Tennessee at Vanderbilt: Three things to know

  1. Tennessee holds a 76-33-5 lead in the all-time series against Vanderbilt, including a 28-10 win over the Commodores last season at Neyland Stadium in Knoxville. Vandy won the previous three in the series, however.
  2. The Commodores saw PK Sarah Fuller kick off in its last game against Missouri, and she became the first female to participate in an FBS game for a Power 5 conference school. Vandy was blanked 41-0, so she didn’t get to attempt a point-after try or field goal, but the soccer goalkeeper’s chance at more history could come in this one.
  3. Tennessee has had a power outage on offense lately, going for 73 total points over its past five games. The Volunteers averaged 29.0 PPG in their first three outings, including 66 total points in their first two games, for their only wins of the season.

Tennessee at Vanderbilt: Odds, betting lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Tennessee 23, Vanderbilt 12

Money line (ML)

Tennessee (-835) put up a decent effort last week in a 31-19 loss against Florida, but not enough to risk more than eight times your potential return.

Remember, while Vanderbilt is winless, the Vols are on a six-game losing skid themselves. AVOID.

Against the spread (ATS)

VANDERBILT +16 (-110) is the lean in this one on its home field, as the Commodores look to avoid the dreaded goose egg for the season. They’re going to take that L, but Tennessee has struggled offensively, and this will be an ugly game, as you would expect between two teams with a combined record of 2-14.

Over/Under (O/U)

UNDER 49.5 (-110) is the slam-dunk play of the afternoon. Tennessee hasn’t scored more than 20 points since Oct. 10 in Georgia, and Vanderbilt hasn’t scored period since Nov. 21, getting blanked last time out. Vandy is averaging just 14.5 PPG overall, good for 125th in the nation. Its offensive highlight will be Fuller getting on the board and making history.

Previewing Saturday’s Vanderbilt Commodores at Georgia Bulldogs sports betting odds and lines, with college football betting picks, tips and predictions.

The Vanderbilt Commodores (0-8, 0-8 SEC) visit the Georgia Bulldogs (6-2, 6-2) Saturday for a 4 p.m. ET kickoff. Below, we analyze the Vanderbilt-Georgia college football betting odds and lines, with picks and predictions.

Vanderbilt at Georgia: Betting odds, spread and lines

Odds via BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports’ betting odds for a full list. Lines last updated Thursday at 10:55 a.m. ET.

  • Money line: No line posted as of this publishing
  • Against the spread/ATS: Vanderbilt +35.5 (-110) | Georgia -35.5 (-110)
  • Over/Under: 53.5 (O: -110 | U: -110)

Vanderbilt at Georgia: Three things to know

  1. Vanderbilt kicker Sarah Fuller became the first female to play in a Power 5 football game in last week’s 41-0 loss to Missouri. She didn’t get a field goal or point after attempt but did kick-off to start the second half. She is listed at the top of the depth chart this weekend.
  2. The Commodores fired head coach Derek Mason after last week’s ugly loss, and they will turn to offensive coordinator Todd Fitch as the interim head coach. Vandy has dropped 12 straight in the SEC, their longest skid since losing 23 in a row in the league from 2000-03.
  3. Georgia spanked South Carolina 45-16 last week, covering a 22-point number, snapping a 2-2 SU/0-4 ATS slide. The Over has hit in three in a row, and four of the past five overall. UGA is averaging 31.3 PPG while allowing just 20.6 PPG. The Bulldogs are third in the nation with just 75.3 rushing yards per game allowed.

Vanderbilt at Georgia: Odds, betting lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Georgia 45, Vanderbilt 6

Money line (ML)

There was no money line posted as of this publishing, probably because of the lopsided spread. It wouldn’t be worth pursuing, anyway.

Against the spread (ATS)

GEORGIA -35.5 (-110) looks to keep things going in a positive direction against beleaguered Vanderbilt +35.5 (-110). The Commodores were roughed up last week against Mizzou by a 41-0 score, so it’s uncertain how or why they will be able to perform better against a substantially stronger opponent on the road. The highlight of this one, like last week’s game, will be Fuller, and the positive attention she brings to the struggling program.

Over/Under (O/U)

UNDER 53.5 (-110) is worth a small-unit play, as the Under has hit in 12 of the past 17 overall for Vandy, and they’re coming off a shutout loss. The Under is also 4-1 in Vanderbilt’s past five on the road. Georgia has hit the Over in five of the past six, but the Under is 8-3 in UGA’s past 11 between the hedges, and 4-1 in the past five meetings with Vanderbilt.

Vanderbilt at Missouri odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Saturday’s Vanderbilt Commodores at Missouri Tigers sports betting odds and lines, with college football betting picks, tips and predictions.

The Vanderbilt Commodores (0-7 overall, 0-7 SEC) hope to get their first win of the season when they visit the Missouri Tigers (3-3, 3-3) Saturday for a noon ET kickoff. Below, we analyze the Vanderbilt-Missouri college football betting odds and lines, with picks and predictions.

Vanderbilt at Missouri: Betting odds, spread and lines

Odds via BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports’ betting odds for a full list. Lines last updated at 12:24 a.m. ET.

