Massive brawl breaks out near end of Defenders’ win over Battlehawks in XFL 2023

A wild finish to the Defenders’ XFL win over the Battlehawks saw both teams in a fight

The XFL game between the St. Louis Battlehawks and D.C. Defenders was chippy throughout Sunday. It turned into a full-fledged WWE melee at the end of the Defenders’ 34-28 victory.

After the Battlehawks scored to close within 6, they attempted the make-it-take-it option of converting a fourth-and-15, the league’s alternative to onside kicks.

AJ McCarron of St. Louis was sacked and all hell broke loose.

Both teams were on the field. Fists were flying, and so was a helmet. Three players were ejected.

In the actual game, the Battlehawks erased a double-digit deficit for the third straight game but four turnovers proved their undoing.

Jordan Ta’amu ran for a touchdown and threw for one as the Defenders remained undefeated.

McCarron passed for 262 yards and 4 touchdowns. He also threw 2 picks.

The D.C. Defenders have set beer snake rules for Audi Field. Seriously.

The beer snake has won at Audi Field.

After a controversy in the D.C. Defenders’ first home game, the XFL team has set up rules to allow the tradition to continue … in sections 136 and 137.

The crowd’s unruliness will be tested on Sunday when the undefeated St. Louis Battlehawks visit the Defenders.

Josh Gordon catches game-winning TD for XFL’s Seattle Sea Dragons

Josh Gordon made a spectacular play to win it for Seattle

This borders on unfairness.

The XFL’s Seattle Sea Dragons earned their first win of the season on Saturday, thanks to a former NFL star.

Josh Gordon, who has had numerous suspensions during his time in the NFL, caught 6 passes for 118 yards and 2 scores.ย His 65-yard catch with about a minute left gave the Sea Dragons the 30-26 win over the Vegas Vipers.

Former Dallas Cowboys QB Ben DiNucci had a huge game, connecting on 29-of-37 passes for 377 yards and 4 TDs.

The Vipers’ Brett Hundley threw for 228 yards and a pair of TDs. He also rushed for 66 yards and a score in a losing cause.

Paralyzed former HS player Corey Borner visited some XFL teams

A splendid occurrence at Houston Roughnecks and Arlington Renegards practice on Wednesday.

Corey Borner, who suffered a spinal cord injury and was paralyzed during a football game at DeSoto (Tx) High School in 2009, visited the undefeated XFL teams.

The players from the Roughnecks were thrilled to see Borner and rushed over to welcome him at practice.

If the Houston Roughnecks play a full 60 minutes, the rest of the XFL is going to be in trouble.

Wade Phillips’ team played a sloppy second quarter, plagued by turnovers, before righting itself Sunday in a 23-14 victory over the Arlington Renegades.

The Roughnecks were cruising after a quarter, leading 11-0. Then, they started to lose their handle on the football.

Arlington forced a pair of turnovers on special teams and converted it into 14 points before the break.

Halftime settled the Roughnecks, who have yet to lose in incarnation II or III of the fledgling league.

They got a Brandon Silvers TD pass in the third quarter to Cedric Byrd and aย  Max Borghi score on a 4-yard run in the fourth to open the nine-point margin of victory.

Jack Coan, San Antonio Brahmas crush Orlando Guardians in XFL 2023

Former ND QB Jack Coan led San Antonio to an easy XFL 2023 victory over Orlando

Former Notre Dame quarterback Jack Coan had a stellar day throwing Sunday in XFL play as the San Antonio Brahmas dealt the Orlando Guardians their second straight loss, 30-12.

The matchup started as Coan against former Denver Broncos first-round pick Paxton Lynch and it was no contest.

Coan threw for 165 yards and 3 touchdowns. He also rushed for 23 yards on 3 carries as the Brahmas evened their mark at 1-1.

The TD passes went to Alize Mack, Jalen Tolliver, and Deon Yelder.

Lynch was 9 of 19 for 79 yards and a TD.

Deondre Francois replaced him — as was planned — and went 6 of 13 for 7 yards and a TD.

Terrell Buckley has a lot of work to do in this short season as the Guardians appear to be the worst team in the league.

The XFL 2023 introduces its football, which will have a first

Dany Garcia’s name will be on the XFL footballs in the 2023 season

The XFL is starting to build for its return in 2023.

The league that has two strikes already is backed by Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson and its chairwoman, Dany Garcia.

The league revealed its football on Tuesday and it will be different than any ball used in any other football league.

Why? Because the signature on the football will be that of Garcia, making her the first female to have her name on a pro football league’s game ball.
