Utah Jazz at Miami Heat odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Friday’s Utah Jazz at Miami Heat NBA odds and lines, with basketball picks, tips and predictions.

The scalding-hot Utah Jazz (26-6) visit the Miami Heat (15-17) Friday at American Airlines Arena at 8 p.m. ET. Below, we analyze the Jazz-Heat odds and lines, with NBA picks and predictions.

Miami is starting to finally look like the team that represented the East in the NBA Finals last season. The Heat have won and covered four straight, which included a revenge victory over the Los Angeles Lakers on the road. Miami’s poor health luck is the main reason for the losing record.

Unless you’ve been living under a rock you know that the Jazz have been on fire since the second week of January. Utah has won 22 of its last 24 games and has covered in 21 of those wins. The Jazz just trampled the Lakers 114-89 Wednesday as 8.5-point home favorites.

Utah destroyed Miami 112-94 as 7-point home favorites back on Feb. 13, but the Heat were missing PG Goran Dragic for that game.

Heat at Jazz: Odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Jazz 109, Heat 107

Money line (ML)

PASS with a lean on the Heat (+220) since I like Miami to cover. Ultimately, it’s not enough value at the moment given Utah’s recent performance and the current injury report.

As always, make sure you wait until as close to tip-off as possible for the final injury news. If Miami’s big Bam Adebayo cannot play then it would really take a Utah stink for the Heat to pull out the victory.

Play our new free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

Against the spread (ATS)

Dragic has missed 14 of the Heat’s 32 games, and his importance to Miami’s offensive execution has been understated. With Dragic out of the lineup, there’s less floor spacing for the Heat, and according to CleaningTheGlass.com, Dragic is in the 89th percentile of guards in on-off effective field goal percentage.

Furthermore, the Jazz have the lowest defensive turnover percentage while Miami has the highest offensive turnover percentage. But, with Dragic back running the show for the Heat, my read is Miami will run some good offense Friday and will win the turnover battle in this game.

TAKE the HEAT +6.5 (-110) for 1 unit.

Over/Under (O/U)

GIMME UNDER 218.5 (-110) for a half-unit. The total has been steamed up from a 217-point opener because the more than 90% of the money is on the Over, according to Pregame.com. So a fade the market play is obvious since we all know 90% of bettors don’t make money off the House.

Additionally, Utah plays at the 22nd-fastest pace, and Miami is 23rd in pace of play. So both teams should be able to set up their defenses and force the opponent to sink tough shots.

Lakers at Jazz: Odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Jazz 118, Lakers 112

Money line (ML)

PASS on the money line in this game as the Jazz should win, but the odds just aren’t good enough. Utah has won 10 of their last 11 and they are a dominant home team, but it’s tough to ever bet against LeBron James with that sort of payout. Instead, pass on the money line in favor of the point spread.

Play our new free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

Against the spread (ATS)

LAKERS +8.5 (-115) seem the right bet in this game despite going just 1-4 ATS in their last five games. The Lakers tend to get up for nationally televised games (such as this one on ESPN) and they should be able to keep it competitive despite not having PF Anthony Davis or PG Dennis Schroder.

They will need their bench to do some of the heavy lifting on offense, but don’t be surprised if they ultimately keep this game within a possession or two.

Over/Under (O/U)

OVER 217.5 (-110) is the smart play in this game as the Utah Jazz are averaging 116 points per game this season. They are typically known for their defense (which does rank third in the NBA) but their offense has been outstanding this season.

Look for them to score close to 120 points and for the over to ultimately hit in Utah. As long as the Lakers can keep up (they should) this feels like a safe bet on Wednesday night.

The Charlotte Hornets (14-15) visit the Utah Jazz (24-6) Monday for a 9 p.m. ET tip-off at Vivint Arena in Salt Lake City. Below, we analyze the Hornets-Jazz NBA odds and lines, with picks and predictions.

Hornets at Jazz: Odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Jazz 124, Hornets 107

Money line (ML)

The Jazz (-700) sit atop the NBA standings at 24-6, which is 2.5 games ahead of the defending champion Los Angeles Lakers. You still cannot risk seven times your potential return against the lowly Hornets (+500), so look to the line instead. PASS.

Play our new free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

Against the spread (ATS)

The JAZZ -12.5 (-115) rolled the Hornets +12.5 (-105) in Buzz City a few weeks ago, picking up a 138-121 win in Charlotte as eight-point favorites Feb. 5 as the Over (224) connected. While the Hornets have been a respectable 7-3-1 ATS across the past 11 games, one of those non-covers is that Utah loss. The Jazz are heads and tails better than the Hornets, and it will show in SLC Monday.