  • Money line: Vanderbilt +425 (bet $100 to win $425) | Missouri -589 (bet $589 to win $100)
  • Against the spread/ATS: Vanderbilt +14.5 (-115) | Missouri -14.5 (-106)
  • Over/Under: 50.5 (O: -110 | U: -110)

Vanderbilt at Missouri: Three things to know

  1. Vanderbilt got rolled last week 38-17 by Florida but covered as a 31.5-point dog. Taking a glass half-full approach to looking at Vanderbilt’s winless season thus far, the Commodores have covered three straight games and are 4-3 ATS on the season. Vanderbilt PK Sarah Fuller would become the first female to play for a Power 5 football program in college football history if she takes the field Saturday.
  2. Missouri came out of a 3-week COVID-caused bye to beat South Carolina 17-10 last week, covering as a 4.5-point favorite. First-year head coach Eliah Drinkwitz took over the Tigers program following one season as the Appalachian State head coach. Drinkwitz went 12-1 at Appalachian State and the Mountaineers were ranked as high as No. 19 last season.
  3. The Commodores snapped a 3-game losing streak to the Tigers last season with a 21-14 win as 21-point underdogs.

Vanderbilt at Missouri: Odds, betting lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Missouri 27, Vanderbilt 17

Money line (ML)

It would be a real alpha move on my part to take Vanderbilt to get its first win of the season. Vanderbilt head coach Derek Mason’s job is in serious jeopardy as he’s yet to have a winning season since taking over the program from James Franklin in 2014.

But the Commodores’ motivation to avoid going winless isn’t a strong enough angle for me to take a flyer on the underdogs. No way I’m risking nearly six times my potential return to bet Missouri.

PASS ON THE MONEY LINE.

Against the spread (ATS)

The only way to play this is taking the conference foe plus the points so I lean VANDERBILT +14.5 (-115). I don’t know what BetMGM sees in Missouri to make it even a two-touchdown favorite. Outside of Missouri’s rush defense, there isn’t a unit on either team that’s above average.

I’d even take Missouri’s rush defense results with a grain of salt considering it hasn’t play top-notch rush offenses. Vanderbilt has some trends backing it: The Commodores are 4-0 ATS in their last 4 games as road underdogs and the Tigers are 1-5 ATS in their last 6 games as favorites.

Officially, I lean VANDERBILT +14.5 (-115) for a half-unit.

Over/Under (O/U)

Give me UNDER 50.5 (-110) for 1.5 units. The Under is 6-0 in the last 6 Vanderbilt-Missouri meetings and 13-3 in Tigers’ last 16 games as favorites.

Missouri’s offensive line hasn’t gotten much push this year: The Commodores rank 114th in opponent’s line yards per carry, 106th in both opponent’s opportunity rate and stuff rate. This leads me to believe Missouri’s offense could be one-dimensional even against a terrible Vanderbilt defense.

Again, I don’t know why anyone would be confident in a Missouri pass game that is 51st in the nation in passing yards per game. Something tells me Vanderbilt’s defense shows up Saturday vs. Missouri.

Florida at Vanderbilt odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Saturday’s Florida Gators at Vanderbilt Commodores sports betting odds and lines, with college football betting picks, tips and predictions.

The Florida Gators (5-1) visit the Vanderbilt Commodores (0-6) for a noon ET kickoff in Nashville, Tenn. Saturday. Below, we analyze the Florida-Vanderbilt college football betting odds and lines, with picks and predictions.

Florida is 5th in the Amway Coaches Poll.

Florida at Vanderbilt: Betting odds, spread and lines

Odds via BetMGM; access USA TODAY Sports’ betting odds for a full list. Lines last updated Friday at 6:30 p.m. ET.

  • Money line: Florida -5000 (bet $5,000 to win $100) / Vanderbilt +1400 (bet $100 to win $1,400)
  • Against the spread/ATS: Florida -31.5 (-110) / Vanderbilt +31.5 (-110)
  • Over/Under: 67.5 (O: -110 | U: -110)

Florida at Vanderbilt: Three things to know

  1. Florida has won 12 straight games on the road at Vanderbilt. The Commodores have really struggled against conference opponents of late and have lost their last seven games overall going back to last season.
  2. Florida has one of the best offenses in college football, scoring nearly 46 points per game. QB Kyle Trask is playing outstanding football right now and is an under-the-radar Heisman Trophy candidate.
  3. On the flip side, Vanderbilt has one of the worst offenses, averaging just 16.5 points per game. The Commodores scored a combined 14 points against LSU and South Carolina earlier this season.

Florida at Vanderbilt: Odds, betting lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Florida 49, Vanderbilt 7

Money line (ML)

Florida (-5000) is a huge money line favorite in this SEC matchup, but there just isn’t enough value to feel good about this bet. Florida should and will win this with ease, but don’t consider betting the money line.

PASS and look to the spread.

Against the spread (ATS)

FLORIDA -31.5 (-110) is a monster favorite, but it’s still not giving enough points. The Gators could easily score 50 points in this game and Vanderbilt just doesn’t have the offensive firepower to keep up.

Take the Gators to cover this spread and win with ease.

Over/Under (O/U)

We have seen Vanderbilt held to single digits twice this season and it won’t help this total much. The under could still hit with Florida scoring into the 50s Saturday.

Take the UNDER 67.5 (-110) as Vanderbilt’s offense just isn’t up to par.
