Colorado Avalanche at Vegas Golden Knights odds, picks and best bets

Previewing Monday’s Colorado Avalanche at Vegas Golden Knights sports betting odds and lines, with NHL betting picks, tips and best bets.

The Colorado Avalanche (22-11-3) visit the Vegas Golden Knights (20-13-6) Tuesday at T-Mobile Arena for a 10 p.m. ET puck drop. We analyze the Avalanche-Golden Knights sports betting odds and lines, while providing NHL betting tips and picks around this matchup.

Avalanche at Golden Knights: Projected starting goalies

Philipp Grubauer vs. Marc-Andre Fleury

Grubauer is 10-8-2 on the year, but he enters Monday on a personal three-game losing skid. He gave up four goals in regulation in two of his last three outings. He has a .913 save percentage and 2.86 goals against average through 21 starts.

Fleury is 14-7-3 through 24 starts and one relief appearance with a .915 SV% and 2.63 GAA for the year. He had the night off Sunday in the Golden Knights’ 3-1 road win over the rival San Jose Sharks.

Prediction

Avalanche 3, Golden Knights 2

Moneyline (ML)

I’m backing the rested AVALANCHE (-110) in a pick ’em on the moneyline. They’ve lost consecutive games coming into Monday, but they had Sunday off following the 5-3 loss to the Chicago Blackhawks Saturday. They’re 12-6-1 away from home for the year and still 6-3-1 over their last 10 games.

The Golden Knights (-110) beat the Sharks 3-1 Sunday with backup goaltender Malcolm Subban in net. They’re 10-6-3 at home for the season and 6-2-2 across their last 10 games. Side with the rested Avs before both teams take a four-day holiday break.

Puck Line/Against the Spread (ATS)

While I like the Avs to win outright, the smart hedge is a smaller wager on the GOLDEN KNIGHTS (-1.5, +240) to win by 2 or more goals. A $10 bet here would return a profit of $24 with a 2-goal victory, easily covering your losses elsewhere.

The Avs are 22-14 against the spread overall and 13-6 on the road, but they’re not worth a puck line bet while fetching just -303 odds to cover the +1.5 goals and either stay within 1 in a loss or win outright. Back the Avs on the moneyline and/or the Knights on the puck line.

Over/Under (O/U)

Take the UNDER 5.5 (+115). The Golden Knights are able to turn to their superior goaltender for the second half of the back-to-back, while the forwards and defensemen will be tired. Expect some positive regression for Grubauer as he bucks his downward trend.

Vegas Golden Knights at San Jose Sharks odds, picks and best bets

Previewing Sunday’s Vegas Golden Knights at San Jose Sharks sports betting odds and lines, with NHL betting picks, tips and best bets.

The Vegas Golden Knights (19-13-6) visit the San Jose Sharks (16-19-2) Sunday at SAP Center at San Jose for a 10 p.m. ET puck drop. We analyze the Golden Knights-Sharks sports betting odds and lines, while providing NHL betting tips and picks around this matchup.

Golden Knights at Sharks: Projected starting goalies

Marc-Andre Fleury vs. Martin Jones

Fleury is 14-7-3 with a .915 save percentage and 2.63 goals against average. His last time out, he gave up five goals on 34 shots in an overtime loss against the Vancouver Canucks on Thursday.

Jones remains a volatile starting option for the Sharks. He leads the league in both losses (14) and goals allowed (87). He is 12-14-1 with a .888 SV% and 3.29 GAA.

Odds courtesy of BetMGM; access them at USA TODAY Sports for a full set of today’s betting odds. Odds last updated Sunday at 1 p.m. ET.

Prediction

Golden Knights 6, Sharks 3

Moneyline (ML)

The Sharks (+125) come into Sunday off of back-to-back losses to the Arizona Coyotes on Tuesday (3-2) and St. Louis Blues on Saturday (5-2). They’ve dropped eight of their last nine games and are 2-7-1 across their last 10 games. They remain a strong fade despite an adequate 10-10-0 home record.

