’s series opener on a 10th-inning walk-off home run. With a bit of fade to Turnbull’s numbers (on the grounds of some BABIP and HR/FB% luck), some play to New York’s batting numbers, and the visiting nine having much the better bullpen, the Yankees are the play.

However, you can look to the run line for better value on a wind-out day ripe for a double-digit total.

Garcia may be too much of an unknown quantity to stake a full unit on NEW YORK -1.5 (+125).

That said, the 22-year-old right-hander can spin the cowhide, and it seems to be off-speed spin rate, and the new ball that plays to that spin, that has Major League Baseball looking like its 1968 incarnation at times this season.

Over/Under (O/U)

BACK THE OVER 8 (-120) on a slight lean. The forecast calls for a 15-mile-an-hour wind blowing out to right field. Current Yankee bats own an .847 OPS against Turnbull, and New York got to him for 8 base runners (and 4 ER) in 5 IP on May 1.

Run line/Against the spread (ATS)

Obviously, Cole has been great throughout his career vs. the Tigers, but his advanced numbers are even more mind-boggling. This is the main reason I recommend BETTING a half unit on the YANKEES -0.5 (-155) FIRST 5 INNINGS run line.

Hitters on Detroit’s current roster have 83 plate appearances vs. Cole, and the overwhelming Cy Young favorite has a 50.6% strikeout rate, 0.80 FIP, .189 expected wOBA and .225 expected slugging percentage.

I’d go heavier on this, but I have a hunch Mize could extend his quality start streak to five outings.

Over/Under (O/U)

The Yankees clubbed the Tigers by a combined score of 18-4 in their three-game sweep, and they are expecting Giancarlo Stanton back in the lineup Friday.

But, my read is if this game goes Over it’ll most likely be due to New York raking Detroit’s weak bullpen, Cole will be dominant, and Mize will grind out a solid outing at least.

Both starters are former first overall picks, and Mize is expected to have Ace-level stuff in coming seasons.

The play: Slight “LEAN” to the UNDER 3.5 (-120) FIRST 5 INNINGS for a quarter unit.
