Utah at Arizona picks and predictions

Prediction

Arizona 76, Utah 64

Moneyline

AVOID.

The moneyline was OTB at the time of publication. However, once it opens unless you’re confident in Utah pulling off the upset on the road, taking the moneyline in this matchup isn’t worth the risk.

Against the spread

ARIZONA -10.5 (+100) is the lean with the Wildcats playing at home. The Utes will be without their 2nd-leading scorer in G Gabe Madsen and the Wildcats will want to get revenge for the loss earlier this season.

Utah is 1-3 ATS in its last 4 games overall and Arizona is 4-0 ATS in its last 4 home games.

Over/Under

Even with the Wildcats having 5 players scoring 10-plus points per game, UNDER 146.5 (-105) is the lean. Utah and Arizona have gone a combined 12-18 to the Over against conference opponents this season.

The Utes are also 4-0 to the Under in their last 4 road games and 4-1 to the Under in their last 5 games overall.

Colorado at Utah picks and predictions

Prediction

Utah 70, Colorado 61

Moneyline

AVOID.

Colorado is just 1-7 straight up on the road. Utah could have some value if the moneyline drops to -160 or so, but we’re going to PASS.

Stream select live college basketball games and full replays: Get ESPN+

Against the spread

BET UTAH -3.5 (-115).

Colorado is the worst road-covering team in the Pac-12, posting just a 1-6-1 ATS record away from home. The Buffaloes are also the 2nd-worst covering team in conference play, just 4-9-1 ATS against Pac-12 opponents.

Utah is 8-6 ATS against conference teams. It is also 8-7 ATS as the home team. Utah has won all but 1 game this season by at least 4 points, so it is safe to assume a bet on the spread is almost virtually the same as one for it to win outright.

Considering the trends and the Buffaloes’ poor road play, back UTAH -3.5 (-115).

Over/Under

LEAN UNDER 136.5 (-115).

The Utah defense is one of the best in the nation, ranking 18th in opponents’ points per game (61.8) and 5th in opponents’ field goal percentage (38%).

The Utes have gone Under in 3 of their last 4 and have held 2 of their last 4 opponents to 46 or fewer points. Utah is 9-16 O/Y on the season while Colorado is 12-13 O/U. The teams are a combined 10-18 O/U in conference games.

Ultimately, back the UNDER 136.5 (-115).

Utah at USC odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s Utah at USC odds and lines, with college basketball expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Utah Utes (12-6, 5-2 Pac-12) battle the USC Trojans (12-5, 4-2) Saturday. Tip from the Galen Center is set for 10:30 p.m. ET (PAC12). Below, we analyze Tipico Sportsbook’s lines around the Utah vs. USC odds, and make our expert college basketball picks, predictions and bets.

Utah was destroyed by UCLA 68-49 Thursday. It failed to cover as a 13-point road underdog. The Utes are just 10-8 against the spread (ATS) on the season. They are 3-5 ATS over their last 8 and 3-2 straight up on the road. Utah’s strength is defense, ranking 4th in opponents’ field goal percentage (37.1%).

USC, on the other hand, beat Colorado 68-61 at home, covering as a 3.5-point favorite. The Trojans are 9-8 ATS on the season and 5-1 ATS over its last 6. Their strength is also defense, ranking 14th in the nation in opponents’ field goal percentage (38.2%).

Utah at USC picks and predictions

Prediction

USC 70, Utah 62

Moneyline

PASS.

USC is 8-1 at home, so it is rightly a (-230) favorite. However, Utah is 3-2 on the road. Both sides are unplayable at these odds.

Against the spread

LEAN USC -5.5 (-105).

The Trojans have, simply put, been better for bettors than the Utes recently. They are 5-1 ATS over their last 6 and 2-0 ATS at home in that span.

Utah has lost 2-straight games by double figures, one at home against an unranked Oregon. Utah is also 2-3 ATS after a loss that doesn’t bode well for its confidence on the road.

Couple the recent trends for both sides and back USC -5.5 (-105).

Over/Under

BET UNDER 134.5 (-105).

If there’s one thing both teams consistently do, it is hit the projected Under.

Utah is 6-12 O/U this season while USC is 8-9 O/U. Utah has gone Under in 2 straight and in 3 of its last 5. USC has also gone Under in 2 straight and in 3 of its last 5.

