Vegas Golden Knights at Dallas Stars Game 4 odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Thursday’s Vegas Golden Knights at Dallas Stars Game 4 odds and lines, with NHL expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Vegas Golden Knights meet the Dallas Stars in Game 4 of their Western Conference Final playoff series Thursday. Puck drop at American Airlines Arena is scheduled for 8 p.m. ET (ESPN). Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Golden Knights vs. Stars odds, and make our expert NHL picks and predictions.

Vegas is on the brink of its 2nd Stanley Cup Final appearance in its 6-year existence. The Golden Knights took a 3-0 series lead with an impressive 4-0 victory in Dallas Tuesday. They jumped out to a 3-0 lead just over 7 minutes into the game and never looked back. G Adin Hill was phenomenal with a 34-save shutout.

Stars LW Jamie Benn received a 5-minute major for cross checking Golden Knights RW Mark Stone 1:53 into the game with Dallas already down 1-0. Vegas responded by scoring twice in the next 5½.

The Stars outshot the Golden Knights 34-16 but could not crack Hill. The Stars will have to play a tight game and keep their composure Thursday if they hope to extend the series.

Golden Knights at Stars projected goalies

Adin Hill (16-7-1, 2.50 GAA, .915 SV%, 0 SO – regular season) vs. Jake Oettinger (37-11-11, 2.37 GAA, .919 SV%, 5 SO – regular season)

Hill stopped all 34 shots in Game 3, and he has a ridiculous .949 SV% in the series. He is 6-1 with a 1.96 GAA and .940 SV% in these playoffs. He’s playing a little above himself right now, though, so some regression should be expected.

Oettinger was pulled 7:10 into Game 3 after Vegas’ 3rd goal — he finished with just 2 saves on 5 shots. He has now lost 3 games in a row and 4 of 5.  The Stars go as he goes, and he has been going down the tubes. Oettinger is 8-8 with a 3.02 GAA and .895 SV% in the playoffs.

Golden Knights at Stars picks and predictions

Prediction

Stars 3, Golden Knights 2

Moneyline

I don’t see the Golden Knights sweeping this series. The first 2 games — in Vegas — went to overtime, and Game 3 really just got out of hand after Benn’s major penalty 2 minutes in.

Oettinger makes a stand Thursday and gets the Stars one here. TAKE DALLAS (-115).

Puck line/Against the spread

No interest in either puck line here, but this will be a redemption game for Oettinger. Vegas will bring some pressure now that they know the Florida Panthers — who completed a sweep of the Carolina Hurricanes in the Eastern Conference Final Wednesday — are waiting on the winner of this series in the Stanley Cup Final.

PASS on the puck line, but BET JAKE OETTINGER OVER 25.5 SAVES (-125).

Over/Under

Not only has the Under cashed in the last 2 games. the Under is 7-2-1 in the last 10 between these teams, and 7-0 in the last 7 head-to-heads in Dallas. According to Covers.com, the Under is also 8-1-1 in VGK’s last 10 Conference Final games and 8-1-2 in the Stars’ last 11 Conference Final games.

It boils down to this: Game 4 needs to be an Under for Dallas to have a chance.

LEAN UNDER 5.5 (-110).

Vegas Golden Knights at Dallas Stars Game 3 odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Tuesday’s Vegas Golden Knights at Dallas Stars Game 3 odds and lines, with NHL expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Vegas Golden Knights meet the Dallas Stars in Game 3 of their Western Conference Final playoff series Tuesday. Puck drop at American Airlines Arena is scheduled for 8 p.m. ET (ESPN). Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Golden Knights vs. Stars odds, and make our expert NHL picks and predictions.

VGK found a way to solve the Stars in Game 2 to take a 2-0 lead in the series. Trailing 2-1, RW Jonathan Marchessault crashed the net and received a nice feed from C Ivan Barbashev to tie the game with under 3 minutes to go. C Chandler Stephenson was able to hit the game-winner 1:12 into overtime.

The Stars were stunned as they had the lead most of the game and held the Golden Knights to just 10 shots the 1st 2 periods. It was the 1st time these playoffs they lost consecutive games as G Jake Oettinger fell to 22-2-3 after a loss this year.

