Another week, another solid performance by the stud second-year running back. The Indianapolis Colts picked up a win against the Jacksonville Jaguars in a game where Jonathan Taylor went over 100 rushing yards for the fifth time this season and the eighth time of his young and promising career.
He finished the day with 116 rushing yards and a touchdown while adding six receptions for 10 yards. It was clear early on that Taylor was going to have a huge game, especially after a big 34-yard gain on the first play of the game.
However, the Jaguars were able to make adjustments and really shut down Taylor and the Colts offense for much of the second half. That can’t happen against tougher competition that will capitalize off those wasted drives.
The formula for the Colts is simple. Give the ball to Taylor, dominate the line of scrimmage, and good things will come. Having an impactful run game helps in the passing game as well, which we saw today against the Jags.
The Colts will have a much tougher test next week when they travel to Buffalo to take on the Bills. If Indy wants to come away with a win, it’s safe to say Taylor will have to be the centerpiece of the game plan.