The GOLDEN KNIGHTS (-150) will be the play. They’ve been off since that loss to the Canucks on Thursday. They’re 6-2-2 across their last 10 games and 9-7-3 on the road for the season. Vegas has a plus-6 goal differential on the season while San Jose is at minus-30.

New to sports betting? A $10 bet on the Golden Knights to win outright returns a profit of $6.67.

Puck Line/Against the Spread (ATS)

VEGAS (-1.5, +180) has significant advantages in Corsi (total shot attempts), scoring chances and PDO (save percentage plus shooting percentage) at 5-on-5. Back the visitors to win by at least 2 goals for a greater return on your investment. The same $10 bet will return a profit of $18.

The Golden Knights are 15-23 against the spread overall and 8-11 on the road while the Sharks are just 16-21 ATS overall and 9-11 at home. Eleven of the Golden Knights’ 19 wins on the season have been decided by margins of at least 2 goals.

Over/Under (O/U)

Take the OVER 5.5 (-150) and feel free to wager heavily. The Knights are 4-6 against the Over/Under across their last 10 games and the Sharks went 5-5 against the projected totals, but it’s a battle of two shaky goaltenders. Both sides will be able to put up a comfortable goal total and send this one Over the number in the second period.

Vegas Golden Knights at Vancouver Canucks odds, picks and best bets

Previewing Thursday’s Vegas Golden Knights at Vancouver Canucks sports betting odds and lines, with NHL betting picks, tips and best bets.

The Vegas Golden Knights (19-13-5) and Vancouver Canucks (16-15-4) tangle at Rogers Arena in Vancouver, British Columbia at 10 p.m. ET Thursday. We analyze the Golden Knights-Canucks sports betting odds and lines, with NHL matchup analysis, picks and tips.

Golden Knights at Canucks: Projected starting goalies

Marc-Andre Fleury vs. Jacob Markstrom

Fleury has picked up three victories in his past four outings since returning from a multi-week absence due to a personal family issue. One of those victories came against the Canucks at T-Mobile Arena Dec. 15, allowing three goals on 29 shots. He is 14-7-2 with a 2.53 goals against average and .918 save percentage overall.

Markstrom is looking to slam the brakes on a three-game skid, as he has slipped to 9-11-3 with a 2.70 GAA, .915 SV% and one shutout. He was on the short end of that Dec. 15 game in Vegas, pulled midway through the third period after giving up five goals on 39 shots.

Prediction

Golden Knights 5, Canucks 3

Moneyline (ML)

The GOLDEN KNIGHTS (-143) look to win in this series yet again. Since the Knights came into the league they’re 8-1 against Vancouver, including 4-0 all-time in B.C. while outscoring the Canucks by a 20-11 margin.

New to sports betting? Every $10 wagered for the Golden Knights to win in regulation, overtime or a shootout would profit $7 if they do so.

Puck Line/Against the Spread (ATS)

The GOLDEN KNIGHTS (-1.5, +180) are a great play on the puck line as they have dominated in this series. Until the Canucks start ticking off wins against the Knights on a regular basis, continue fading Vancouver.

Over/Under (O/U)

The OVER 5.5 (-139) is 4-0 in four all-time meetings in Vancouver between these two sides, and 6-3 in nine meetings overall between these teams. Vegas has averaged 4.6 goals per game in nine battles against the Canucks, with Vancouver averaging 2.3 goals per game in the all-time series.

Vancouver Canucks at Vegas Golden Knights odds, picks and best bets

Previewing Sunday’s Vancouver Canucks at Vegas Golden Knights sports betting odds and lines, with NHL betting picks, tips and best bets.

The Vegas Golden Knights (17-13-5) host the Vancouver Canucks (16-13-4) Sunday at T-Mobile Arena for an 8 p.m. ET puck drop. We analyze the Canucks-Golden Knights sports betting odds and lines, while providing NHL betting tips and picks around this matchup.