Hill was good again in Game 2 and has stopped 59 of 64 shots fired his way this series for a .922 SV%. He’s a bend-but-don’t-break goalie with at least 2 goals allowed in each of his 5 starts. He is 4-1 with a 2.28 GAA and .930 SV% in 5 starts and 7 games overall in the playoffs.

Golden Knights at Stars picks and predictions

Prediction

Stars 4, Golden Knights 2

Moneyline

After dropping the 1st 2 games in OT, I look for Dallas to empty the tank in front of the home crowd. These teams have been in a lot of close games recently as 3 of the last 4 regular-season games went to a shootout, and Games 1 and 2 needed OT.

Take the STARS -145.

Puck line/Against the spread

The Stars are 5-1 in their last 6 home games. Neither team has landed a puck-line victory yet this series, and we’re forecasting Dallas to cash. However, I can’t get over the fact that so many games have needed overtime between the sides.

PASS or LEAN STARS -1.5 (+180).

Over/Under

Game 1 went Over, and Game 2 went Under. The Under is 7-1-1 in VGK’s last 9 conference finals games. The Under is 7-1-2 in the Stars’ last 10 conference finals games. With a Stars win forecasted and Oettinger’s lackluster stats thus far, we’re going to buck some trends here and LEAN OVER 5.5 (-110).

We’re getting in a little late, though, as the Over was +105 earlier Tuesday morning.

Dallas Stars at Vegas Golden Knights Game 2 odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Sunday’s Dallas Stars at Vegas Golden Knights Game 2 odds and lines, with NHL expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Dallas Stars meet the Vegas Golden Knights in Game 2 of their Western Conference Final playoff series Sunday. Puck drop at T-Mobile Arena is scheduled for 3 p.m. ET (ABC). Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Stars vs. Golden Knights odds, and make our expert NHL picks and predictions.

Dallas nearly took Game 1, but ultimately fell 4-3 in overtime. LW Jason Robertson put one in the net with under 2 minutes to go in the 1st, but the sides were tied at 1 entering the 3rd. Each team traded goals in the 3rd as LW Jamie Benn tied the game with under 2 minutes to go. The Stars couldn’t finish it off and have now dropped all 3 Game 1’s these playoffs in overtime.

VGK held serve after C Brett Howden, who had just 13 points in the regular season, grabbed the puck from behind the net and jammed it in the right side for the game-winner. C William Karlsson had 2 goals in the game to give him 7 in the playoffs. Vegas has yet to go up 2-0 at home in these playoffs.

Jake Oettinger (37-11-11, 2.37 GAA, .919 SV%, 5 SO – regular season) vs. Adin Hill (16-7-1, 2.50 GAA, .915 SV%, 0 SO – regular season)

Oettinger stopped 33 of 37 shots fired his way in Game 1. We have talked about it all postseason. He is 22-1-3 this season following a loss and has not lost consecutive games in these playoffs.. He went 3-0-0 with a 0.96 GAA and .967 SV% against Vegas in the regular season.

Hill was solid in Game 1 with 33 saves on 36 shots. He’s a bend-but-don’t-break goalie with at least 2 goals allowed in each of his 4 starts. He is 4-1 with a 2.34 GAA and .930 SV% in 4 starts and 6 games overall in the playoffs.

Stars at Golden Knights picks and predictions

Prediction

Stars 3, Golden Knights 2

Moneyline

Dallas won all 3 games in the regular season and has won 7 of 11 against Vegas. They’ve been close games, though, as 3 of the last 4 regular-season games went to a shootout, and Game 1 needed OT.

We enter Game 2 with identical odds on the moneyline, but this time I’m siding with the STARS (+105). Oettinger’s record after a loss is crazy, but there is a big enough sample size to back it. Dallas is 4-1 in the last 5 meetings, and the underdog has prevailed in 6 of 8.

Puck line/Against the spread

VGK couldn’t secure the puck-line victory in Game 1, and Dallas is priced out at -250. We’re going to PASS here as Dallas’ ML is at plus-money, and Vegas’ ML is at a solid -125 if you’re feeling them in Game 2.

Over/Under

The Over broke some trends and cashed in Game 1. The previous 4 games between the teams had 5 goals or fewer. The Under is 9-2-1 in the last 12 meetings and 4-1-1 in the last 6 in Vegas.

It’s just a LEAN, but Oettinger holds the cards in this game going UNDER 5.5 (-110).

