See It: Notre Dame Stadium blanketed with snow

As much as the first snow of the year is unwelcomed it does mean for some nice photographs on Notre Dame’s campus.

Over the weekend, where I live in the Chicago suburbs we were hit with our first snow of the season.  It came down rather hard a couple of times on Friday but none of it stuck and we had nothing more than a few flurries during the weekend.

On Friday night in Grandville, Michigan, snow fell hard as Notre Dame commitment in the 2022 recruiting class Josh Burnham helped guide Traverse City Central to a playoff victory.

Then on Sunday the snow hit South Bend and it took freshman running back Logan Diggs of Louisiana a bit by surprise.

As unwelcome as the first snow usually is, it does however leave Notre Dame campus looking beautiful.

And Notre Dame Stadium doesn’t look have bad with a white blanket on top of it, either.

Monday will be chilly in South Bend but temperatures are expected to be in the 50s this week so that snow will likely be long gone by the time Notre Dame hosts Georgia Tech for senior day this Saturday.

Notre Dame commitment dashes through snow to final four

A little snow couldn’t slow down future Irish linebacker @JoshuaBurnham20 on Friday night…

Snow fell in different parts of the midwest on Friday, something I could have done without.  Where I’m at outside Chicago though, almost no snow stuck Friday despite it falling like crazy at times.

Where Notre Dame linebacker commitment Josh Burnham plays in Michigan however, the snow was falling and sticking.  Burnham, a four-star linebacker recruit in the 2022 class, dashed through it on offense in guiding Traverse City Central to a victory and trip to the state’s final four.  Burnham scored four rushing touchdowns in Central’s 42-14 victory over Caledonia.  Check  out a few of the highlights below:

Burnham then spoke to a reporter after the game and discussed the conditions and how to avoid losing in the semi-finals a second year in a row:

Burnham and Traverse City Central now take on unbeaten South Lyon for a trip to Ford Field and the state finals next week.

Notre Dame-Navy Football: Perfect weather for rivalry renewal

‘Alexa: tell me what a perfect November Saturday in South Bend looks like’

No. 10 (CFP) Notre Dame looks to move to 8-1 on the year later this afternoon when they welcome Navy to Notre Dame Stadium.  Although the dislike for Navy might not be anywhere near the same as it is towards other traditional rivals of the Irish, the tradition is strong as Notre Dame has played the Midshipmen more than any other team all-time.

The weather for the first meeting between Notre Dame and Navy will be as perfect as perfect gets in early November.  The Weather Channel calls for it to be 55-degrees at kickoff, the sun to be shining all afternoon.  The only slight issue will be a southwest breeze of about 10 mph.

No. 11 Notre Dame vs. North Carolina: Weather Forecast

This will be a nice change of pace after a pretty rough weather week in the midwest

Rain swept through the midwest this week and caused a few of those fall days that we don’t like to talk about.  High-30’s and low-40’s, no sign of the sun, and you can’t walk to the end of the driveway without your feet being soaked.

Saturday night in South Bend will be anything but as No. 11 Notre Dame welcomes North Carolina to town for the second home night game in as many weeks for the Irish.  The forecast calls for pretty much perfect conditions Saturday night.

The Accuweather forecast calls for 55-degrees during the day in South Bend while temperatures will drop only slightly  to 45-degrees when the sun goes down.

This is a perfect night for football college and if I didn’t have a two-year-olds birthday party to put the finishing touches on for tomorrow you can bet I’d be headed east on the Indiana toll road this afternoon.

Notre Dame-USC: Weather Forecast

Does it get more perfect?

When Notre Dame hosts USC on Saturday night in South Bend it looks to be a pleasant October evening with little wind and no precipitation.

The latest forecast calls for nearly perfect tailgating conditions as the afternoon high will reach the high-50s while temperature at kickoff will likely be in the high-40s.

Notre Dame will be looking for their fourth-straight win in the rivalry, which would make it the longest streak in the series for the Irish since winning 11 in a row from 1983-1993.

Rain on the way for Notre Dame-Cincinnati showdown

Who does rain on Saturday favor: Notre Dame or Cincinnati?

No. 7 Notre Dame and No. 8 Cincinnati are set to meet in a showdown Saturday that has major College Football Playoff (CFP) implications. The winner doesn’t necessarily have a free path to the CFP but each will be clear of their biggest obstacles.

What will the weather be like as Cincinnati makes their first trip to Notre Dame Stadium for what is likely the biggest game in program history?

A perfect temperature but perhaps a chance of rain for part of the contest according to Meteorologist Matt Yarosewick of WNDU:

Gone are the days of natural grass at Notre Dame Stadium which means wet conditions no longer tear up the track quite like they used to.  However, the elements can still make for slipping issues and it more difficult to hold onto the football.

Ryder Cup weather: Fall temperatures set in at Whistling Straits; rain possible Thursday

How’s the weather looking for the Ryder Cup?

Ryder Cup crowds should stay mostly dry this week, but they’ll want to bring a jacket as cooler, fall temperatures set in.

There’s a chance for rain Thursday morning and into the afternoon as a low-pressure system moves over Lake Michigan, according to the National Weather Service in Milwaukee. The weather pattern could lead to light precipitation Thursday into Friday afternoon.

“There’s going to be a cold front passing through, but low-level moisture is pretty low. You might see a sprinkle out of that but nothing too impactful,” said meteorologist Cameron Miller. “As far as temperatures are concerned it’s actually going to be quite cool.”

After a warm weekend, Tuesday’s high will be in the mid-60s as an upper-level low-pressure system lingers over the area. Wednesday, the first day of autumn, and Thursday will also stay in the 60s with cloud cover over most of the area. Friday and bring a chance for showers with highs in the mid-60s to low 70s. Sunday is expected to be sunny with a high near 70.

Miller said severe weather isn’t expected.

“Nothing out of the ordinary,” he said. “We’re a little bit below average on temperatures, but at this time of year when we’re going into fall that’s typically when we get these pushes of warm air.”