Canucks at Golden Knights: Projected starting goalies

Jacob Markstrom vs. Marc-Andre Fleury

Markstrom is 9-9-3 through 21 starts with a .918 save percentage and 2.55 goals against average. The latter rates would be career bests if they hold up over the season. He took the loss Saturday against the San Jose Sharks but gave up just two goals on 25 shots faced.

Fleury gave up four goals in two of his last three starts coming into Sunday. He is 12-7-2 on the year with a .919 SV% and 2.54 GAA.

Prediction

Golden Knights 4, Canucks 1

Moneyline (ML)

The GOLDEN KNIGHTS (-200) topped the Dallas Stars 3-2 in overtime Friday for just their second win in their last five games. They’re 8-6-3 at home and 6-3-1 over their last 10 games overall. The Canucks (+165) are 8-9-1 as visitors this season and 5-5-0 across their last 10 games. They took a 4-2 loss against the Sharks on Saturday.

The Golden Knights, fourth in the Pacific Division, are the better team overall and have both the rest and home advantages. Back Vegas at higher odds than it should have.

New to sports betting? A $10 bet on the Golden Knights to win in regulation, overtime or a shootout returns a profit of $5.

Puck Line/Against the Spread (ATS)

Back a rested GOLDEN KNIGHTS (-1.5, +140) to win by at least 2 goals. Vegas is just 14-21 against the spread overall and 6-11 at home while Vancouver is 18-15 ATS overall and 12-6 on the road, but each of the Canucks’ last two losses were by at least two goals.

Over/Under (O/U)

Take the UNDER 5.5 (+105) with both teams hitting the Over in just four of their last 10 games. The Canucks won’t be able to provide enough scoring on the second half of the back-to-back against a rested Fleury.

Vegas Golden Knights at Dallas Stars odds, picks and best bets

Previewing Friday’s Vegas Golden Knights at Dallas Stars sports betting odds and lines, with NHL betting picks, tips and best bets.

The Dallas Stars (18-11-3) host the Vegas Golden Knights (16-13-5) Friday at American Airlines Center. Puck drop is scheduled for 8 p.m. ET. We analyze the Golden Knights-Stars sports betting odds and lines, while providing NHL betting tips and picks around this matchup.

Golden Knights at Stars: Projected starting goalies

Malcolm Subban vs. Ben Bishop

Subban picked up his first win of the season Nov. 27 and rung up four in a row before taking overtime and regulation losses in each of his last two outings. He is coming off a home start against the New York Rangers Sunday in which he allowed five goals on just 25 shots.

Bishop has won three straight games with a total of three goals allowed on 99 shots faced. His .934 save percentage matches his league-best number from last season and he has a 2.03 goals against average.

Golden Knights at Stars: Odds, picks and betting tips

Odds courtesy of BetMGM; access them at USA TODAY Sports for a full set of today’s betting odds. Odds last updated at 9:10 a.m. ET.

Prediction

Golden Knights 3, Stars 2

Moneyline (ML)

The Stars (-139) have won three straight and are 12-4-1 at home for the year. The recent, and surprise, firing of head coach Jim Montgomery is sure to take a toll against a quality opponent after they were able to beat the lowly New Jersey Devils 2-0 Tuesday in their first game without him behind the bench. The GOLDEN KNIGHTS (+115) are getting plus-money on the road where they’re 8-7-2 straight up.

The Knights took a 4-2 loss on the road against the St. Louis Blues Thursday and play for the third time in four nights, while the Stars have had three days off. Vegas started strong Thursday with a two-goal first period, and a similar start against a shakier opponent would present a safer lead.

New to sports betting? A $10 bet on the Golden Knights to win outright returns a profit of $11.50.