Dallas Stars at Vegas Golden Knights Game 1 odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Friday’s Dallas Stars at Vegas Golden Knights Game 1 odds and lines, with NHL expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Dallas Stars meet the Vegas Golden Knights in Game 1 of their Western Conference Final playoff series Friday. Puck drop at T-Mobile Arena is scheduled for 8:30 p.m. ET (ESPN). Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Stars vs. Golden Knights odds, and make our expert NHL picks and predictions.

The Stars eliminated the Seattle Kraken in 7 games to advance in the Western Conference and face Vegas in a rematch of the 2020 Western Conference Final. Dallas coach Pete DeBoer was behind the bench for Vegas in that series. C Roope Hintz leads the team with 9 goals and 19 points this postseason while C Joe Pavelski has 8 goals in as many games.

The Golden Knights conquered the Edmonton Oilers in 6 games to advance. They’re led by C Jack Eichel (6 goals, 8 assists), who is coming of age in his first playoffs. Vegas is a deep team with 4 lines that can beat you.

Oettinger has been hit-or-miss this postseason, but he’s by far the best goaltender left in these playoffs. His slides don’t last long as he’s 22-1-3 this season following a loss. He went 3-0-0 with a 0.96 GAA and .967 SV% against Vegas this season.

Hill came on in Game 3 against Edmonton after Laurent Brossoit went down to injury and stabilized the troops. He was 3-1 with a 2.19 GAA and .934 SV% in the series. He did not face Dallas in the regular season.

Stars at Golden Knights picks and predictions

Prediction

Golden Knights 4, Stars 1

Moneyline

Dallas won all 3 games this season and has won 7 of 10 against Vegas. They’ve been close games, though, as 3 of the last 4 went to the shootout. However, Vegas has only lost 3 games this postseason and Dallas dropped Game 1 in their building in both series thus far. I think Dallas gets one in Vegas, but I’ll side with the GOLDEN KNIGHTS (-125) in Game 1.

Puck line/Against the spread

Six of Vegas’ 8 wins this postseason have been by multiple goals. Three of Dallas’ 5 losses in these playoffs have been by at least 3 goals. So you’re really rolling the dice each night to see what Dallas team shows up. I think Vegas starts fast and doesn’t look back.

Take GOLDEN KNIGHTS -1.5 (+200) to win 2 times your initial wager.

Over/Under

The last 4 games between the teams had 5 goals or fewer. The Under is 7-1-3 in the Stars’ last 11 Conference Final games. The Under is 6-0-1 in Vegas’ last 7 Conference Final games. The Under is 12-3-2 in the last 17 meetings and 4-1-1 in the last 6 in Vegas.

LEAN UNDER 5.5 (-115).

Vegas Golden Knights at Edmonton Oilers Game 6 odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Sunday’s Vegas Golden Knights at Edmonton Oilers Game 6 odds and lines, with NHL expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Vegas Golden Knights battle the Edmonton Oilers in Game 6 of their Western Conference semifinals playoff series Wednesday. Puck drop at Rogers Place is scheduled for 10 p.m. ET (ESPN). Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Golden Knights vs. Oilers odds, and make our expert NHL picks and predictions.

Series: Golden Knights lead 3-2

The Golden Knights survived 4-3 in Game 5 to put the Oilers on the brink of elimination. Vegas scored 3 times in the 2nd period to go up 4-2 and held on in the 3rd.

The Oilers went 3-for-4 on the power play, but some shaky play in net did them in. C Connor McDavid scored 2 goals to lead the charge, but C Leon Draisaitl has not found the back of the net in 3 straight games now. He has just 1 assist and 8 shots on goal during the stretch.

Golden Knights at Oilers projected goalies

Adin Hill (16-7-1, 2.50 GAA, .915 SV%, 0 SO – regular season) vs. Stuart Skinner (29-14-5, 2.75 GAA, .914 SV%, 1 SO – regular season)

Hill was great in Game 5, stopping 32 of 35 shots, and the only goals he allowed were on the power play. It’s likely his net regardless of whether Laurent Brossoit is healthy enough to return. Hill has a 2.25 GAA and .927 SV% in the playoffs.