And while these teams met infrequently, it’s important to note the Hornets are 2-10-1 ATS in the past 13 trips to Utah and 1-5 ATS in the past six meetings overall.

Over/Under (O/U)

The OVER 228.5 (-110) is a good play here. The Over is 3-1 in Charlotte’s past four and 11-5-1 in the past 17 overall. That includes the first meeting between these two in the Queen City. The Over is also 6-0 in Charlotte’s past six as a road ‘dog, and 12-5 in the past 17 against winning teams.

The Jazz have hit the Over in four of the past five in SLC, and 10-4 in the past 14 following a straight-up loss.

Utah Jazz at Los Angeles Clippers odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Friday’s Utah Jazz at Los Angeles Clippers NBA odds and lines, with basketball picks, tips and predictions.

The Utah Jazz (24-5) will take on the Los Angeles Clippers (21-9) for the second-straight game. Utah won the previous game on Wednesday night, 114-96. Tipoff for the rematch is set for 10:00 p.m. ET at the Staples Center. Below, we analyze the Jazz-Clippers NBA odds and lines, with picks and predictions.

Jazz at Clippers: Odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Jazz 121,  Clippers 114

Money line (ML)

The JAZZ (-185) continue to dominate the rest of the NBA as they have now won nine-straight games and 19 of their last 20 contests. They are an incredible 11-3 on the road this season and appear ready to take the next step as a team. Look for the Clippers to play better in this game than they did Wednesday night, but for the Utah Jazz to extend their winning streak to double-digits.

Play our new free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

Against the spread (ATS)

The JAZZ (-4.5, -105) is a little risky as the line has beefed up from 2.5 points this morning. Utah has covered in eight of their last nine road games and is 8-0 against the spread in their previous eight games. Add on the fact that they’ve covered in five of their last six games against the Clippers and it’s not hard to be on the Jazz side once again. Look for this game to be closer and likely come down to the last few possessions, but for Utah to ultimately cover.

Over/Under (O/U)

OVER 224.5 (-110) is the right play here as both teams have top-five offenses this season. While it’s uncertain who may be in or out for the Clippers, they just find ways to produce on offense. Both squads are averaging over 115 points per game to rank inside the top-four in three-point percentage. Each offense can win in so many different ways, and that is why the over feels like a good bet here.

Utah Jazz at Los Angeles Clippers odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Wednesday’s Utah Jazz at Los Angeles Clippers NBA odds and lines, with basketball picks, tips and predictions.

The Utah Jazz (23-5) stop by Staples Center Wednesday for a 10 p.m. ET tip-off against the Los Angeles Clippers (21-8). Below, we analyze the Jazz-Clippers NBA odds and lines, with picks and predictions.

Utah is running roughshod through its schedule. The Jazz have won eight in a row and 19 of their last 20 games, including a 134-123 win over the Philadelphia 76ers Monday. In addition to the impressive 19-1 record over their last 20 games, the Jazz covered the spread in 18 of those wins.

The Clippers are the second-best team in the NBA behind the Jazz by net rating. They’ve withstood injuries and absences of key players to win four straight and seven of the last 10 games.

The Jazz won their first meeting with the Clippers this season 106-100 as 3.5-point home underdogs on New Year’s Day. Utah is 3-1 straight up and ATS vs. LA since the beginning of last season and the start of LA’s Kawhi-PG era.

Jazz at Clippers: Odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Clippers 115, Jazz 110

Money line (ML)

This goes without saying but wait until Leonard’s status is confirmed otherwise this handicap goes in the trash, but I’ll SPRINKLE on CLIPPERS (+140) for a tiny wager since backing L.A. to cover is the sharper play.

Kawhi’s career numbers against the Jazz aren’t gaudy but, his shooting percentages are .503/.405/.820, and he has a plus-20 net rating in 26 career games (23 starts) against Utah.

Board Man is poking his head in on the MVP conversation, averaging 26.7 points per game on .513/.389/.879 shooting with a plus-17 net rating. An outstanding performance in an upset over Utah would help his MVP case.

Play our new free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

Against the spread (ATS)

I’m going to apply the same logic I did when accurately predicting the Jazz to beat the Clippers as home dogs Jan. 1.

Since the beginning of last season, the Clippers have been home underdogs just three times and they are 3-0 ATS with a plus-9.5 spread differential. L.A. has battled injuries recently and yet the Clippers are playing like a top-5 team regardless.

