Vikings announce “Winter Whiteout” for Christmas Eve

The Vikings will have a special atmosphere on Christmas Eve

The Minnesota Vikings are well known for their purple jerseys. It has been a staple of the team since it’s inception in 1961. On Christmas Eve, the Vikings will be trying something different.

Akin to what Penn State does every season, the Vikings announced that they will do their first-ever winter whiteout where they ask the fans to wear nothing but white to create a special atmosphere.

If you have never seen what Happy Valley looks and feels like during its whiteout games, it’s a special experience. The Minnesota Golden Gophers were the opponent in their whiteout game this season and it was an electric atmosphere.

Vikings fans, let’s create something special on Christmas Eve.

Watch a British couple on YouTube react to a Penn State white out

Watch this British couple on YouTube react to a Penn State whiteout

Ask any college football fan one thing that should be on every fan’s bucket list, and a Penn State primetime whiteout is likely to be included somewhere in the conversation. The whiteout has built a reputation for being a must-see event, and there is not a lot that can compete with in person.

But imagine witnessing a whiteout for the first time without any real knowledge of the sport of college football. How is that experience for someone with no awareness of the traditions and pageantry that goes with college football? Well, thanks to YouTube, we don’t have to imagine it. We can witness a live reaction.

British YouTubes The Beesleys react to all kinds of videos on their YouTube channel. Recently, the couple reacted to a video of the team entrance for the 2019 Penn State whiteout game against Michigan, which famously led to the Wolverines having to call a timeout on the first play of the game.

This video shows the couple watching the entire pregame atmosphere and team entrance right up until that famous Michigan timeout. They are clearly in awe and appreciative of the passion flowing through Beaver Stadium.

Penn State went on to win that 2019 meeting with the Wolverines. Perhaps we’ll see this British couple in a future crowd for a whiteout.

Penn State announces white out and stripe out games for 2022

When is Penn State’s white out game this season? Details confirmed.

Penn State started the month of June off by confirming details for its 2022 white out game on the football schedule, and it’s the one game that some fans seemed to fear. Penn State officially announced it will hold its white out game against Minnesota Golden Gophers on Oct. 22.

Penn State’s home game against Minnesota is already locked into a primetime slot on the broadcast schedule for the Big Ten, although the specific network that will air the game has yet to be determined. Minnesota will be the eighth different visiting school to be given the white out treatment and the fourth Big Ten team in total. Ohio State, Michigan, Iowa, and Illinois have all taken part in a white out game since the first stadium-wide white out in 2007 against Notre Dame.

Penn State will also be sporting its Generations of Greatness uniform for the game in honor of homecoming.

Fans will still have to plan accordingly with their gameday attire the following week, however. Penn State’s home game against Ohio State has been designated as a stripe out game in Beaver Stadium. Ohio State visits Beaver Stadium on Oct. 29 with fans in attendance for the matchup for the first time since 2018 (no fans were allowed in the stands in 2020, Ohio State’s last trip to Happy Valley).

While fans attending the Stripe Out Game will be asked to color coordinate based on which section they are sitting, the student section will still be doing a white out.

Penn State also confirmed the themes for each home game on the 2022 schedule. They are;

  • Sept. 10 vs Ohio – 107k Family Reunion, State of Excellence, Youth Basketball and Spirit Day, Faculty and Staff
  • Sept. 24 vs. Central Michigan – 1982 National Championship Team Recognition, THON, Scout Day
  • Oct. 1 vs. Northwestern – All-University Day
  • Oct. 22 vs. Minnesota – Homecoming, Penn State White Out, Generations of Greatness
  • Oct. 29 vs. Ohio State – Penn State Stripe Out
  • Nov. 12 vs. Maryland – Military Appreciation Day, Seats for Servicemembers
  • Nov. 26 vs. Michigan State – Senior Day

Auburn announces new helmet ahead of White Out at Penn State

What do you think about the change?

Auburn football is fighting with fire.

The Tigers teased a new white facemask ahead of the game with Penn State, which will be Penn State’s annual White Out game.

It is the first change to the uniforms Auburn has made since it wore No. 7 on its helmets in the 2020 Outback Bowl to honor Pat Sullivan after his passing.

Auburn fans have been asking for minor changes to the football uniform for years, perhaps they will start to experiment with different uniform combinations moving forward.

The Tigers will take on Penn State Saturday night at Beaver Stadium at 6:30 CT.
