Wisconsin vs South Dakota: How to Watch

The Wisconsin Badgers (1-0) football team is back in action on Saturday, hosting South Dakota (1-0) in the second game of the year.

Kickoff is set for 2:30 p.m. CT, 3:30 p.m. ET at Camp Randall Stadium as the Badgers will look to improve to 2-0 on the season.

The Badgers are coming off a 28-14 win over Western Michigan in Week 1. Quarterback Tyler Van Dyke completed 21 passes on 36 attempts for 192 passing yards in the game, also adding 21 rushing yards and a touchdown on the ground. Additionally, Chez Mellusi and Tawee Walker added 140 rushing yards and two touchdowns combined.

South Dakota defeated Northern State 45-3 in Week 1 with running back Charles Pierre Jr. leading the way with 136 rushing yards and two touchdowns.

One-on-one interview with Wisconsin CB Xavier Lucas after Week 1

The Wisconsin Badgers football team knocked off Western Michigan 28-14 in their season opener Friday and freshman cornerback Xavier Lucas provided quite the highlight play.

Lucas finished the contest with two total tackles (one solo) and an interception, which he secured to put the game on ice with less than two minutes remaining.

The cornerback was kind enough to give us a couple minutes of his time at the program’s weekly media availability, diving into what it means for him to get an opportunity to play as a true freshman.

“I can’t explain how much I appreciate them (coaching staff). Not everybody gets the opportunity, but when it comes, you have to maximize it,” Lucas explained.

The Badgers will now gear up to face South Dakota (1-0) at home Saturday before they’ll host Alabama on Sept. 14. Lucas knows how important it is to take it one game at a time.

“We have got to stay in the now. We’ll get to next week when it comes. We go day by day, take it as it comes. We’re focusing on executing our game plan for this week to come out victorious,” Lucas outlined.

Operating alongside the likes of Ricardo Hallman and Nyzier Fourqurean at cornerback in Wisconsin’s secondary, Lucas will look to emerge as another playmaker with the Badgers in 2024.

Wisconsin (1-0) welcomes South Dakota (1-0) to Madison on Saturday at 2:30 p.m. CT for its second contest of the 2024 season. It will be the third all-time meeting between the two schools and the first since 2011.

The Badgers own a 2-0 record against the Coyotes, knocking them off in their last meeting 59-10 in September 2011. They won their only prior matchup 48-7 in 1975.

Wisconsin is coming off a 28-14 win over Western Michigan in Week 1, rallying to win the contest after trailing 14-13 in the fourth quarter. Running Tawee Walker and quarterback Tyler Van Dyke each scored a rushing touchdown as the Badgers scored 15 points unanswered to close the game.

When it comes to South Dakota, the Badgers have never lost to an FCS opponent, posting a 13-0 overall record all-time. The Coyotes are coming off a dominant 45-3 win over Northern State in Week 1, a performance they will look to replicate at Camp Randall Stadium on Saturday.