BET CLIPPERS +3.5 (-105) heavier than or instead of their money line.

Over/Under (O/U)

PASS ON THE TOTAL because the market is barrelling into the Over, which has bookmakers moving the line north. Personally, BetMGM‘s projection is too high for my prediction but my read isn’t strong enough to actually wager on it.

Philadelphia 76ers at Utah Jazz odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Monday’s Philadelphia 76ers at Utah Jazz NBA odds and lines, with basketball picks, tips and predictions.

The top two seeds in each conference meet Monday when the Philadelphia 76ers (18-9) visit the Utah Jazz (22-5) at Vivint Arena Monday. Tip-off is set for 9 p.m. ET. Below, we analyze the 76ers-Jazz NBA odds and lines, with picks and predictions.

Philadelphia has dropped two straight games entering Monday and is just 3-3 straight up and 2-3-1 against the spread since the beginning of February.

The Jazz are lighting the Association on fire by winning 18 of their last 19 games and covering the spread in 17 of those contests.

76ers at Jazz: Odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

76ers 110, Jazz 106

Money line (ML)

Let me caveat this handicap by saying there’s no way you can bet Philadelphia if Embiid, who’s listed as questionable, cannot play tonight. If Embiid is in there, I lean 76ERS (+240) for a one-fifth-unit because I like Philadelphia plus the points.

Play our new free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

Against the spread (ATS)

BET 76ERS +7.5 (-115) heavier or instead of the money line if Embiid is active. Philadelphia PG Ben Simmons has mitigated Utah SG Donovan Mitchell’s production in the last six 76ers-Jazz games as Mitchell is averaging 20.2 points per game on .350/.184/.640 shooting in those contests.

Also, this is a game where first-year 76ers SG Seth Curry can shine; Curry averaged 18.7 points on .704/.667/1.000 shooting in three games against the Jazz last season while a member of the Dallas Mavericks. The gravitational pull of Embiid’s offensive repertoire can help the shooters on Philadelphia get wide-open looks.

Finally, the best way to beat the 76ers is by taking advantage of their ball security. Philadelphia is 28th in turnover percentage and 28th in opponent’s points per game off of turnovers, but the Jazz are dead-last in defensive turnover rate and 24th in points off of turnovers per game.

Over/Under (O/U)

The 76ers need to stop the Jazz from gassing past them from behind the arc and Philadelphia’s 3-point defense against Utah has been on-point in recent years. The median for team 3-point percentage is 36.0% this season and the Jazz have shot better than 36.0% from deep just once against the 76ers in their last six meetings.

Combined with how Philadelphia’s defense matches up with Utah and the absence of Conley, I give a real shot to the 76ers at doing the unthinkable: Stopping the Jazz’s offense.

GIMME UNDER 225.5 (-105) for 1 unit.

Heat at Jazz: Odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Jazz 115, Heat 105

Money line (ML)

JAZZ (-280) feels like the right bet as Utah continues to ride a hot streak. The Jazz have the best record in the NBA and they’ve won 11 straight home games.

They have a top-six offense and the No. 3 scoring defense in the league and should be able to handle business against a Heat team that has won four straight games coming into Saturday.

Look for the Jazz to use their size and defensive prowess to win this game, likely by double digits.

Against the spread (ATS)

The JAZZ -6.5 (-110) are a good bet as they have covered in five-straight games. Not only do they have the best record in the NBA, but they have been a great home team this year, going 10-3 against the spread in 13 home games.

Look for that trend to continue as they will take on a Heat team that has covered the spread just three times in their last 10 contests.

Over/Under (O/U)

OVER 216.5 (-110) is the right play in this game given how well the Utah offense has played this season. They are averaging 115.1 points per game this season, sixth-most in the NBA. They are the No. 1 offensive rebounding team in the league and that leads to a ton of second-chance points. As long as the Heat can score around 105 points, the over should hit with relative ease in this matchup.

Boston Celtics at Utah Jazz odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Tuesday’s Boston Celtics at Utah Jazz NBA odds and lines, with basketball picks, tips and predictions.

The Utah Jazz (19-5) host the Boston Celtics (12-10) Tuesday at Vivint Arena for a 10 p.m. ET tip-off. Below, we analyze the Celtics-Jazz NBA odds and lines, with picks and predictions.

This is the final game of a five-game road trip for the Celtics who’ve been up-and-down recently. Boston is 2-2 straight up and against the spread in the first four games of this trip while being without key contributors in each of the games.

