Here’s what Chiefs’ Travis Kelce can accomplish on National Tight Ends Day

#Chiefs TE Travis Kelce can make some NFL history against the #49ers on #NationalTightEndsDay.

[sendtonews_embed video_id=”DoUr3OjemC-2309057-7498″]

On Sunday, Oct. 23, NFL fans celebrate the obscure holiday known as National Tight Ends Day. It just so happens to fall on a football Sunday too, which means that Kansas City Chiefs TE Travis Kelce will have a chance to break some records on the holiday celebrating his position group.

If Kelce records at least nine receptions and 45 receiving yards on Sunday, he will have totaled at least 50 receptions and 500 receiving yards for the ninth consecutive season. He’ll pass former NFL TE Antonio Gates to have the third-most such seasons in NFL history. Only former NFL TEs Jason Witten (15) and Tony Gonzalez (16) have more.

Should Kelce score a touchdown against the 49ers on Sunday, it’ll be his seventh consecutive road game with a touchdown dating back to Week 15 of the 2021 NFL season. He’ll pass former NFL TEs Vernon Davis and Rich Caster (6) to tie Marcus Pollard (7) for the most consecutive road games with a touchdown by a tight end in NFL history.

Last, but not least. If Kelce records 100 receiving yards against the 49ers on Sunday, he will tie former NFL TE Rob Gronkowski for the most career 100-yard receiving games in NFL history by a tight end with 32 career 100-yard receiving games.

It seems like every week with Kelce, there is a new record to break. He already set franchise records for the most consecutive games with a reception and the most career 100-yard receiving games. He’s moved up the leaderboards to record the fifth-most career receiving yards by a tight end. Knowing that the 49ers haven’t done a particularly great job covering tight ends this season, it’s certainly possible that we see Kelce achieve all three of these records on National Tight Ends Day.

Falcons Week 7 inactives list: Dee Alford out vs. Bengals

The Atlanta Falcons have announced their inactives for Sunday’s game against the Cincinnati Bengals.

The Atlanta Falcons have released their inactives list for Sunday’s game against the Cincinnati Bengals. Five players, including cornerback Dee Alford, have been ruled out.

Alford has played well in the slot but a hamstring injury will keep him off the field in Week 7. On the bright side, cornerback A.J. Terrell is expected to play. The Falcons will need a big day from their secondary in order to slow a dangerous Bengals offense.

Atlanta has ruled these five players out for Sunday’s game in Cincinnati.

Packers inactives: Who’s in, who’s out for Week 7 vs. Commanders

David Bakhtiari is OUT. Sammy Watkins is ACTIVE. Here’s a quick look at the inactive list for the Packers in Week 7 against the Commanders.

The Green Bay Packers won’t have left tackle David Bakhtiari for Sunday’s showdown with the Washington Commanders. The All-Pro is officially inactive after he was re-listed as questionable to play on Saturday.

Bakhtiari’s knee is the problem again. Yosh Nijman will be expected to start at left tackle, although the Packers were shuffling around the offensive line this week so any number of combinations are possible.

There is good news: veteran receiver Sammy Watkins is active and will play.

Rookie receiver Christian Watson, who is still dealing with a hamstring injury, is inactive for the second consecutive week. He was ruled out on Friday.

Receiver Randall Cobb (ankle) and offensive lineman Jake Hanson (biceps) were put on injured reserve on Saturday and aren’t listed on the inactive list.

Here’s a quick look at the inactive list for the Packers in Week 7:

Inactive list

WR Christian Watson
LT David Bakhtiari
OLB Jonathan Garvin
OT Luke Tenuta
DL Jonathan Ford

Watson is out for the third time in seven weeks. Bakhtiari will also miss his third game of the season after starting each of the last four games. Garvin is a healthy scratch, highlighting why La’Darius Hamilton was elevated from the practice squad on Saturday. Tenuta was claimed just this week, and Ford has been a healthy inactive all season.

Who’s in

The Packers have receiver Sammy Watkins active, meaning he’ll play for the first time since injuring his hamstring in Week 2. Rookies Sean Rhyan, Rasheed Walker and Samori Toure are active for the first time this season.

Commanders inactive list

WR Jahan Dotson
CB William Jackson III
TE Logan Thomas
WR Dyami Brown
RB Jonathan Williams
G Chris Paul

Texans set to take on Raiders in a battle to decide which is the AFC’s worst team

Though this tilt between two of the NFL’s worst teams by record isn’t getting much hype, it does have implications for end-of-year standings

[sendtonews_embed video_id=”sh1MRn8ECo-2309038-7498″]

In a rare occurrence, the Houston Texans and Las Vegas Raiders are set to play each other on Sunday in a game that will decide which team is the worst in their conference. As it stands now, Houston has a half-game advantage on Las Vegas with their Week 1 tie being the only deciding factor between the teams’ records.

The Raiders sit at 1-4 after securing their only win against the Denver Broncos in early October. They’ve lost to the Los Angeles Chargers, Arizona Cardinals, Tennessee Titans, and Kansas City Chiefs to begin their 2022 campaign, though the scrappiness they have shown in defeat belies their pitiful record.

Given that both teams are at rock-bottom in the AFC standings, most viewers around the country will likely tune into other matchups. The allure of watching the Chiefs take on the San Francisco 49ers in the same time slot may be too much even for Texans and Raiders fans to contend with.

But in a game of this magnitude, unimportant as it may be for the end-of-season playoff picture, intrigue may prove to be easier to find than some think. Houston has a roster that is chock-full of young talent, particularly on defense and is looking to prove that they can win a game on the road against a challenging opponent.

Similarly, the Raiders are out to show Sin City that they aren’t pushovers and that they are better than the absolute worst team in the NFL this season.

Both teams will play on Sunday with nothing to lose except their pride, which could use a win to gain or keep any morale that might help them continue to battle in the coming weeks. Neither of these teams is expected to make the playoff, but that doesn’t matter. Sunday’s tilt between Houston and Las Vegas will determine which team has the guts to play through adversity with an edge and will likely be an early indication of which team might have the conference’s highest draft pick next April.

Here is who you will be able to watch on Sunday courtesy of 506 Sports.

Broncos make QB decision, elevate 2 players from practice squad

Russell Wilson has been ruled out for Week 7. Denver also elevated QB Josh Johnson and LS Mitchell Fraboni from the practice squad.

Russell Wilson wanted to try to play through a hamstring injury against the New York Jets in Week 7, but the Denver Broncos have decided to take a cautious approach with their quarterback this weekend.

Wilson was downgraded from “questionable” to “out” on the team’s injury report on Saturday. After the QB was ruled out, Denver announced that Brett Rypien will start against New York on Sunday.

This will mark the second start of Rypien’s career. His first start was a 37-28 win over the Jets in 2020.

With Wilson set to be inactive, the Broncos elevated quarterback Josh Johnson from the practice squad to serve as Rypien’s backup. The team also elevated long snapper Mitchell Fraboni from the practice squad to the game-day roster. Both players will revert back to the practice squad on Monday.

Denver also placed OLB Aaron Patrick (torn ACL) on injured reserve on Saturday and brought in four players for tryouts: OT Christian DiLauro, LB Emeke Egbule, DE Azur Kamara and LB Zach McCloud.
