Texans list 7 players on first injury report of Week 7

The #Texans had seven players listed on the first injury report ahead of their Week 7 tilt with the #Raiders.

The Houston Texans have released their first injury report ahead of their Week 7 tilt with the Las Vegas Raiders.

A total of seven players were listed on the injury report for Houston fresh off the bye week and after their first win of the season back in Week 5. The good news is that at least one player didn’t participate due to a veteran rest day.

Defensive lineman Maliek Collins (Knee), wide receiver Brandin Cooks (Rest), defensive lineman Jerry Hughes (Knee) and wide receiver Chris Moore (Hip) were all listed as non-participants in practice on Wednesday. Lovie Smith said it was the “coach’s decision” to rest Cooks.

Wide receiver Nico Collins (Achilles/Wrist), Offensive lineman Austin Deculus (Ankle) and TE Brevin Jordan were listed as limited.

As for the opponents, the Raiders only had one non-participant in practice with tight end Darren Waller sitting out with a hamstring injury. He told reporters that playing this weekend might be a stretch for him.

Linebacker Jayon Brown, wide receiver Mack Hollins and tight end Foster Moreau were considered limited participants.

First injury report for Chiefs vs. 49ers, Week 7

The first injury report ahead of the #Chiefs vs. #49ers Week 7 game is here:

The Kansas City Chiefs and San Francisco 49ers both released their first injury reports of the week on Wednesday. The Chiefs’ list seems substantially reduced compared to previous weeks, while the 49ers seem to be dealing with several significant injuries to key players.

Check out the injury report for each team down below:

What to know from Packers’ first injury report of Week 7

Everything to know from the Packers’ first injury report of Week 7, including DNPs from Aaron Rodgers and Christian Watson and a full practice from Rashan Gary.

The Green Bay Packers released the team’s first injury report of Week 7 on Wednesday. The team will release two more injury reports, including a final injury report on Friday with official injury designations before Sunday’s showdown with the Washington Commanders.

Here’s everything to know from the first injury report:

– Outside linebacker Rashan Gary, who played through a toe injury last week, was a full participant at Wednesday’s practice. That’s a good sign in terms of this being a truly minor injury.

– Quarterback Aaron Rodgers did not practice while rehabbing a thumb injury. He said the plan is the same as last week: sit Wednesday, return to practice on Thursday and Friday and then play Sunday.

– Receiver Randall Cobb (ankle) and offensive lineman Jake Hanson (biceps) did not practice after suffering injuries against the Jets. Both could be injured reserve candidates by the end of the week.

– Rookie receiver Christian Watson, who didn’t play last week, wasn’t available to practice Wednesday while nursing a hamstring injury. He might be hard-pressed to play Sunday.

– Offensive tackles David Bakhtiari and Elgton Jenkins continue to be limited participants at practice.

– Receiver Sammy Watkins did return to practice, but he remains on IR.

– The Commanders were without six players at practice Wednesday: quarterback Carson Wentz, cornerback William Jackson III, tight end Logan Thomas, running back Jonathan Williams, tight end John Bates and receiver Dyami Brown. Offensive tackle Sam Cosmi and receiver Jahan Dotson were limited.

Falcons Week 7 injury report: A.J. Terrell, Mykal Walker return

Falcons CB A.J. Terrell and LB Mykal Walker returned to practice on Wednesday.

The Atlanta Falcons (3-3) will head to Cincinnati in Week 6 for a matchup against the 3-3 Bengals. After staying relatively healthy for the first five games, the Falcons lost some key players during Sunday’s 28-14 win over the 49ers, including both starting cornerbacks A.J. Terrell and Casey Hayward.

Hayward has since been placed on the injured reserve list, but Terrell practiced on Wednesday and appears to be on track to play this weekend. Linebacker Mykal Walker also returned to practice after sitting out in Week 6.

Check out the team’s Wednesday injury report below.

Chiefs HC Andy Reid provides injury update ahead of Wednesday practice

A trio of players will miss the first #Chiefs practice of the week on Wednesday. Plus updates on Trent McDuffie, Bryan Cook, Blake Bell and Lucas Niang.

Kansas City Chiefs HC Andy Reid provided his usual pre-practice injury update on Wednesday.

A trio of Chiefs players will be absent as the team kicks off the practice week. Reid gave the rundown on those injuries.

“The guys that won’t practice today — Mike Danna won’t practice — though he’s doing better we’re just going to hold him out,” Reid said. “And then, (Joe) Thuney fits into that same category with the ankle sprain. So, he won’t practice today. We’re just monitoring those two guys. Then (Rashad) Fenton won’t practice with the hamstring.”

Danna has been dealing with a calf injury and played 25 defensive snaps in the Week 6 game against the Buffalo Bills. Joe Thuney was rolled up on by a defender and Patrick Mahomes during the course of the game, suffering an ankle sprain. He played all 67 offensive snaps for Kansas City in Week 6.