Skinner was pulled near the end of the 2nd period in Game 5, allowing 4 goals on 22 shots. Jack Campbell came on and stopped all 9 shots he faced. It’s the 3rd time Skinner has been pulled this postseason, and there’s a chance Campbell starts. They’ve stuck with Skinner thus far, though, and he has a 3.52 GAA and .890 SV% in the playoffs.

Golden Knights at Oilers picks and predictions

Prediction

Oilers 4, Golden Knights 3

Moneyline

We’re 11-4 on wagers in this series, despite some unexpected outcomes. It’s a tough task to predict which Oilers team you’re going to get, but it would be a stunner if this series doesn’t go 7 games. We have had 18 goals scored in the 1st period in the series, and each game has seen at least 3. So we’re going to forego the -185 ML and continue to ride the trend OVER 2 FIRST PERIOD GOALS (-110).

Puck line/Against the spread

There is good reason to back VGK on the puck line here. The road team is 5-2 in the last 7 meetings. The underdog is also 10-4 in the last 14. Edmonton is 12-3 in the last 15 home games, though, and they are fighting to stay alive. I’ll back Vegas to keep it tight.

Take the GOLDEN KNIGHTS +1.5 (-160).

Over/Under

The total has been priced out of range for a couple of games now, and we’ve had to get creative. We’ve had 6+ goals in all but 1 game in the series, and that was a weird one when the Oilers scored 4 in the 1st and the lights cut off the rest of the game. The total has come back down to 6.5 at a doable price, but let’s get creative again.

Head to the Win/Total section and under Moneyline and Totals (including overtime and shootouts), take OILERS to WIN AND OVER 5.5 GOALS (+120).

Edmonton Oilers at Vegas Golden Knights Game 5 odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Friday’s Edmonton Oilers at Vegas Golden Knights Game 5 odds and lines, with NHL expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Edmonton Oilers meet the Vegas Golden Knights in Game 5 of their Western Conference semifinals playoff series Friday. Puck drop at T-Mobile Arena is scheduled for 10 p.m. ET (TNT). Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Oilers vs. Golden Knights odds, and make our expert NHL picks and predictions.

Season series: Tied 2-2

The Oilers started fast and cruised to a 4-1 victory in Game 4. Edmonton scored 3 times in the 1st period as a rare Under hit in the series. C Connor McDavid and C Leon Draisaitl combined for just 3 assists and 5 shots on goal.

Vegas had just 6 shots on goal (SOG) in the 1st and were outshot 33-26 in a sloppy game. One saving grace is they held the high-powered Oilers to just 1-for-7 on the power play. Things got messy late when D Alex Pietrangelo slashed Draisaitl with under 90 seconds to go. Pietrangelo is suspended for this game, and Oilers D Darnell Nurse will miss it as well.

Oilers at Golden Knights projected goalies

Stuart Skinner (29-14-5, 2.75 GAA, .914 SV%, 1 SO – regular season) vs. Adin Hill (16-7-1, 2.50 GAA, .915 SV%, 0 SO – regular season)

It has become a theme the last 6 games. Skinner will be great one game and not so good the next. Well, he was great in Game 4, stopping 25 of 26 shots fired his way. But he usually allows 4 or more immediately after. He has a 3.31 GAA and .895 SV% in the playoffs.

Hill had a rough 1st period in his 1st start for the injured Laurent Brossoit. He allowed 3 goals on 11 shots, but only allowed 1 more on the next 22 shots. Brossoit is considered day-to-day, and either goalie could be between the pipes with veteran Jonathan Quick backing up as well.

Oilers at Golden Knights picks and predictions

Prediction

Oilers 5, Golden Knights 3

Moneyline

Losing Petro hurts Vegas more than Nurse’s absence hurts Edmonton. The whole key to this series is scoring more than the Oilers, and Vegas is thin at the blue line now. McDavid was not happy about the slash on Draisaitl and went after Pietrangelo.

I’m going to PASS on the ML, look to the spread and take MCDAVID ANYTIME GOAL -120.

Puck line/Against the spread

Every game in this series has ended with at least a 2-goal difference. Road teams have been ridiculously good these playoffs, and I look for Edmonton to apply pressure throughout this one.

Take the OILERS -1.5 (+170).

Over/Under

There were at least 7 goals in 5 straight games between the teams until Game 4. Now the total has moved from 6.5 up to 7. So let’s look another direction.

