Oklahoma at West Virginia: Three things you need to know

  1. Oklahoma comes into the game off of a 65-51 dusting of the 2019 National Champion runner-up Texas Tech Red Raiders. The win snapped a three-game losing streak for the Sooners.
  2. West Virginia has lost two straight games and five of six games, including a 67-57 loss to the Texas Longhorns Feb. 24.
  3. These two teams have split each of their last four meetings with Oklahoma winning their lone season meeting, 69-59, on February 8.

Prediction

West Virginia 71, Oklahoma 60

Moneyline (ML)

Since 2016, Oklahoma (+310) has the second-worst road record in the Big XII (10-33) and fourth-worst mark against ranked opponents (10-23). West Virginia (-400) sits at No. 19 in the USA TODAY Sports men’s college basketball poll and is dominant at home with a 13-1 record in the WVU Coliseum. The payout for the Sooners isn’t high enough, and betting $400 to win $100 if the Mountaineers win outright is awful value.

Against the Spread (ATS)

Like Oklahoma, West Virginia -7.5 (-121) is terrible on the road and awesome at home. I say that to give a reason for the 10-point whooping the Sooners put on the Mountaineers in Norman, Okla. +7.5 (even) in their first meeting. We should count on a more dialed-in West Virginia team, and one looking for revenge, at home on Saturday. They’ve covered five of their last seven games against Oklahoma and are 9-5 against the spread in home games. Also, against winning team West Virginia is 6-3 ATS at home this season.

BET WEST VIRGINIA -7.5 (-121).

Over/Under (O/U)

You either BET UNDER 135.5 (-110) or stay away from the total. The combined Over/Under record of the two teams is 19-47, and the Under has cashed in five of their last seven meetings. The Under is 9-2 in Sooners’ last 11 games as an underdog and 5-0 in Mountaineers’ last five games as a home favorite.

The Mountaineers are ranked 13th in the USA TODAY Sports men’s basketball coaches poll.

Texas at West Virginia: Three things you need to know

1. West Virginia is coming off an 84-68 spanking at the hands of Kansas State in Manhattan over the weekend. However, they’re 10-0 against the spread in their past 10 games at WVU Coliseum so far this season.

3. Longhorns G Matt Coleman III and F Jericho Sims are the dynamic duo for the visitors. Coleman leads in points (12.0), assists (4.3) and steals (1.6) per game, while Sims leads the way in boards (8.1), field-goal percentage (67.0) and blocked shots (1.4) per outing.

Against the Spread (ATS)

WEST VIRGINIA (-9, -110) opened as a double-digit favorite, but it has been bet down to single digits. Perhaps it is a little nervousness on the side of the public after the Mountaineers were just hammered by K-State. Still, they’re 5-1 ATS in the past six games overall and 4-0 ATS in the past four at home.

Texas (+9, -110) is a dismal 4-11 ATS in the past 15 games overall, and 1-5 ATS in the past six games against teams with a winning mark.

Over/Under (O/U)

UNDER 127.5 (-106) is worth a small-unit play. The Under is 8-2 in West Virginia’s past 10 games overall, while going 4-1 in the past five for Texas.