Utah ranks 255th in field goal attempts with USC at 213th which suggests this should be a slow-tempo game, and two strong defenses, the UNDER 134.5 (-105) is the better play.

Utah at UCLA odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Thursday’s Utah at UCLA odds and lines, with college basketball expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Utah Utes (12-5, 5-1 Pac-12) and No. 6 UCLA Bruins (14-2, 5-0) clash in a Pac-12 showdown Thursday night in Los Angeles. Opening tip at Pauley Pavilion will be at 11 p.m. ET (Pac-12 Network). Below, we analyze Tipico Sportsbook’s lines around the Utah vs. UCLA odds, and make our expert college basketball picks, predictions and bets.

The Utes are in 2nd place after their 1st Pac-12 loss on Saturday against  Oregon (70-60 loss as a -4 favorite). Utah struggled from distance, shooting just 14.3%, and that long-range accuracy has been a problem area. The Utes have made just 26.3% of their 3s since Dec. 13.

The Bruins lost back-to-back games in November and have won 11 straight since (6-5 against the spread). Last year’s Pac-12 runner-up has had a couple of close shaves in its last 3 games, including a 60-58 triumph over USC in the team’s last game on Jan. 5.

Utah at UCLA picks and predictions

Prediction

UCLA 71, Utah 59

Moneyline

PASS. Move along, nothing to see here with UCLA costing you 8 times your investment.

Against the spread

Against the number, this series is tied over the last 6 games, with neither side winning 2 in a row.

Utah is coming off a really shaky effort against Oregon, but that setback stands in contrast to recent games. UCLA is a lean to get by with a margin of 11-to-14 points: just not enough room to eke out any value. PASS.

Over/Under

The Under is: 5-1 in the Utes’ last 6 games following an ATS loss …  4-1 in UU’s last 5 games following a double-digit loss at home … 4-0 in UCLA’s last 4 games against foes playing .600 ball or better … 5-0 in UCLA’s last 5 games.

The strongest play is the UNDER 135.5 (-105). Both defenses rank in the KenPom top-20 in defensive efficiency. Neither side shoots a lot of 3s; UCLA makes a large percentage of its perimeter looks, but 3-point defense is a strength for the Utes. The Bruins should have some leverage in the turnover/transition and 2nd-chance departments, but in other games against comparable (or semi-comparable) opponents, the Under has hit regularly.

Rose Bowl: Penn State vs. Utah odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Monday’s Penn State vs. Utah Rose Bowl odds and lines, with college football expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The No. 11 Penn State Nittany Lions (10-2) and No. 8 Utah Utes (10-3) meet in the Rose Bowl on Monday in Pasadena, Calif. Kickoff is scheduled for 5 p.m. ET (ESPN). Below, we analyze Tipico Sportsbook’s lines around the Penn State vs. Utah odds, and make our expert college football picks and predictions.

The Big Ten representatives will have to make do without the services of leading receiver WR Parker Washington (46 receptions, 611 yards, 2 TDs). He missed the final 2 games due to injury, and he won’t play in Pasadena. On the defensive side of the ball, CB Joey Porter Jr. has also opted out. He made 23 total stops with 6 passes defensed and a fumble recovery in 10 games.

For Utah, leading receiver TE Dalton Kincaid opted out because of an undisclosed injury. That leaves WR DeVaughn Vele (50-595-5) as the next best receiver available. RB Tavion Thomas also has opted out after declaring for the NFL Draft. Thomas led the team with 687 rushing yards and 7 TDs.

Utah’s offense has scored 110 total points in the last 2 games, including a 47-24 win over USC in the Pac-12 Championship Game. However, the offense should be a little less effective without its leading rusher and receiver.

Penn State vs. Utah picks and predictions

Prediction

Utah 29, Penn State 25

Moneyline

UTAH (-120) is a strong play despite the absence of Kinkaid and Thomas. The Utes have plenty of depth, and dual-threat QB Cam Rising is just as dangerous with his feet as he is with his arm. Rising has rushed for 410 yards and 5 TDs.

Meanwhile, RBs Micah Bernard (95-474-4) and Ja’Quinden Jackson (65-450-8) are more than capable of picking up the slack left by Thomas

The pass game will likely suffer a bit without Kincaid, as the depth isn’t as great in that area, but Utah will also not have to face the likes of Porter Jr., which is helpful.

