Michigan State basketball: 5 recruits to watch out for as the cycle begins

5 recruits fans should look out for as Michigan State starts to piece together their 2023 recruiting class

Michigan State concluded their 2021-22 season with a Round of 32 exit to the Duke Blue Devils. Now, it is time to turn a new leaf and start getting prepared for the upcoming season and offseason. A huge part of this offseason will be recruiting the 2023 recruiting class. Tom Izzo has already been spotted on the road recruiting several different prospects and is making his presence on the recruiting trail known.

The Spartans already hold a commitment from Jeremy Fears, the No. 26 player in the recruiting class, and they are looking to build off of what the point guard brings them.

Here are five prospects fans should have on their radar as Tom Izzo looks to piece his 2023 recruiting class together:

Tom Izzo is relentlessly recruiting a center in the 2023 recruiting class

Tom Izzo saw that not having a Big Ten quality center can pose major problems for his team and his program. The Spartans have struggled to recruit the center position in recent years as well, not getting a center commitment in the 2021 recruiting class, and missing on several prospects in the 2022 class. In 2022, MSU landed Jaxon Kohler, who is more of a stretch four, than a center in my opinion, but may be able to play center depending on his body development.

Izzo is determined to not let 2023 be the same for his Spartans on the recruiting trail, as he as identified Xavier Booker of Cathedral High School in Indianapolis, Indiana, as a must-have target in 2023.

Izzo was personally in attendance for the Indiana high school state finals to watch Booker play and to hopefully further his relationship with the center.
