Alvin Kamara sprints 40 yards for a TD, gives the Saints the lead over Titans

New Orleans Saints RB Alvin Kamara gave his team the lead in the second half with a 40-yard touchdown sprint against the Tennessee Titans.

It’s been some time since Alvin Kamara last hit paydirt for the New Orleans Saints, but he’s making up for it quickly against the Tennessee Titans. Kamara found a seam and ran 40 yards upfield for a Saints touchdown, giving his team a 17-14 lead early in the second half.

This was exactly the sort of jolt the Saints needed coming out of halftime, following an earlier 61-yard scoring pass to tight end Jared Cook from quarterback Drew Brees. Kamara played a role in that big play as well, having thrown a key block to spring Cook loose down the sideline.

These sort of plays are exactly what the Saints need to compliment the casual excellence of wide receiver Michael Thomas, who is closing in on Marvin Harrison’s NFL record for receptions in a single season. The Titans are committing a ton of resources to slowing Thomas down — up to and including triple coverage on third down — so the Saints need other weapons like Cook and Kamara to make a difference. And they’re doing their part.

Watch: Demario Davis, Drew Brees hype up the Saints before Titans game

The New Orleans Saints took the field at Nissan Stadium against the Tennessee Titans led by QB Drew Brees and LB Demario Davis.

The clock is winding down towards kickoff between the New Orleans Saints and the Tennessee Titans, and team leaders like linebacker Demario Davis and quarterback Drew Brees are ready to fire up their teammates.

Davis and Brees continued to tag-team the Saints pregame huddle, delivering a passionate speech to get their team psyched up and ready for Sunday’s road game at Nissan Stadium. They stressed the need stay alert and energized, even if things are going well for the Saints right now. Just because they’re playing a team they feel no personal rivalry with doesn’t mean they can phone in an underwhelming performance.

“Even when you eat, stay hungry!” Davis shouted from among his huddled teammates. He’s driven home a mantra of “we prowl, we kill, we eat” all season long, setting the tone for a Saints defense that has given better than it’s gotten from opponents for much of the year. Jake Plummer posts funny video about Broncos QB Drew Lock’s ‘sweet move’

Broncos quarterback Drew Lock appeared to turn on fake hash marks with a foot stomp during Sunday’s snowy game against the Chiefs.

The Denver Broncos and Kansas City Chiefs played Sunday’s game at Arrowhead Stadium in the middle of a pretty big snowstorm (these pictures from the game are amazing).

To try to help fans view the white hash marks on the field, CBS had digital hash marks appear on the field in green. The network must have had some glitches though because the fake lines appeared on and off throughout the game.

At one point in the second quarter, the digital hash marks clicked on at the exact moment that Broncos quarterback Drew Lock put his foot on the ground. Former quarterback Jake Plummer posted a video of the moment on Twitter and joked that Lock’s stomp was a “pretty sweet move.”

Some lighthearted fun is probably welcomed by fans in Denver after watching what was otherwise a forgettable performance from the Broncos. Up next for Denver are home games against the Lions and Raiders.

Broncos fans are probably willing to trade moments of humor for a few wins to close out the season, even if it means falling in the draft order.

The story behind Drew Lock’s ‘Buzz Lightyear’ celebration

This is why Broncos quarterback Drew Lock imitated Buzz Lightyear after he scored against the Texans on Sunday.

After throwing a touchdown pass against the Houston Texans on Sunday, Denver Broncos quarterback Drew Lock celebrated by imitating ‘Toy Story’ character Buzz Lightyear. The funny celebration is Lock’s way of poking some playful fun at himself after teammates mocked his armband in practice.

Broncos rookie guard Dalton Risner likes to tease Lock and that teasing carried over into the huddle.

“That first time out there where I was in the huddle, Buzz Lightyear was used,” Lock said on Dec. 4. “[They said] ‘to Infinity and Beyond,’ with the play calls on my arm, they got all of it ready for me. It’s been fun. It keeps things light for sure in practice.”

Risner was mocking Lock’s armband that displays the team’s plays. Because he didn’t call plays in college, the young quarterback uses the armband to help him call plays in the NFL. That has led to some grief from his teammates and Lock is making the best of it, joining in on the fun.

Watch: Craig Robertson opens up the second half with tip-drill interception

New Orleans Saints LB Craig Robertson intercepted a tipped pass from San Francisco 49ers QB Jimmy Garoppolo in the second half on Sunday.

The New Orleans Saints were short-handed at linebacker during Sunday’s game against the San Francisco 49ers, with starters Kiko Alonso and A.J. Klein sidelined by injuries. The team re-signed former starter Manti Te’o earlier in the week but went with backups Craig Robertson and Stephone Anthony to start the game.

As luck would have it, Robertson ended up being in the right place at the right time to snag an interception early in the second half. 49ers quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo targeted wide receiver Emmanuel Sanders but the pass deflected off of Sanders’ hands and into Robertson’s waiting mitts, granting the Saints a lucky turnover.

It’s just a shame they weren’t able to make the most of it. Despite some protests from Saints quarterback Drew Brees, head coach Sean Payton trusted kicker Wil Lutz to make a 55-yard field goal and retake the lead. You can find Robertson’s big play in the video embedded in this post:

Unfortunately, the 49ers defense created its own turnover just a few minutes later. They forced and recovered a fumble out of Saints running back Alvin Kamara — the first fumble the Saints have committed all season — which set up a touchdown pass to tight end George Kittle. This game is still creating fireworks, and the Saints are still playing from behind in the third quarter, down 35-30 to San Francisco.