It seems like both of these players are just getting rest days to start the week, but should be good to go for the Week 7 game in San Francisco.

As for the secondary situation, Fenton misses his fourth consecutive practice with a hamstring injury. Trent McDuffie, who Reid spoke in-depth about on Monday, will practice as things get underway on Wednesday.

“(Trent) McDuffie will practice and we’ll just see how he does as we go,” Reid said.

Bryan Cook, who missed Week 6 with a concussion, is also back at practice on Wednesday per Reid.

Reid also gave an update on Lucas Niang (Knee/PUP) and Blake Bell (Hip/IR). Neither player will be back this week, but Reid does expect them back at some point this season.

“Most likely it’ll be after the bye (week),” Reid said. “Somewhere after the bye. But they are getting better. We just have to see how it goes.”

Michigan backfield duo dominate in Big Ten’s Week 7 top performances

Blake Corum and Donovan Edwards lead this week’s top performers.

In Week 7, 10 of the 14 Big Ten teams were in action. No Friday night lights this time as all five games took place on Saturday. It all began with Illinois improving to 6-1 on the season to remain in a tie for first in the Big Ten West with Purdue, who outlasted Nebraska.

Each game was relatively close with the exception of Michigan-Penn State. The game was close at the half but the Wolverines ran away with this victory thanks to the performances of the offensive line, the running backs, and a stifling defense.

With a new week of games comes the final look back at Week 7 with the top conference performers voted on by our Big Ten site editors.

Broncos vs. Jets: Quick game preview for Week 7

Here is our early preview for the Broncos’ game against the Jets this week.

The Denver Broncos (2-4) are set to host the New York Jets (4-2) at Empower Field at Mile High in Week 7. Here’s our quick game preview for the AFC showdown.

Broncos’ keys to victory: Jets QB Zach Wilson is off to a slow after returning from injury with one touchdown pass, two interceptions and five sacks through his last three games. The second-year QB will be making just his 17th career start in the NFL and Denver’s defense will aim to pressure him into mistakes. Broncos OLB Baron Browning has looked excellent filling in for injured OLB Randy Gregory and he’ll face a shaky New York line this week. In the secondary, CB Pat Surtain has emerged as one of the NFL’s best in his second season. The combination of pressure and tight coverage should help Denver force turnovers, which could decide the game.

Jet’s keys to victory: RB Breece Hall has been a bright spot for New York, especially over the last two games. Hall has totaled 318 yards from scrimmage and scored four touchdowns since Week 5. To beat the Broncos’ defense, Wilson will need to protect the ball and lean on Hall and fellow RB Michael Carter. Denver’s offense has struggled to score this year, so the Jets can control the clock and wear the Broncos’ defense down with a run-heavy attack. On defense, the Jets will look to create mismatches on the line to disrupt Denver’s inconsistent passing attack.

Matchup to watch: Broncos LT Calvin Anderson vs. Jets DE Carl Lawson. After losing LT Garett Bolles to a broken leg, Denver turned to Anderson, who will make his seventh career start on Sunday. Anderson will face a tough matchup in Lawson, who has totaled 14 QB hits and 2.5 sacks this year.

Who wins? In a battle of talented defenses, the Jets’ run game should give New York an edge on the road. Jets 21, Broncos 20.

Brian Kelly describes his emotions after Florida win

Kelly said he didn’t feel like the Tigers caught a lot of breaks on Saturday and thought they deserved to win.

It was an emotional night in Gainesville, Florida, as [autotag]Brian Kelly[/autotag] became the first coach in LSU history to defeat Auburn and Florida on the road in the same season.

Neither of the wins came easy, either. LSU escaped Jordan-Hare Stadium with a 21-17 victory after only passing for five yards in the second half. Florida was the second true road game of the year and this time the offense came out swinging.

[autotag]Jayden Daniels[/autotag] looked the best he has looked all season, the offensive line looked good, and [autotag]Josh Williams[/autotag] had a great game. The defense wasn’t perfect, and special teams had some struggles, but it was still a great win. Kelly was asked about his visible emotions on the sideline after the game.

“You’re kind of trying to build this thing,” he said. “You know, I just felt like we didn’t get a lot of breaks tonight. It just seemed like every replay went against us. It seemed like we got — you know, Jack (Bech) is our best returner. And he’s trying to return one when maybe he should have fair caught it. He’s our best guy and it gets on the ground, I just felt like our guys deserve to win that game.

“So when something went well, my emotions probably showed. And I felt like we deserved a break or two. Sure, the play deep to Jaray (Jenkins) is that. A veteran play where he sees all size and then just the throw he made, it was kind of one of those throws you’ve been encouraging, right? Yeah, it’s, listen, you’ve got them offside. It was called our Freeze and Go. We’re trying to get them offside. But we’ve got to go attached to it.”

The Tigers return back home this weekend to take on the Ole Miss Rebels. That game is scheduled for a 2:30 p.m. CT kickoff on CBS.
