Washington Wizards at Indiana Pacers odds, picks and predictions

[gambcom-standard rankid=”4141″ ]

The Washington Wizards (2-12) and Indiana Pacers (6-10) meet Sunday at the Gainbridge Fieldhouse. Tip-off is set for 5 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s NBA odds around the Wizards vs. Pacers odds and make our expert NBA picks and predictions for the best bets.

Season series: First meeting; Pacers won 2 of 3 last season

The Wizards suffered their 10th straight loss Friday, 117-102 against the Boston Celtics. Washington managed to cover as 15.5-point home underdogs, with the Under 238.5 cashing. G Jordan Poole led the team with 23 points,  but also committed 4 turnovers. Washington’s only victories this season are  back-to-back wins over the Atlanta Hawks at the end of October.

The Pacers dropped their third straight game on Friday, losing 129-117 to the Milwaukee Bucks as 5.5-point road underdogs. The Over 235.5 cashed with ease, fueled by Milwaukee’s stellar shooting from deep, hitting 17-of-36 shots (47.2%). F Pascal Siakam led the Pacers with 25 points and 8 rebounds.

Wizards at Pacers picks and predictions

Prediction

Pacers 126, Wizards 111

Moneyline

PASS.

There is no question that the Pacers (-700) are the more talented squad. They should win convincingly at home, but are too costly so I’ll take my bet to the spread.

Against the spread

BET PACERS -11.5 (-110).

This matchup features 2 teams heading in opposite directions. The Wizards are struggling mightily while the Pacers have underperformed, but remain the more talented and experienced squad. Indiana has won 4 of the last 6 meetings with Washington.

The Wizards have been dreadful against the spread, covering just 4 of 14 games this season (2 of their last 10). Washington’s offense is stagnant, shooting 44.4% from the field and averaging just 108.9 points per game. As 12-point underdogs or greater, they’ve covered only once (1-3). Expect the Pacers to cruise to an easy home victory Sunday.

Over/Under

AVOID.

The Wizards are 5-5 on totals in their last 10, while the Pacers have hit the Over in 5 straight, but none exceeded 236. These teams average a combined 223.3 points, 17.2 below the game’s total, making it a tough call.

Boston Celtics at Washington Wizards odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Friday’s Boston Celtics at Washington Wizards odds and lines, with NBA expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”4141″ ]

The Washington Wizards (2-11) welcome the Boston Celtics (12-3) to Capital One Arena Friday for NBA Cup group play. Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s NBA odds around the Celtics vs. Wizards odds and make our expert NBA picks and predictions for the best bets.

Season series: Celtics lead 1-0

The Celtics handed the Cleveland Cavaliers their first loss of the season in a 120-117 home win Tuesday, closing as 6.5-point favorites. They are 5-1 straight up over their last 6 games yet just 2-4 against the spread (ATS). They are 7-8 ATS on the season. Boston is led by F Jayson Tatum, who is averaging 29.9 points per game.

The Wizards have dropped 9 straight games after losing 134-106 at the New York Knicks Monday as 14.5-point underdogs. Washington is just 1-8 ATS over its last 9 games and 3-10 ATS on the season. It is led by G Jordan Poole, who is averaging 21.1 points per game.

Celtics at Wizards picks and predictions

Prediction

Celtics 132, Wizards 114

Moneyline

PASS.

There’s no reason to consider the moneyline here. Washington is playing far too poorly, while the Celtics are too expensive to consider.

Against the spread

BET CELTICS -15.5 (-110).

While the Celtics have struggled to cover as large favorites recently, the Wizards have struggled while getting points. They are 0-6 ATS as double-digit underdogs this season, having lost 2 straight by at least 20 points.

Washington’s defense has been atrocious, allowing at least 124 points in 4 straight games. The Celtics can take advantage, as they have scored at least 120 in 3 straight. Boston is 4-5 ATS as a double-digit favorite.

Expect it to dominate the reeling Wizards, and back CELTICS -15.5 (-110).

Over/Under

BET OVER 237.5 (-110).

