Jason Wright out as Commanders’ team president

The 2024 season will be Wright’s last with the Commanders and he will serve as an adviser until the team lands a replacement.

The Washington Commanders and team president Jason Wright are parting ways, according to Nicki Jhabvala of The Washington Post. Wright will move out of his role as team president and assume the role of senior adviser as the team begins an immediate search for a new team president. He will depart the organization by the end of the upcoming 2024 season.

Wright was hired in August 2020 as the organization had just changed its name from the “Redskins” to the “Football Team” after pressure from sponsors. He replaced Bruce Allen in the role, and he was in charge of leading the franchise’s business operations, financing, and marketing.

Washington first came under investigation for its workplace culture under former owner Dan Snyder in 2020. It wouldn’t be the first investigation into Snyder, who sold the team in July 2023 to a group led by Philadelphia 76ers owner Josh Harris.

Two of Wright’s primary goals were to help the team find a new stadium and rebrand the organization. The team still doesn’t have a location for the new stadium, which had more to do with Snyder, not Wright, but the team’s rebranding in 2022 was met with anger from most of the remaining fan base.

There would be other issues, too, from the misspelling of the team’s legends’ names on graphics to the Sean Taylor memorial outside of FedEx Field. These types of gaffes didn’t go unnoticed, and Wright took much of the blame in the eyes of fans. Many of the hires Wright made have since left the organization.

Jhabvala notes that Wright informed the team last week of his pending exit.

Wright released the following statement:

This feels like the right moment for me to explore my next leadership opportunity. I’m extremely grateful to my Commanders colleagues, our fans and this community for all that we have accomplished these past four years, and am looking forward to the start of a very successful season for the Burgundy and Gold.

Josh Harris also released a statement thanking Wright:

Jason has made a remarkable impact on the Commanders organization since he joined four years ago. He stepped in at a time of immense challenge and has led this organization through an incredible transformation that set that stage for everything that is to come. I am extremely grateful to Jason for his partnership to me and the rest of the ownership group over the past year. His guidance has been invaluable and his leadership has helped reshape our culture.

Harris and Tad Brown, the CEO of Harris Blitzer Sports & Entertainment, will lead the search for the next team president.

What’s the worst jersey Washington has ever worn?

Which jersey was named worst in franchise history? And do you agree?

It didn’t go well when the Washington Football Team rebranded to the Commanders in February 2022. No matter how much team management and some of the team’s fans said they didn’t mind the new name or new look, it wasn’t the majority.

Some fans don’t mind the name “Commanders.” Others don’t mind the new jerseys. Some hate them both, while others—well, hate everything. But one thing most Washington fans can agree on is that the uniforms since 2022 do not come close to the old uniforms—even as the “Football Team” for two seasons.

So, what is the worst jersey the team has ever worn?

Christian D’Andrea from For The Win recently looked at the worst jersey ever worn by all 32 teams. For the Commanders, he picked the black alternates the team began using in 2022.

There are few misses in Washington’s arsenal. Their rebranding as the Commanders brought the opportunity to innovate and instead the franchise opted to throw a bunch of crap at the wall and see what stuck, all in the confines of a single blackout jersey. Plus, you can barely see the team’s classic red/burgundy. That’s too much, man.

We agree with D’Andrea that there are very few misses when it comes to jerseys in Washington’s 90-plus-year history. Washington’s classic burgundy and gold color scheme is iconic. And the black alternates completely avoid using the colors. That can’t happen. The white jerseys aren’t much better, either.

What do you think are the worst jerseys in franchise history?

Predicting Eagles’ remaining schedule: How many wins in final 5 games?

We’re predicting the Philadelphia Eagles wins and losses for the final five games of the 2023 NFL season

In sports, a good beat down can be a positive for the soul, and as Philadelphia prepares to regroup from a 42-19 loss to the 49ers, we’re looking ahead to the final five games.