We have had 15 goals scored in the 1st frame of the series, and no game has had fewer than 3 lamp lighters in the 1st.

So there’s a good chance we at least push OVER 2 FIRST PERIOD GOALS (+100).

Vegas Golden Knights at Edmonton Oilers Game 4 odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Wednesday’s Vegas Golden Knights at Edmonton Oilers Game 4 odds and lines, with NHL expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Vegas Golden Knights battle the Edmonton Oilers in Game 4 of their Western Conference semifinals playoff series Wednesday. Puck drop at Rogers Place is scheduled for 10 p.m. ET (ESPN). Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Golden Knights vs. Oilers odds, and make our expert NHL picks and predictions.

Series: Vegas leads 2-1; Edmonton won season series 3-1

This series has shifted back and forth as Vegas countered Edmonton’s early goal with 5 of its own in a 5-1 shelling on Monday night. RW Jonathan Marchessault scored his 1st 2 goals of the postseason. G Adin Hill stopped all 24 shots he faced after G Laurent Brossoit exited with an injury late in the 1st period.

LW Warren Foegele scored the 1st goal of the game 2:45 into it, and the lights just cut off. C Leon Draisaitl was held without a point for the 1st time these playoffs, and C Connor McDavid didn’t notch a point for the 1st time since Game 1 against LA.

Hill has stopped all 28 shots he has faced in the series. What’s more impressive is they all came in relief when he was cold. He faced Edmonton once in the regular season and allowed 4 goals on 23 shots.

Skinner followed up his best game of the series with a stinker in Game 3. He was pulled midway through the 2nd period after allowing 4 goals on 23 shots. Jack Campbell stopped 9 of 10 he saw. Campbell came on in relief and helped Edmonton to an overtime win in LA, but they went right back to Skinner. It could go either way this time.

Golden Knights at Oilers picks and predictions

Prediction

Oilers 4, Golden Knights 3

Moneyline

We’ve cashed 7 of 9 wagers in this series, despite some unexpected outcomes. It’s a tough task to predict which Oilers team you’re going to get on a nightly basis, but the books think a bounce back is likely. Draisaitl is priced out of range at -175 for an anytime goal after he was shut down in Game 3. It’s not as rewarding, but I’m still sticking to OVER 2 FIRST PERIOD GOALS (-105) in this game.

Puck line/Against the spread

We’ve had multiple-goal finishes in the last 4 meetings now. The road team is 5-1 in the last 5 meetings between the teams, and the underdog is now 9-3 over the last 12. I think Edmonton rebounds here, but I still like Vegas to cover. For whatever reason, the Oilers couldn’t transition to the new tendy quickly.

Take the GOLDEN KNIGHTS +1.5 (-155) at the same price we cashed in Game 2.

Over/Under

It is really hard to cash an Over 7, and the books know that and make you pay a hefty vig on the Under. We’ve had 2 straight Unders as the Over is 1-2 in the series. The Under is 5-1-1 in the last 7 in Edmonton between the teams. There’s still a good chance we see 7 goals and not enough incentive to go against it.

So head to the Win/Total section, and in the 1×2 and Both Teams to Score 1 or More Goals in Regular Time: take OILERS TO WIN AND YES +100. This essentially gives you the Oilers ML at even money because Vegas isn’t getting shut out.

Vegas Golden Knights at Edmonton Oilers Game 3 odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Monday’s Vegas Golden Knights at Edmonton Oilers Game 3 odds and lines, with NHL expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Vegas Golden Knights try to retake home-ice advantage from the Edmonton Oilers in Game 3 of their Western Conference semifinals playoff series Monday. Puck drop at Rogers Place is scheduled for 8:30 p.m. ET (ESPN). Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Golden Knights vs. Oilers odds, and make our expert NHL picks and predictions.

Season series: Tied 1-1

Vegas didn’t have the same fervor as the Oilers once the puck dropped in Game 2 as Edmonton bludgeoned them for 4 goals in the 1st period en route to a 5-1 victory. VGK responded in Game 1 to an early Oilers goal with 3 of its own, but the Knights were no match Saturday. C Ivan Barbashev made sure there was no shutout with his 3rd goal of the playoffs.