The Celtics defense has been uncharacteristically porous as of late, allowing at least 114 points in 4 straight. The Celtics are 4-0 O/U in their last 4 games and 8-6-1 O/U on the season.

The Wizards, due to their league-worst defense, are 8-5 O/U and 3-1 O/U in their last 4 games. They are 3-2 O/U at home. Considering those defensive trends, back OVER 237.5 (-110).

Washington Wizards at New York Knicks odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Monday’s Washington Wizards at New York Knicks odds and lines, with NBA expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”4141″ ]

The Washington Wizards (2-10) and New York Knicks (6-6) meet Monday at Madison Square Garden. Tip-off is set for 7:30 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s NBA odds around the Wizards vs. Knicks odds and make our expert NBA picks and predictions for the best bets.

Season series: First meeting; Knicks swept 3-0 last season

The Wizards extended their losing streak to 8 games with a 124-104 loss to the Detroit Pistons on Sunday. Washington failed to cover as 5-point home underdogs while the Under 232 cashed. F Kyle Kuzma and G Jordan Poole each finished with 22 points.

The Knicks completed a home-and-home sweep of the Brooklyn Nets with a 114-104 victory Sunday. They pushed as 10-point home favorites and the Under 222.5 hit. Four Knicks starters scored 20 or more points, with F Karl-Anthony Towns leading the way with 26 points, 15 rebounds, 6 assists, 1 steal, and 1 block.

Wizards at Knicks picks and predictions

Prediction

Knicks 124, Wizards 109

Moneyline

PASS.

The Knicks (-1100) will win this game, but it’s obviously not smart to bet 11 units to win 1 anytime. Take your wager to spread and/or total.

Against the spread

BET KNICKS -13.5 (-110).

Towns sat out the first leg of the home-and-home series against the Nets, but returned strong in the second with 26 points and 15 rebounds. The Wizards lack a player to challenge him in the paint, with rookie Alexandre Sarr still developing.

Washington has struggled offensively, shooting 44% from the field and 32.7% from 3, both ranking near the bottom of the league. They’re also 1-7 ATS in their last 8 games. In contrast, the Knicks are strong from beyond the arc, creating a significant talent gap.

Over/Under

BET OVER 229.5 (-115).

Both teams are playing the second leg of back-to-back games. The Knicks and Wizards have both hit the Over in 2 of their last 3 games. Washington, ranked second in pace of play, has contributed to inflated totals during their 7-game losing streak. Poole has improved his shooting and scoring and  recently dropped 42 points on the San Antonio Spurs. He should have another big game and while the Wizards are unlikely to secure the win, Poole’s performance should help push the total Over.

Wizards at Spurs picks and predictions

Prediction

Spurs 111, Wizards 99

Moneyline

PASS.

There is no value on the Spurs (-450) to beat a struggling Wizards (+340) squad.

Against the spread

BET SPURS -9.5 (-115).

The Spurs have won and covered twice in the last 3 games with each win by 13 or more points. They have scored at least 110 points in 3 straight games and in 4 of their last 6 while allowing 105 or fewer points in 2 of their last 3 games. The Wizards have scored 104 or fewer points in 4 of their last 5 games and have failed to cover 5 straight and in each of their last 6 games as 9.5-point-or-more underdogs.

Over/Under

BET UNDER 224.5 (-105).

Washington has scored under 98 points in 3 of its last 5 games and hit the Under in 3 of its last 5. San Antonio has hit the Under in back-to-back games allowing 111 or fewer points. It has allowed under 111 points in 8 of its last 10 games.

The Houston Rockets (6-4) welcome the Washington Wizards (2-6) to Toyota Center Monday. Tip-off is set for 8 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s NBA odds around the Wizards vs. Rockets odds and make our expert NBA picks and predictions for the best bets.

Season series: First meeting; Rockets swept 2-0 last season

The Wizards lost to the Orlando Magic 121-94 Sunday, failing to cover as 11.5-point road underdogs. They have played 2 straight road games, losing both by more than 20 points. Washington has lost 4 straight games while going 0-4 against the spread (ATS). It is 2-6 ATS on the season. The Wizards are led by G Jordan Poole, who is averaging 21.1 points per game.