Against the spread

UTAH -1.5 (-109) is a lot cheaper if you want to lay the small amount of points. As long as this doesn’t rise above a flat 3, it’s worth the play.

Utah is 7-2 ATS in the last 9 games against the Big Ten, including last season’s wild Rose Bowl loss against Ohio State. The Utes are 4-1 ATS in the last 5 games overall, too.

Penn State +1.5 (-111) does come in on a 6-game cover streak, but it is 1-5 ATS in the last 6 games played in the month of January.

Over/Under

OVER 53 (-110) is the play, but only go as high as a half-unit.

There is a lot of concern with Penn State down a major skill position player, and Utah down its leading rusher and receiver. As mentioned, the Utes have plenty of depth, but we’ll still see a few less points than if those stars were on the field.

The Over is 5-2 in the last 7 games for Penn State; 5-1 in their last 6 neutral-site games; 4-1 in their last 5 bowl games, and 12-5 in the last 17 non-conference tilts, too.

For Utah, the Over is 4-1 in the last 5 games outside of the conference, while going 6-2 in the last 8 against teams with a winning overall mark.

Pac-12 Championship: Utah at USC odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Friday’s Utah at USC Pac-12 Championship Game odds and lines, with expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The No. 11 Utah Utes (9-3, 7-2 Pac-12) meet the No. 4 USC Trojans (11-1, 8-1) Friday at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas. Kickoff is scheduled for 8 p.m. ET (FOX). Below, we analyze Tipico Sportsbook’s lines around the Utah vs. USC odds, and make our expert college football picks and predictions.

Rankings courtesy of AFCA Coaches Poll powered by USA TODAY sports

After the Utes lost 20-17 at Oregon on Nov. 19, it appeared Utah’s hopes of a Pac-12 Championship Game appearance were dashed. But Oregon State rallied to beat Oregon last weekend, helping Utah back into the title game.

Utah has won 5 of the last 6 games overall, while going 3-1 ATS in the last 4 games. The Under has cashed in 4 of the last 5 games for the Utes.

USC is on fire, winning 5 straight games and moving into the 4th spot of the College Football Playoff rankings. The Trojans win and they’re in.

USC’s only loss of the season came Oct. 15 in Salt Lake City 43-42 against Utah, as the Utes covered a 3.5-point number and the Over easily connected.

The Over has hit in 6 in a row for USC, and QB Caleb Williams and the offense has been humming. The Trojans have posted 41 or more points in 6 straight games, and in 10 of 12 games this season.

Utah vs. USC picks and predictions

Prediction

USC 38, Utah 35

Moneyline

USC (-140) is worth playing if you don’t want to mess around with laying the points. This will be a close, high-scoring game similar to the 1st meeting in the regular-season.

The Trojans have it all on the line here, as the Heisman is at stake for Williams, a spot in the CFP is up for grabs, and all USC needs to do is win. It just so happens it comes against the only team it lost against, so this game will have plenty of drama.

Against the spread

USC -2.5 (-116) is the lean here, ever so slightly.

The Utes are 0-4 ATS in the last 4 games against teams with a winning overall record, and their last win against a winning team was against USC.

The Trojans are 5-2 ATS in the last 7 games overall, and 4-0 ATS in the last 4 against teams with a winning overall record. That’s all well and good, but USC is 1-10 ATS in the last 11 neutral-site games, so take it slow.

Over/Under

OVER 67 (-110) is the play here.

The Over easily cashed in the 1st meeting. And while the Under is 4-1 in the last 5 games overall for the Utes and 4-1 in the last 5 Pac-12 conference tilts, the Over is where it’s at here.

The USC offense has been rolling along, and the Over has hit in 6 in a row, while going 4-1 in the last 5 neutral-site battles.

Arizona at Utah odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Thursday’s Arizona at Utah odds and lines, with college basketball expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The No. 4 Arizona Wildcats (6-0) travel to Salt Lake City to take on the Utah Utes (5-2) Thursday at 8:30 p.m. ET (PAC-12 Network). Below, we analyze Tipico Sportsbook’s lines around the Arizona vs. Utah odds, and make our expert college basketball picks, predictions and bets.