C Leon Draisaitl continued his onslaught with 2 more goals to give him 13 this postseason. C Connor McDavid joined in the fun with 2 of his own. The Oilers are a crazy 14-for-25 (56%) on the power play in the postseason. One thing is for sure, the Oilers start fast, and you must match their pace without getting penalties.

Golden Knights at Oilers projected goalies

Laurent Brossoit (7-0-3, 2.17 GAA, .927 SV%, 0 SO – regular season) vs. Stuart Skinner (29-14-5, 2.75 GAA, .914 SV%, 1 SO – regular season)

Brossoit was pulled in Game 2 after 2 periods and 5 goals scored. Adin Hill came on and stopped the 4 shots he saw. The Knights should stick with Brossoit for now, but he hasn’t looked sharp in the series. He has stopped 50 of 59 shots for an .847 SV%.

When the 24-year-old Skinner is on, he puts on a show like he did in Game 2, stopping 30 of 31 shots. He has just been vastly inconsistent as that’s just the 2nd game this postseason he has allowed fewer than 2 goals. He has a 3.32 GAA and .895 SV% this postseason.

Golden Knights at Oilers picks and predictions

Prediction

Oilers 5, Golden Knights 4

Moneyline

We nailed all 3 wagers here in Game 1 and hit on 2 of the 3 in Game 2 as the Under somehow cashed after 4 1st-period goals. Speaking of such, we have had 9 goals scored in the 1st frame in the series. I’m not paying the -185 ML price on either team, but I will buy into the quick starts. Take OVER 2 FIRST PERIOD GOALS (+105), and we should at least get a push with some plus-money upside.

Puck line/Against the spread

Each of the last 3 meetings have resulted in multiple-goal finishes. However, the road team is 4-1 in the last 5 meetings between the teams, and the underdog is 8-3 over the last 11. That doesn’t mean I think Vegas will win this game, though I do think they get one in Edmonton, and they’ll keep it tight enough to have a chance to steal it.

Take the GOLDEN KNIGHTS +1.5 (-155) as the books are undervaluing them in this one.

Over/Under

The Over missed in Game 2, despite Edmonton scoring 4 times in the 1st. The total has moved up to 7 for this one, and I feel the Over will hit again, but I’m not interested in the risk.

Head to the Win/Total section and take OILERS AND OVER 5.5 GOALS +120.

Edmonton Oilers at Vegas Golden Knights Game 2 odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s Edmonton Oilers at Vegas Golden Knights Game 2 odds and lines, with NHL expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Edmonton Oilers meet the Vegas Golden Knights in Game 2 of their Western Conference semifinals playoff series Saturday. Puck drop at T-Mobile Arena is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET (TNT). Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Oilers vs. Golden Knights odds, and make our expert NHL picks and predictions.

Season series: Golden Knights lead 1-0

Vegas won the series opener 6-4 despite that Oilers C Leon Draisaitl had a heck of an outing with 4 goals and a cashed a +100 anytime goal wager for us. C Connor McDavid, LW Zach Hyman, D Mattias Ekholm and D Evan Bouchard added 2 assists each.

Vegas played a solid 60 minutes and was led by trade deadline acquisition C Ivan Barbashev with 2 goals. The Knights outshot the Oilers 34 to 27 in what we expected would be an offensive display. The Oilers were able to tie it at 3 early in the 3rd period, but Vegas scored 3 goals the rest of the period to seal it.

Oilers at Golden Knights projected goalies

Stuart Skinner (29-14-5, 2.75 GAA, .914 SV%, 1 SO – regular season) vs. Laurent Brossoit (7-0-3, 2.17 GAA, .927 SV%, 0 SO – regular season)

Skinner allowed a playoff-high 5 goals in Game 1, and he has allowed at least 3 goals in 6 of 7 playoff games this season. It’s going to be that kind of series where Edmonton will have to score 4 or 5 to win. Skinner has a 3.68 GAA and .883 SV% thus far in the playoffs and if he lays another egg, we could see G Jack Campbell.

Brossoit wasn’t particularly sharp in Game 1, but he kept everyone but Draisaitl off the board, stopping 23 of 27 shots. He has been hit or miss with 3 games of 4 goals allowed these playoffs to go with a 2.67 GAA and a .906 SV%.