The Rockets, who are 2-3 after a win this season, beat the Detroit Pistons 101-99 Sunday as a 4-point road favorite. They have played at a high level defensively over the last few weeks, allowing 102 or fewer points in 4 of their last 7 games. Houston has played 5 home games, going 3-2 straight up and ATS. It is led by G Jalen Green, who is averaging 21 points per game.

Wizards at Rockets picks and predictions

Prediction

Rockets 118, Wizards 101

Moneyline

PASS.

There’s no reason to think Washington can pull off the upset, especially with how it is playing on the road. Similarly, the Rockets are far too expensive to take to win outright. Avoid this play.

Against the spread

BET ROCKETS -13.5 (-110).

The Wizards have lost 3 straight games by at least 13 points. They are 0-4 ATS this season as double-digit underdogs, and 3 of the losses were by 20 or more points.

Washington has 7 players averaging over 9.5 points per game, and just 3 of them shoot better than 38% from the field. The Rockets — keeping the 38% clip and top 7 scorers the same — have 6 players who hit that mark. Houston has covered 3 of its last 4 home games.

Take ROCKETS -13.5 (-110).

Over/Under

BET UNDER 227.5 (-110).

Neither team has highly efficient offensive weapons. Both have their top 2 scorers shooting under 46% from the field, and the side expected to dominate (Houston) isn’t a team that will push the pace.

The Wizards have scored 104 or fewer points in 3 of their last 4 games.

The Rockets are 4-6 O/U on the season and have scored 109 or fewer points in 3 of their last 4 games.

Considering those trends, take UNDER 227.5 (-110).

Washington Wizards at Memphis Grizzlies odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Friday’s Washington Wizards at Memphis Grizzlies odds and lines, with NBA expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”4141″ ]

The Memphis Grizzlies (5-4) welcome the Washington Wizards (2-4) to FedExForum Friday. Tip is set for 8 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s NBA odds around the Wizards vs. Grizzlies odds and make our expert NBA picks and predictions for the best bets.

Season series: First meeting; tied 1-1 in 2023-24

The Wizards lost to the Golden State Warriors 125-112 Monday, closing as an 11-point home underdog. They have lost two in a row after beating the Atlanta Hawks in back-to-back games. Washington is 1-0 straight up (SU) and against the spread (ATS) in true road gamesand 2-4 ATS on the season. The Wizards defense has been the main issue, allowing at least 118 points in all 6 games. They are led by G Jordan Poole‘s 22.5 points per game (PPG).

The Grizzlies beat the Los Angeles Lakers 131-114 Wednesday, closing as a 4-point home favorite. Memphis is 3-1 straight up and ATS in its last 4 games. It is 3-2 SU/ATS at home this season. The Grizzlies have been surging offensively, scoring at least 122 points 3 times in the last 4 games. Memphis is led by G Ja Morant, who is averaging 20.6 PPG, but will miss the game with a hip injury.

Wizards at Grizzlies odds

Wizards at Grizzlies picks and predictions

Prediction

Grizzlies 116, Wizards 111

Moneyline

PASS.

There’s no real value here. The Grizzlies (-250) are down far too many key weapons for them to be this size of a favorite. Avoid their moneyline play. Similarly, the Wizards (+200) haven’t proven they can defend and aren’t worth a play to pull off the upset.

Against the spread

BET WIZARDS +6.5 (-105).

The Wizards have their top 3 scoring weapons playing in this game, and have scored at least 112 points in 4 of their last 5 games. They are 2-2 ATS in those wins and 1-0 ATS on the road, having taken down the Atlanta Hawks 121-119 in their lone true away match on Oct. 28.

The Grizzlies will be missing 2 of their top 3 scorers, and with Morant really being the offensive driver, his absence will be paramount. Memphis is 0-2 ATS as a favorite of 5 points or greater. With that in mind, back WIZARDS +6.5 (-105).