Puck Line/Against the Spread (ATS)

The safe play is backing the GOLDEN KNIGHTS (+1.5, -250) to stay within 1 goal in a loss, or to win outright. Vegas has the edge in total shot attempts (Corsi) at 5-on-5, but has suffered from a woeful 6.92 team shooting percentage at full strength which ranks 28th in the NHL. The Knights are too talented up front to stay so unlucky.

Over/Under (O/U)

Take the UNDER 5.5 (-129). Subban was enjoying his best stretch of the season before his most recent start, and Bishop is locked in for the Stars. Look for the Stars to play a simpler style in the early going under interim coach Rick Bowness.

Esten’s NHL betting record: 118-97

Vegas Golden Knights at St. Louis Blues odds, picks and best bets

Previewing Thursday’s Vegas Golden Knights at St. Louis Blues sports betting odds and lines, with NHL matchup analysis, picks and tips.

The Vegas Golden Knights (16-12-5) and St. Louis Blues (18-8-6) battle at Enterprise Center at 8 p.m. ET Thursday. We analyze the Golden Knights-Blues sports betting odds and lines, with NHL matchup analysis, picks and tips.

Golden Knights at Blues: Projected starting goalies

Marc-Andre Fleury vs. Jordan Binnington

Fleury was outstanding Tuesday against the Chicago Blackhawks in his first action since Nov. 23 due to a personal absence. He nearly posted a shutout, allowing a power-play goal with an extra attacker in the final minute. He picked up the win, however, improving to 3-1-1 over the past five starts with the “Under” hitting in each outing.

Binnington was pulled for the first time in his NHL career in a loss against Toronto Saturday. He has dropped back-to-back starts, but is still 13-6-4 with a 2.45 GAA and .921 save percentage overall.

Prediction

Golden Knights 3, Blues 2

Moneyline (ML)

The GOLDEN KNIGHTS (-106) are a good play on the road against the Blues (-115), who has been stumbling of late. You’ll be going against the trends in this series, as Vegas is 1-4 in the past five head-to-head matchups, with the home team 5-1 in the past six, but the Golden Knights are playing better hockey lately.

New to sports betting? Every $1.06 wagered for the Golden Knights to win in regulation, overtime or a shootout would profit $1 if they do so.

Puck Line/Against the Spread (ATS)

PASS. I don’t like the puck line in this series. Fleury and Binnington are good goaltenders and when they’re on their game, this has the potential to be a low-scoring game, possibly decided in overtime or a shootout. If you’re wondering, Vegas is +1.5 (-295) and St. Louis is -1.5 (+230).

Over/Under (O/U)

The UNDER 5.5 (-106) is 5-1 in the past six for the Golden Knights, while going 5-2 in the past seven inside the Western Conference. The Blues have hit the Under in seven of their past eight against the West, while going 4-0 in the past four vs. Pacific Division foes.

New York Rangers at Vegas Golden Knights odds, picks and best bets

Previewing Sunday’s New York Rangers at Vegas Golden Knights sports betting odds and lines, with NHL matchup analysis, picks and tips

The Vegas Golden Knights (15-11-5) host the New York Rangers (14-11-3) at T-Mobile Arena Sunday at 7 p.m. ET. We analyze the Rangers-Golden Knights odds and lines while providing NHL betting tips around this matchup.

Rangers at Golden Knights: Projected starting goalies

Henrik Lundqvist vs. Marc-Andre Fleury

Lundqvist has a 7-6-2 record for New Jersey with a 3.21 goals against average and a .910 save percentage. Lundqvist’s last appearance was Monday when he stopped 28 of 32 shots in a loss at home to these very same Golden Knights.

Fleury has a 11-6-2 record, sporting a 2.54 GAA and a .919 SV%. The expected Vegas starter has not played since Nov. 23 when he yielded four goals in a home loss to the Edmonton Oilers.

