Wisconsin hands out first in-state offer in 2025 to CB Tre Poteat

Wisconsin hands out their first in-state offer of the 2025 recruiting class:

On Monday night, Paul Chryst and his coaching staff extended their first in-state offer of the 2025 recruiting class to defensive back Tre Poteat out of Verona, Wisconsin.

This offer comes on the heels of a strong performance in front of Wisconsin’s coaching staff during their team camp this past week.

If the name Poteat sounds familiar, it’s because Tre is the son of current Badgers cornerback’s coach Hank Poteat.

Although he has yet to play at the varsity level, the in-state corner possesses all of the elite traits you like to see in a young CB prospect. You can watch his highlights here.

Standing at 6-foot, 170 pounds, the Verona High School standout already holds offers from Connecticut, Eastern Kentucky, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Nebraska, Toledo, and now Wisconsin.

Poteat is just the seventh player in the 2025 recruiting class to receive a scholarship offer from Wisconsin, and the first player from inside the state.

Wisconsin in a must win recruiting battle for three-star QB Lincoln Kienholz

A big recruiting weekend at UW is all the more important at QB:

Wisconsin is in the midst of a pretty significant recruiting weekend, hosting a plethora of high priority targets for official visits on campus.

As important as this weekend is, it’s especially important that Paul Chryst and his coaching staff make a lasting impression on three-star quarterback Lincoln Kienholz who they offered last month.

Per 247sports, Kienholz is the No. 60 ranked quarterback prospect in the 2023 recruiting class, and the top ranked player in the state of South Dakota.

The South Dakota native recently trimmed his list of schools down to four, focusing on Washington, Wisconsin, Wyoming, and North Dakota State moving forward.

Essentially, UW has all their eggs in the Kienholz basket at the moment, after missing out on top targets Brayden Dorman and JJ Kohl. Several writers have even speculated that this recruitment likely comes down to Wisconsin and North Dakota in the end.

Aside from the proximity to home, the obvious draw to North Dakota is their track record with quarterbacks, having put their last three starters into the NFL. That said, the opportunity to play in the Big Ten might be too much for Kienholz to pass up.

This is a must win recruitment for the Badgers, who may have found a late bloomer in the 2023 recruiting cycle, and are in desperate need of a signal caller in this recruiting class.

Wisconsin offers 2024 DB Emiril Gant

Wisconsin has offered a new defensive back in the 2024 recruiting class:

Yesterday, Paul Chryst and his coaching staff offered little known 2024 defensive back Emiril Gant out of Lake Mary, Florida.

If Lake Mary sounds familiar, it’s because Gant is currently high school teammates with high priority cornerback prospect Braden Marshall from the 2023 recruiting class.

According to all reputable recruiting outlets, this appears to be Gant’s first division one scholarship offer.

Per MaxPreps, the Lake Mary High School product registered 10 tackles and a fumble recovery in six games on defense. You can check out his sophomore highlights here.

The 5-foot-11, 175-pound DB announced his scholarship offer from the University of Wisconsin via his Twitter account:

Per the 247Sports composite, Arnold is the No. 443 overall prospect in the 2023 recruiting class, the No. 46 CB in the country, and the No. 40 player in the state of Georgia.

The Marietta High School standout currently holds offers from Wisconsin, Vanderbilt, North Carolina, East Carolina, Florida, Georgia, Georgia State, Georgia Tech, Louisville, Mississippi State, Ole Miss, and Tennessee.

The 5-foot-10, 168-pound CB is expected to take an official visit to Madison the weekend of June 17-19.

Wisconsin makes top three for 2024 four-star F Cooper Koch

The Badgers make the top three for a four-star F in the 2024 recruiting class:

After Greg Gard offered 2024 forward Cooper Koch back in September, the four-star wing out of Peoria, Illinois has officially narrowed down his list of schools down to three.

According to a report by Sean Bock of 247Sports, the Illinois native will be focusing on Iowa, Wisconsin, and Purdue moving forward. He also held offers from Bradley, Illinois, Indiana, Wake Forest, and Western Illinois.

Per 247sports, Koch is the No. 51 overall prospect in the 2024 recruiting class, the No. 8 PF in the country, and the No. 4 player in the state of Illinois.

As a sophomore, the 6-foot-7, 205-pound forward averaged 16 points, seven rebounds, four assists, two steals, and one block on 49% shooting from beyond the arc for Notre Dame High School.

It will be interesting to see which Big Ten school ultimately lands the talented four-star forward, as he appears to be headed towards an early commitment.