Over/Under

BET UNDER 231.5 (-110).

The pace of this game isn’t easy to predict as the absence of Morant should weaken the Grizzlies offense, and with F Jaren Jackson Jr. in the paint, Memphis should be able to limit what Washington can get on offense.

The Grizzlies are 2-3 O/U in their last 5 games, allowing 107 or fewer points in 3 of their last 4. The Wizards have scored 112 or fewer points in 2 straight games and are 1-1 O/U in those.

Considering those trends and the lack of firepower available for Memphis, take UNDER 231.5 (-110).

Miami Heat at Washington Wizards odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s Miami Heat at Washington Wizards odds and lines, with NBA expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”4141″ ]

The Miami Heat (2-2) face the Washington Wizards (2-2) Saturday. Tip-off from Mexico, at the Arena Ciudad de Mexico, is scheduled for 9:30 p.m. ET (NBA TV). Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s NBA odds around the Heat vs. Wizards odds and make our expert NBA picks and predictions for the best bets.

Season series: First meeting; Heat won last season’s series 3-1

After dropping their first 2 games, the Wizards are back to .500 beating the Atlanta Hawks on the road and at home. Washington pulled away in the 4th quarter of their last game, dropping 40 points. They also outscored the Hawks 25-12 in fast-break points and won outright as home underdogs (+4.5) 133-120.

The Miami Heat hosted the New York Knicks, as a home underdog, on Wednesday. G Tyler Herro led the Heat with 34, making 8 of 13 3s, which was almost half of Miami’s total buckets from beyond the arc (17). But the Knicks’ new center Karl-Anthony Towns scored 44 to give Miami their 2nd home loss in 3 games, 116-107.

Heat at Wizards picks and predictions

Prediction

Heat 112, Wizards 101

Moneyline

Miami’s offense, while ugly, protects the ball and spreads it around. The Heat have the highest assists per field goal made (0.73) and the second highest assist to turnover ratio (2.29).

Despite being the “road” team, the Heat won’t struggle with the fans with the game in Mexico. However, with the current lines I would PASS here and look to the spread.

Against the spread

While Miami has only covered once this season (1-3), and that time they were a road favorite. The Wizards, when giving a ton of points, have not kept it close. In their 2 losses, they were +14 and +9.5. In each of those games they lost by an average of 19.5 points.

While it’s a big spread, I still think the Heat will win and cover tonight.

LEAN HEAT -9.5 (-110).

Over/Under

Miami’s posts a bottom 5 shooting percentage this season (43.6%). Washington is slightly better (44.9%), but Miami’s top 5 defense will make scoring difficult. In a new venue, I see a low-scoring matchup. The total has already dropped 2 points Saturday morning, which means the books agree.

BET UNDER 222.5 (-105).

Hawks at Wizards picks and predictions

Prediction

Hawks 123, Wizards 115

Moneyline

PASS.

There is better value on the Hawks (-190) spread.

Against the spread

BET HAWKS -4.5 (-115).

Atlanta has lost back-to-back games however it has scored 119 points or more in 3 of its 4 games. Kuzma played a large role in the Wizards’ victory, but he will be sidelined on Wednesday providing a large advantage to the Hawks. Expect Young to pick up more of the slack while leading the Hawks to a convincing road win.

Over/Under

BET OVER 233.5 (-105).

The Hawks have hit the Over in all 4 of their games this season while the Wizards have hit it in 2 of their 3. Atlanta has scored 119 or more points in 3 of its 4 games while allowing 116 or more in all 4. Washington has scored 116 points or more in back-to-back games while allowing 119 points or more in all 3 of its games this season.

Cleveland Cavaliers at Washington Wizards odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s Cleveland Cavaliers at Washington Wizards odds and lines, with NBA expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”4141″ ]

The Cleveland Cavaliers (2-0) and Washington Wizards (0-1) meet Saturday at Capital One Arena with tip-off set for 7 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s NBA odds around the Cavaliers vs. Wizards odds and make our expert NBA picks and predictions for the best bets.