The Eagles are 10-2 after twelve games played entering Week 14, and they’ll play five more regular season games before entering the postseason. Even with a complete collapse, Philadelphia will still make the playoffs, but a deep postseason run is predicated on efficient football and a team hitting its peak at just the right time.

Nick Sirianni’s Eagles received a jolt of energy after signing veteran linebacker Shaq Leonard, and star tight end Dallas Goedert is expected to return to the lineup after missing three games with a fractured forearm.

The air of dominance is gone after the loss to San Francisco, but Philadelphia is still among the best teams in football and has the veteran leadership needed to survive this gauntlet.

With preparation for Dallas underway, we’re predicting the final five games.

Ranking the Eagles remaining 2023 opponents from easiest to toughest

There are no cakewalks in the NFL, but with Philadelphia (8-1) entering the bye week, we’re ranking the Eagles remaining 2023 opponents from easiest to toughest

The 2023 NFL schedule was revealed back in May, and it was at that point that fans and experts found out the Philadelphia Eagles will face a six to seven-week gauntlet of playoff teams starting in Week 9.

Over eight weeks starting with Dallas (28-23 win) and including the bye, the Eagles will face the Cowboys twice, along with the Chiefs, Bills, 49ers, Seahawks and Giants.

Philadelphia has the league’s most challenging stretch of games remaining, and we’re ranking the opponents from easiest to the toughest.

Predicting the Eagles upcoming 6 game stretch, which will be the toughest in NFL

Philadelphia has the NFL’s toughest schedule and the six week stretch that the Eagles are set to embark on is the toughest in the league

To be the best, you have to beat the best, and the Philadelphia Eagles will face a six to seven-week gauntlet of playoff teams starting with the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday.

Over seven weeks, including the bye, the Eagles will face the Cowboys twice, along with the Chiefs, Bills, 49ers, and Seahawks.

Philadelphia has the league’s most brutal schedule, and they’ll need to maintain that edge and killer instinct on a week-to-week basis, as they experience being the hunted like they’ve never seen.

Knowing what we know about every team on the schedule during this stretch, we’re updating our predictions for the next seven games.

Predicting the Eagles wins and losses for the final 11 games

We’re predicting the wins and losses for the Philadelphia #Eagles 11 remaining games on the 2023 NFL regular season schedule

The Eagles are 5-1, and if the postseason started today, Philadelphia would be the No. 2 overall seed in the NFC, and they’d host a playoff game.

Nick Sirianni’s team will have an upcoming Week 10 bye before a late-season gauntlet of games that includes showdowns with the Chiefs, Bills, 49ers, Cowboys, and Seahawks before two matchups with the Giants, sandwiched in between a game against Jonathan Gannon and the Cardinals.

Back in May after the 2023 NFL schedule release, we predicted the Eagles win and losses and sit perfect with Philadelphia at 5-1.

Now that we’ve had a six-game sample size, we’re updating our season predictions of wins and losses for Philadelphia’s final 11 games.

Broncos vs. Commanders series history: Washington aims to even series

The Broncos lead the all-time series against the Commanders 8-7 going into Week 2 of the 2023 season.

Week 2 of the 2023 season brings another foe to Denver, and this week’s contender being the Washington Commanders.

All time, the Broncos lead the series between the two teams 8-7-0. The last meeting occurred in 2021 when Washington was known as “Football Team.” This will be the first matchup since Washington changed their name for a second time to the Commanders.

This game is also a Super Bowl rematch of when Washington played the John Elway-led Broncos. After scoring the first ten points of the game, Denver failed to score again, and the Doug Williams-led Washington team scored 42 unanswered points to win Super Bowl XXII in 1988.

In 2021, the Broncos were led by quarterback Teddy Bridgewater, who ended up completing 19-of-26 passes for 213 yards and one touchdown.

Things got dicey late in the game as the Broncos led 17-10 with 37 seconds left. Denver running back Melvin Gordon tried to run out the clock, but as he so often did during his time with the Broncos, fumbled with the game on the line. Luckily, the defense stopped the Football Team dead in its tracks to seal a victory.