The Jazz are the hottest team in the league over the past month, winning 14 of their last 15 games and covering the spread in 13 of those 15 games. Four of Utah’s last five games were on the road and that one loss was at the Denver Nuggets Jan. 31.

These teams split last season’s series 1-1 with the road team winning each time but the Jazz are 3-1 straight up and ATS in the last four meetings.

Celtics at Jazz: Odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Celtics 114, Jazz 109

Money line (ML)

PASS with a lean on Celtics since I lean Boston to cover here. As always, the final injury report right before tip-off is important and Boston’s injuries and lack of repetition this season have led to mediocre offensive production.

Against the spread (ATS)

Conley’s absence is a bigger deal than the market is accounting for in my opinion. Conley leads the Jazz in on-off court net rating and will cause the biggest issues for Utah’s defense.

There’s no one on the Jazz who can stay in front of Celtics PG Kemba Walker and Conley was the main reason why Walker had only 13 points in the one Celtics-Jazz game he played last season.

We have to go back to April 2019 for Walker’s second-to-last game vs. the Jazz, when he still played for the Charlotte Hornets. Utah’s starting lineup that night was essentially identical to the one it’ll have Tuesday and Walker went for 47 points in that game.

I lean CELTICS +5.5 (-110) for a half-unit and would up it to a full unit if Brown can play.

Over/Under (O/U)

I lean OVER 220.5 (-110) because both teams are missing their best on-ball defenders and because of the market movement. Smart being out for Boston is an issue and Utah shoots the ball too well to expect many offensive lulls.

Additionally, the market is betting the Over heavier even though four of the last five Celtics-Jazz games have gone Under the projected line and today’s total is higher than any of the previous five meetings.

I’m not in love with this play but I’d BET a half-unit on OVER 220.5 (-110).

Utah Jazz at Indiana Pacers odds, picks and prediction

Previewing Sunday’s Utah Jazz at Indiana Pacers NBA odds and lines, with basketball picks, tips and predictions.

The Indiana Pacers (12-11) host the Utah Jazz (18-5) on Super Bowl Sunday at Bankers Life Fieldhouse for a 1 p.m. ET tip-off. Below, we analyze the Jazz-Pacers NBA odds and lines, with picks and predictions.

After having an 11-game win streak snapped by the Denver Nuggets last Sunday, Utah is back to its winning ways and has won three games in a row. The Jazz rank second in net rating thanks to the fourth-highest effective field goal percentage (eFG%) while holding opponents to the lowest eFG%.

Indiana isn’t playing well entering Sunday as losers of back-to-back games and a 1-4 record (1-4 against the spread) over the previous five games. The Pacers shoot the ball well—seventh in eFG%—but are a terrible rebounding team, ranking 29th in total rebounding rate.

These teams split the series 1-1 last regular season with each home team winning by at least 19 points. In fact, the last six Jazz-Pacers games have been blowouts with all decided by at least 19 points. Indiana holds a 4-2 ATS edge in those contests.

  • Over/Under: 225.5 (O: -110 | U: -110)

Jazz at Pacers: Odds, lines, predictions and picks

Prediction

Jazz 115, Pacers 107

Money line (ML)

PASS on the money line because no NBA team is worth this kind of risk for a straight-up win in the regular season.

Play our new free daily Pick’em Challenge and win! Play now!

Against the spread (ATS)

No one has matched up well against Utah, but this is an especially bad matchup for Indiana. The Pacers have the worst 3-point defense in the Association and the Jazz have the second-highest 3-point percentage.

The Pacers do a good job keeping teams from attempting threes but their aggressive perimeter defense comes at a cost. Indiana’s rebounding issue could put it in a real bind this game. If the Pacers’ backcourt sells out to keep Utah from torching them from three, then their guards might not be able to help grab boards.

My one major concern is Conley being sidelined with an injury because he leads the team in on-off net rating and has historically defended Pacers PG Malcolm Brogdon well.

However, the Jazz are so much deeper than the Pacers—Utah’s bench averages the sixth-most points per game compared to Indiana scoring at the third-lowest bench PPG. TAKE the JAZZ -5.5 (-110) for 1 unit.

Over/Under (O/U)

My buy price on an Over is 220.5 and there’s no way I play an Under in this game because I have more faith in Indiana’s offense putting up some points than its defense slowing down Utah and Conley’s absence impacts the Jazz’s defense more than the offense.

PASS ON THE TOTAL.