Season series: First meeting; Cleveland swept 4-0 last season

The Cavaliers are coming off a cover as 10.5-point favorites in a 113-101 victory over the visiting Detroit Pistons with the Under (224) hitting.

Cleveland showcased a balanced attack, with all 5 starters scoring double figures. F Dean Wade and G Donovan Mitchell led with 19 points apiece, while C Jarrett Allen posted his first double-double of the season, finishing with 17 points and 11 rebounds.

The Wizards fell short in their season opener, losing 122-102 to the defending champion Boston Celtics and failing to cover as 14-point home underdogs. The Under (231) cashed.

G Jordan Poole led Washington with 26 points, but rookie F Alexandre Sarr, the No. 2 overall pick, had a rough debut, scoring just 2 points on 1-of-7 shooting. Washington’s struggles from 3-point range were evident, shooting just 7 for 36 (19.4%).

Cavaliers at Wizards picks and predictions

Prediction

Cavaliers 124, Wizards 111

Moneyline

PASS.

I’m taking the Cavaliers (-450) to win and cover, as they’ve won 9 of the last 10 meetings. Instead of betting nearly 5 units to win just 1, though, focus on the spread. The Cavaliers should secure a comfortable victory.

Against the spread

BET CAVALIERS -9.5 (-110).

The Cavaliers, despite missing Strus, have hit the ground running this season and are 9.5-point favorites against the Wizards, who are without Brogdon and Bey.

Even with Poole’s standout game in their last outing, the Wizards were unable to keep up and faced a significant loss.

The Cavaliers are clearly the superior team, displaying great chemistry and performance thus far. I expect them to continue their winning streak with a solid victory, comfortably covering the spread against a struggling Wizards squad.

Over/Under

BET OVER 229.5 (-110).

Taking the Over makes sense given both teams’ playing styles. Last season, Washington struggled with 3-point shooting, but frequently launched attempts from Poole and F Kyle Kuzma. Its young lineup led the NBA in pace while finishing last in defensive rating, leading to numerous high-scoring affairs.

On the other hand, Cleveland boasts a formidable frontcourt with Allen and F Evan Mobley, who are ready to dominate inside. With the expected fast pace and offensive opportunities, this game should easily surpass the projected total.

Boston Celtics at Washington Wizards odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Thursday’s Boston Celtics at Washington Wizards odds and lines, with NBA expert picks, predictions and best bets.

[gambcom-standard rankid=”4141″ ]

The Boston Celtics (1-0) visit the Washington Wizards (0-0) Thursday. Tip-off from Capital One Arena is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET. Let’s analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s NBA odds around the Celtics vs. Wizards odds and make our expert NBA picks and predictions for the best bets.

Season series: First meeting; Celtics won 4-0 last season

Boston won 132-109 over the New York Knicks Tuesday as a 6-point home favorite. G Jayson Tatum led the way on offense with 37 points on 8-of-11 shooting from 3, 1 of 6 Boston players to score in double figures.

Washington opens up its season Thursday. The Wizards finished last season with a 15-67 record, which put them 14th in the Eastern Conference, a whopping 49 games back from the 1st-place Celtics. They were just 11-41 at home and 7-34 on the road.

Celtics at Wizards picks and predictions

Prediction

Celtics 123, Wizards 101

Moneyline

PASS.

There is no value on the Celtics to win Thursday.

Against the spread

BET CELTICS -13.5 (-110).

Boston opened its season with a statement win Tuesday, taking down the Knicks by 23 points. All 5 Boston starters finished with 11 or more points while the team shot 50.5% from the field.

Expect Washington’s struggles from last season to carry over after an offseason with minimal movement.

Over/Under

BET UNDER 233.5 (-115).

While Boston scored 132 in its opener, it shot lights out in that performance, which should not be expected each night.

On the other side of the ball, the Wizards will not be able to carry their fair share of the total. Expect a runaway game that would only put the total in question during garbage time.