Oilers at Golden Knights picks and predictions

Prediction

Oilers 5, Golden Knights 4

Moneyline

We nailed all 3 wagers here in Game 1, though I thought Edmonton would come out on top. I’m siding with them again, and the books agree with juice on their side on the road against the top seed in the West. To spice it up a bit, I’ll take OILERS ML + OVER 4.5 TOTAL GOALS (+105).

Puck line/Against the spread

Five of the last 10 meetings between these teams have ended with a 1-goal margin. The books know that and have covered their tracks with -225 for Vegas to keep it within a goal. I’d rather go back to the well with LEON DRAISAITL ANYTIME GOAL (-125). He had 4 goals in Game 1, has goals in 4 straight goals and has a ridiculous total of 11 goals thus far.

Over/Under

There have been at least 7 goals in 5 straight games these teams faced one another. There is bound to be some variance, but I don’t see it here with the way each goalie is playing. Edmonton has gone Over in 3 straight, and Vegas has gone Over in 5 of 6.

LEAN OVER 6.5 (-135).

Edmonton Oilers at Vegas Golden Knights Game 1 odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Wednesday’s Edmonton Oilers at Vegas Golden Knights Game 1 odds and lines, with NHL expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Edmonton Oilers meet the Vegas Golden Knights in Game 1 of their Western Conference semifinals playoff series Wednesday. Puck drop at T-Mobile Arena is scheduled for 9:30 p.m. ET (ESPN). Below, we analyze BetMGM Sportsbook’s lines around the Oilers vs. Golden Knights odds, and make our expert NHL picks and predictions.

Season series: Oilers won 3-0-1 in regular season.

Edmonton dispatched the LA Kings in 6 games and have been off since Saturday. The Kings were able to bottle up C Connor McDavid somewhat as he had 3 goals and 7 assists on 27 SOG. C Leon Draisaitl was a beast with 7 goals and 4 assists in the 1st round.

Vegas took care of the Winnipeg Jets in 5 games and have been idle since Thursday. Rest is good, but you have to wonder if that much time off will hinder them in Game 1. C Chandler Stephenson had a big 1st round with 4 goals and 4 assists in the 5 games.

Oilers at Golden Knights projected goalies

Stuart Skinner (29-14-5, 2.75 GAA, .914 SV%, 1 SO – regular season) vs. Laurent Brossoit (7-0-3, 2.17 GAA, .927 SV%, 0 SO – regular season)

Skinner was so-so against the Kings with a 3.43 GAA and .890 SV%. He allowed 3 goals or more in 5 of the 6 games. At one point, he was pulled from Game 4, and Jack Campbell was great the rest of the way in a 5-4 overtime win. They stuck with Skinner, but he’ll be on a short leash. He was 2-0-1 with a 3.59 GAA and .878 GAA against VGK this year.

Brossoit is a 30-year-old that spent his 1st 4 seasons with Edmonton. He only had 10 starts in the regular season, but was great against Winnipeg in the 1st round. He had a 2.42 GAA and .915 SV%, allowing 2 or fewer goals in 3 of the 5 games. He stopped 27 of 30 shots in a 4-3 victory in his only start against Edmonton this year.

Oilers at Golden Knights picks and predictions

Prediction

Oilers 5, Golden Knights 4

Moneyline

This will be an offensive series, and we’ll know early on if the 6 days between games had an adverse effect on Vegas. Both goalies are seeing their 1st real playoff action, and Skinner struggled in his 1st series. I’m picking Edmonton to take this game, but I really don’t like the -115 price on the road against the top seed in the West.

Instead, I’ll take LEON DRAISAITL ANYTIME GOAL +100. He had a goal in each of the 4 regular-season meetings and 5 total. He also had a goal in 5 of the 6 first-round games and 7 total.

Puck line/Against the spread

The Oilers’ puck line at +200 is super enticing, but I don’t trust Skinner. You’ll have to spend nearly 3 times your return to get a goal of insurance on Vegas.

Instead, I’ll take a shot at OVER 2 FIRST PERIOD GOALS (+120). I think a push is pretty safe here, and there’s plus-money upside if it hits.

Over/Under

All 4 games between the teams had at least 7 goals scored. Four of the 6 games in the Oilers/Kings series had 7 goals, and the Kings have a much-better defense than Vegas does. Only 2 of the 5 games in the VGK/Winnipeg series had 7 goals, but this will be at a faster pace.

Take the OVER 6.5 (-115).