Rankings courtesy of USA TODAY Sports Coaches Poll

Undefeated Arizona is averaging 97.5 points per game on the young season. A trip to Maui saw the Wildcats win 3 games while scoring at least 80 points. This included scoring 101 in the 1st round against Cincinnati.

Arizona is allowing 78.7 points per game. With the offense being so good this number is acceptable right now. But in games when the offense struggles, this is going to be a concern for the Wildcats. It will also limit how far the team can go in March if they do not fix the defense.

Utah center Branden Carlson will be tasked with defending the Wildcats and scoring on the other end. He leads the Utes in scoring at 13.1 points and rebounds with 7.7 rebounds per game. This will be a difficult game for Utah, even playing at home. The Wildcats will score often in this game.

Arizona at Utah picks and predictions

Prediction

Arizona 90, Utah 77

Moneyline

PASS.

Arizona will win this game. Taking them at -310 to do so is not worth the time. Unless it is a part of a bigger parlay bet. In that case, this should be an easy leg in such a parlay.

Against the spread

BET Arizona -7.5 (-105).

The 3-point shot is a friend to Arizona, and they will use it in this game to drag the score up. Whether Utah wants to or not. This game will not just be played in the 4,226 feet of elevation of Salt Lake City, it will also be played at elevation on the scoreboard with both teams scoring. But Arizona scoring much more.

This game should be closer to 10. Arizona -7.5 (-105) is my favorite play.

Over/Under

BET OVER 154.5 (-110).

I see both teams getting close to 80 with Arizona getting close to or over 90. I think both teams will go over their expected output and that means this game will also go over the posted total of 154.5 (-110). And that is why the Over 154.5 (-110) is the play here.

Utah at Colorado odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s Utah at Colorado odds and lines, with college football expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The No. 14 Utah Utes (8-3, 6-2 Pac-12) meet the Colorado Buffaloes (1-10, 1-7) Saturday at Folsom Field in Boulder. Kickoff is scheduled for 4 p.m. ET (Pac-12 Network). Below, we analyze Tipico Sportsbook’s lines around the Utah vs. Colorado odds, and make our expert college football picks and predictions.

Rankings courtesy of AFCA Coaches Poll powered by USA TODAY sports

The Utes check in 14th in the College Football Playoff rankings, and they still have a very good chance of a 10-win season with a victory Saturday and a possible win in the Pac-12 Championship Game and/or a bowl victory.

Utah is looking to bounce back after a 20-17 loss at Oregon last Saturday that snapped a 4-game win streak. Winning at home hasn’t been the problem for the Utes, it’s been on the road where they’ve struggled. Utah is just 2-3 SU and 1-4 ATS in 5 road trips this season.

Colorado has had trouble winning at home and on the road, as this dismal season will thankfully come to an end Saturday. The Buffaloes were boat-raced 54-7 at Washington last weekend and have lost the past 3 against Pac-12 powerhouses Washington, USC and Oregon by 38 or more points in each contest.

Utah at Colorado picks and predictions

Prediction

Utah 48, Colorado 13

Moneyline

Utah (-7000) will cost you 70 times your potential return, which is a return of just $1.43 in profit on a $100 wager. That’s ridiculous, and a poor long-term strategy.

PASS.

Against the spread

UTAH -29.5 (-109) is a huge number, especially on the road, but Colorado is atrocious.

The Buffaloes’ defense is at or near the bottom in all meaningful categories among FBS teams, including dead-last in rushing yards (236.5) and points allowed (42.8) per game. Colorado also allowed 499.9 total yards per contest, which is 130th in FBS.

Over/Under

Play OVER 52 (-109), and this might be the best play on the board.

It wouldn’t be surprising to see Utah take care of the Over without any assistance from Colorado, too. That’s how poor the Buffs are on defense.

The Over is 7-2-1 in the past 10 games for Colorado. It has scored 20 or fewer points in all but one of those games but has coughed up 42 or more points in 5 in a row, and 7 of the past 8 outings.

Utah at Oregon odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s Utah at Oregon odds and lines, with college football expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The 10th-ranked Utah Utes (8-2, 6-1 Pac-12) travel to Eugene to take on the No. 13 Oregon Ducks (8-2, 6-1) Saturday at 10:30 p.m. ET (ESPN). Below, we analyze Tipico Sportsbook’s lines around the Utah vs. Oregon odds, and make our expert college football picks and predictions.