Rangers at Golden Knights: Odds, picks and betting tips

Odds courtesy of BetMGM; access them at USA TODAY Sports for a full set of today’s betting odds. Odds last updated at 12: 50 p.m. ET.

Prediction

Golden Knights 4, Rangers 2

Moneyline (ML)

The GOLDEN KNIGHTS (-223), 7-5-3 at home, are the rested team going up against a Rangers squad on the first game of a four-game road trip. New York is a respectable 6-5-1 on the road. However, Vegas has won four straight matchups against the Rangers. Finally, New York allows 3.42 goals per game on the road this year. Back Vegas and roll the bones!

A $10 bet with Vegas results in a $4.48 profit with an outright win for the Golden Knights. Or every $2.23 wagered on a Knights win would profit $1 if they prevail.

Puck Line/Against the Spread (ATS)

The Rangers are 19-9 ATS, which is tops in the NHL. The Golden Knights are just 12-19 ATS (30th in the league). That gives us some pause here, so it’s best to AVOID.

Over/Under (O/U)

The UNDER 6.5 (-150) is a bit of risk even knowing that Vegas gives up three goals a game at home. There are some concerns about rust with both goaltenders. Lundqvist is just getting over the flu, while Fleury dealt with the loss of his father recently. The other slight concern is that New York allows 35.9 shots per game and is just 76.9% (23rd) on the penalty kill. On the other hand, both teams combine for 6.04 goals per game. Lean slightly to the UNDER.

Placing a $10 bet here will give a bettor a $6.67 profit with a total of six or fewer goals scored.

Vegas Golden Knights at New York Islanders odds, picks and best bets

Previewing Thursday’s Vegas Golden Knights at New York Islanders sports betting odds and lines, with NHL betting picks, tips and best bets.

The Vegas Golden Knights (15-11-4) visit the New York Islanders (18-6-2) Thursday at Nassau Coliseum. Puck drop is scheduled for shortly after 7 p.m. ET. We analyze the Golden Knights-Islanders sports betting odds and lines, while providing NHL betting tips and picks around this matchup.

Golden Knights at Islanders: Projected starting goalies

Marc-Andre Fleury vs. Semyon Varlamov

Fleury is 11-6-2 with a .919 save percentage and 2.54 goals against average through 19 starts and one relief appearance. He gave up four goals on 31 shots in a loss to the Edmonton Oilers his last time out, but he’s expected to start Thursday on 12 days rest.

Varlamov is 8-3-2 with a .922 SV% and 2.38 GAA through 13 starts and two relief appearances. He has been better on the road than at home, where his save percentage drops to .910 and GAA rises to 2.85.

Prediction

Islanders 3, Golden Knights 1

Moneyline (ML)

The ISLANDERS (-120) come into Thursday with a 11-2-1 home record. They’re coming off a 4-2 road loss against the Montreal Canadiens Tuesday and have lost four of their last six games following a five-game winning streak. The Golden Knights (+100) are an even-money bet while seeking a fifth straight win. They’re 8-6-1 on the road and 6-3-1 across their last 10 games.

Vegas went to extra time in two of its last four games and won by just a single tally in regulation over the New Jersey Devils Tuesday. The Islanders have won their last eight home games, including a 2-0 shutout of the Blue Jackets Saturday. Back the home team.

Puck Line/Against the Spread (ATS)

The ISLANDERS (-1.5, +225) are 13-13 against the spread overall and 7-7 at home. The Golden Knights are 11-19 overall and 6-9 on the road. Each of Vegas’ last two losses were by two goals while the Islanders’ last two wins were each by two or more tallies. Double down on the home side with a much greater profit margin.

A $10 bet on the Islanders to win by at least two goals returns a profit of $22.50. The same wager for the outright win fetches a profit of $8.30.

Over/Under (O/U)

Take the UNDER 5.5 (-115). The Islanders fell short of that total in five of their last six games, while the Knights played to totals of fewer than five goals in two of their last three games. Vegas is 4-6 against the Over/Under across its last 10 games. New York is 5-5 against the O/U in the same span.