Will the Broncos find a way to win their first game of the Sean Payton era?

Commanders reveal home game jersey schedule

What about the throwback unis?

Thursday, the Washington Commanders revealed their jersey schedule for their home games of the upcoming 2023 season.

The Commanders will be seen at FedEx Field wearing their burgundy jerseys most often this season. In the 1960s into the George Allen era (1971-77) and Jack Pardee years (1978-80), Washington wore their burgundy jerseys for home games.

Of note is the observation that the Commanders did not announce the pants for the home games. Consequently, it is not yet known what color combinations the Commanders will wear at their home games.

Perhaps even more interesting is the fact that the Commanders will not be wearing any throwback uniform for a home game this season. Is this an indication that the NFL is not welcoming the franchise looking back remembering the days of the Washington Redskins? Or is this the franchise possibly distancing itself from the practice of wearing old Redskins throwback uniforms?

You see, since dumping the name “Redskins,” Washington wore a throwback in the 2020 season against the Cincinnati Bengals and in 2021 against the Kansas City Chiefs. However, once taking on the new “Commanders” name, the team did not wear a throwback in 2022, nor will they in 2023. What is behind this intentional change?

A Week 1 home game with a 1 p.m. ET kickoff in early September could mean temperatures in the mid to high 80s. Thus a white jersey might be a good selection, forcing the visiting team to wear their dark-color jersey in the hot afternoon heat.

Another bonus of providing the jersey schedule this early, it provides the home fans plenty of time to purchase another jersey if they would like to wear the same colored jersey the Commanders will be wearing that particular game. Thus for this season, a fan choosing to do such would need to own a burgundy, a white and a black jersey.

Regarding the burgundy jersey, it was rather obvious during the Cleveland game last week that the burgundy jersey on top of burgundy pants provides no color contrast and is, thus, a very dull uniform presentation of burgundy. Let’s hope the Commanders present color contrasts in their uniform presentation in 2023.

Burgundy Jersey Home Games

  • Preseason Week 2: vs. Baltimore Ravens
  • Week 3: vs. Buffalo Bills
  • Week 8: vs. Philadelphia Eagles
  • Week 13: vs. Miami Dolphins
  • Week 17: vs. San Francisco 49ers

White Jersey Home Games

  • Preseason Week 3: vs. Cincinnati Bengals
  • Week 1: vs. Arizona Cardinals
  • Week 18: vs. Dallas Cowboys

Black Jersey Home Games

  • Week 5: vs. Chicago Bears
  • Week 11: vs. New York Giants

We’re ranking the quarterbacks the Philadelphia Eagles will face during the 2023 NFL season from top to bottom

The 2023 NFL schedule has been released, and the Philadelphia Eagles will face seven quarterbacks that led 2022 playoff teams.

The most brutal schedule in the league, the Birds will open up in New England on a Tom Brady appreciation afternoon.

With the final week of OTAs upon us, we’re ranking the 14 quarterbacks Philadelphia face in 2023 from best to worst.

NFL Network predicts outcome of every Eagles game in 2023

NFL Network’s Adam Rank is sharing his early game predictions for the Philadelphia Eagles in 2023, and his final record prediction might surprise you.

Philadelphia is coming off a 14-win season, the best regular finish in franchise history, and a 38-35 loss to the Chiefs in the Super Bowl.

All was not lost, as the Birds retooled in the draft, landing Jalen Carter and Nolan Smith with their two first-round picks.

They then swung a draft night trade for Lions running back D’Andre Swift after signing Rashaad Penny in free agency.

Even with all the personnel and coaching staff changes, there are high expectations for Philadelphia heading into 2023.

The Eagles’ schedule is the NFL’s most challenging slate of games, and the experts are predicting a drop-off thanks to a brutal seven-week stretch starting before the bye.

We shared our way-too-early game-by-game predictions back in May, and now, NFL Network’s Adam Rank is doing the same.

Here’s a look at how Rank sees each game shaking out for the Eagles in 2023, which includes a surprising record.