Oregon lost a heartbreaker to Washington last week, a 37-34 decision as a 12.5-point home favorite. QB Bo Nix, who has been playing incredibly well in his first season for the Ducks, was injured late and replaced by backup Ty Thompson for a several plays.

Utah is coming off 42-7 home victory as a 23.5-point favorite over lowly Stanford.

Both teams are in position to gain a conference championship game trip with a victory. It will be a tough task though as this will be an extremely physical game.

Utah beat Oregon twice last season. The Utes won the regular-season meeting 38-7 as 3.5-point home favorites and beat the Ducks again in the Pac-12 Championship Game 38-10, this time as 3-point underdogs.

With both teams already having lost twice this season, a college football playoff berth is not in the cards, but a Rose Bowl could be for the winner.

Utah at Oregon picks and predictions

Prediction

Oregon 33, Utah 21

Moneyline

BET OREGON (+115).

Although this is a matchup Oregon usually struggles with, Utah is not the physical team of years past. This bodes well for an Oregon team that is still a finesse offense that wants to play a high-flying style.

While Utah wants to run, the Oregon defense is vulnerable in the pass game. This will limit the physical nature Utah uses.

Oregon, at home, will finally get over the Utah hump. Something it did not do last season when it lost the 2 games by a combined score of 76-17. OREGON (+115) is my FAVORITE PLAY in this game.

Against the spread

PASS.

With the Ducks being the underdog and I’m liking them to win, I would rather take their +115 ML than take 2.5 points at -108.

If backing the Oregon ML makes you uneasy, you can certainly change to the spread and the safety of 2.5 points or divvy up a full unit between the 2 options.

Over/Under

BET UNDER 61 (-110).

When the Utes play at home, they score. Utah scored at least 42 points in each of its last 3 home games. But the road is a different story — which includes a 21-17 victory at Washington State in its last road game.

With this game being played in Eugene, the result is not going to be as high scoring as the line suggests. I see a game closer to 54 than I do 61, so I’ll take UNDER 61 (-110) in this matchup.

Stanford at Utah odds, picks and predictions

Analyzing Saturday’s Stanford at Utah odds and lines, with college football expert picks, predictions and best bets.

The Stanford Cardinal (3-6, 1-6 Pac-12) meet the No. 13 Utah Utes (7-2, 5-1) Saturday at Rice-Eccles Stadium in Salt Lake City. Kickoff is scheduled for 10 p.m. ET (ESPN). Below, we analyze Tipico Sportsbook‘s lines around the Stanford vs. Utah odds, and make our expert college football picks and predictions.

Rankings courtesy of the AFCA Coaches Poll powered by USA TODAY Sports.

After a slow start, Stanford pulled within a game of .500 with back-to-back wins at Notre Dame (Oct. 15) and home to Arizona State (Oct. 22). However, the Cardinal have lost consecutive games at UCLA (Oct. 29) and home to Washington State (last Saturday) by 25 or more points, sinking to the basement of the Pac-12.

Utah is still alive and well for a possible spot in the Pac-12 Championship Game, although it needs to win out, and it needs help, too.

The Utes offense has done its part this season, going for 32 or more points in 7 of the past 8 games, while the defense has thrown a blanket on the opposition in the past 2 outings by allowing just 18.5 PPG.

Stanford at Utah picks and predictions

Prediction

Utah 45, Stanford 17

Moneyline

Utah (-2000) will cost you 20 times your potential return, or basically a $5 profit for every $100 risked. There is just no value in playing crazy moneylines like that.

PASS.

Against the spread

UTAH -23.5 (-110) comes with a little risk, as laying more than 3 TDs in a conference game is always a tall order.

However, Stanford appears to have waved the white flag in the past 2 games with a 38-point loss at home against Washington State, and a 25-point loss at USC. The Cardinal have allowed 215.9 rushing yards per game, good for 125th in the nation, and this D is yielding 31.3 PPG.

Utah is rolling up 39.0 PPG, 12th in the country, so the Utes should really be able to make Stanford’s stay in SLC an unpleasant one.

Over/Under

OVER 53.5 (-112) is the lean here, mainly due to Stanford’s D, or lack thereof.

Utah is good for 34 or more points in 7 of the past 8 outings, and it’s almost unimaginable that it won’t at least get into the 40s here. Stanford won’t have to do much to get this one across the finish line for an Over result.