Golden Knights at Predators: Projected starting goalies

Rinne hasn’t played since Thursday after he allowed at least four goals in each of his last four starts. The veteran is 8-4-2 through 14 starts with a .889 SV% and 3.06 GAA.

Prediction

Predators 4, Golden Knight 1

Moneyline (ML)

The Predators and Golden Knights enter Wednesday fifth in the Central and Pacific divisions, respectively. Both teams have been off since Monday, when the Golden Knights dropped a third in a row and the Predators completed a home-and-home sweep of the St. Louis Blues. Each of Knights’ last two losses was by a 4-2 count with one at home against the Edmonton Oilers and the other on the road against the Dallas Stars.

Nashville is 7-5-2 on home ice while Vegas is 5-6-1 as the visitor. Back the PREDATORS (-139) with what should be an advantage in the goaltending matchup. The Preds are outshooting their opposition by an average of 5.9 shots per game, but with an average goal differential of just 0.17. The Knights are plus-2.1 per game in shots on goal but minus-0.08 in goals.

New to sports betting? A $10 bet on the Predators to win in regulation, overtime or a shootout returns a profit of $7.20.

Puck Line/Against the Spread (ATS)

The Golden Knights have lost eight of their last 10 with half of those losses coming by at least a two-goal margin. Vegas is 9-17 against the puck line overall and 4-8 on the road. Nashville is 9-14 overall and 5-9 at home.

Take a chance on the PREDATORS (-1.5, +190) with the potential for a $19 profit on a $10 bet for them to win by two or more goals. Nine of their 11 victories on the season were by margins of at least two goals.

Over/Under (O/U)

The Golden Knights are 4-6 against the Over/Under across their last 10 games while the Predators went 6-4 against the projected goal totals. The matchup of the two struggling netminders puts the odds lean on the Over, but we’ll make a contrarian play to the UNDER 5.5 (+125) with the possibility of a greater reward.

Golden Knights at Stars: Projected starting goalies

Marc-Andre Fleury vs. Ben Bishop

Fleury shares the league lead with 11 wins and 20 games played. He’s 11-6-2 on the year with a .919 save percentage and 2.54 goals against average. He gave up four goals on 31 shots faced and took the loss in his last start against the Edmonton Oilers.

Bishop has picked up five consecutive wins to improve to 8-5-1 through 16 starts. He has a .926 SV% and 2.25 GAA as a major reason for the Stars’ turnaround.

Prediction

Stars 3, Golden Knights 1

The STARS (-133) have won six straight games and have surged into second place in the Central Division. They most recently beat the Chicago Blackhawks 2-1 in a shootout Saturday and wrap up a four-game homestand with an 8-3-1 record at American Airlines Center. The Golden Knights (+110) have lost two in a row and are 5-5-1 on the road for the season.

Dallas has improved its goal differential to plus-11 for the year while Vegas is plus-two. The Golden Knights outshoot their opponents by an average of 2.2 shots per game. The Stars have outshot their opponents by 0.4 shots per game. Side with the home team, as the Stars are backed by the red-hot Bishop as they try for a seventh straight victory.

Puck Line/Against the Spread (ATS)

Vegas enters Monday just 9-16 against the spread overall and 4-7 on the road. The STARS (-1.5, +200) are 15-9 ATS overall but just 6-6 at home. Six of Dallas’ last eight victories were each by margins of at least two goals. The Golden Knights lost by at least two goals in three of their six most recent defeats.

Roll the dice for a Stars victory by two or more goals as they lean on their goaltender.

Over/Under (O/U)

Take the UNDER 5.5 (-115). While both offenses are stacked, the goaltending has been the real story for Dallas of late and Fleury is often able to play up to his competition. Vegas is just 3-7 against the Over/Under across its last 10 games while Dallas went 4-6 against the projected totals over the same span.
