The updated USA TODAY Sports AFCA Coaches poll after week four action.

The LSU Tigers head into week five of the season with a 3-1 record after outlasting Mississippi State on Saturday. The Tigers will host the Auburn Tigers on Saturday night. Auburn was ranked No. 23 last week before their game against Georgia State. Following Auburn, the Tigers face Kentucky, Florida, Ole Miss, Alabama, and Arkansas. Each team is currently ranked. Tough run coming up.

After another week of college football, it is time to look at the updated polls. USA TODAY Sports AFCA Coaches Poll was released on Sunday. USA TODAY Sports AFCA Coaches Poll released: Where is Georgia after week 3?

Georgia dominated South Carolina, Alabama struggled with Florida. Where did the Bulldogs land in this week’s coaches poll?

Georgia dominated South Carolina 40-13 in the SEC opener on Saturday night. The Gamecocks’ only touchdown came in garbage time with backups on the field.

Quarterback J.T. Daniels made his return from a core injury and looked great, completing 23 of 31 passes for 303 yards with three touchdowns and an interception.

The Bulldogs’ defense looked just as good as advertised. If it weren’t for that late South Carolina touchdown in the sea of Georgia reserve players, UGA still wouldn’t have allowed a score this season.

Georgia recorded three sacks, one interception and a forced fumble in the win in Athens.

It’s reasonable to think the Bulldogs’ deserve a shot at the No. 1 spot in the country due to win over Clemson and the dominant performance versus South Carolina on top of Alabama’s struggle with Florida in Gainesville.

Dawg fans will have to wait, though, as the top-four remain the same headed into week-four.

The Oklahoma Sooners stay put in latest USA TODAY Sports AFCA Coaches Poll

It may not have been pretty, but the Sooners’ win over Nebraska was enough for them to hold steady in USA TODAY Sports AFCA Coaches Poll

Sometimes the performances don’t go like we think they’ll go. Football is a strange game. A team that looks like a bad or average team one week can look like world-beaters just a few weeks later. That’s what makes assessing the Oklahoma Sooners’ performance against the Nebraska Cornhuskers so difficult.

Nebraska looked like a bad team against Illinois, but against Oklahoma, they had a great game plan for how to combat the Sooners passing attack and the offense looked functional. If not for several missed field goals and or penalties on the Sooners’ half of the field, the score in that game might look quite different.

But the Sooners pulled out the win against a Power Five opponent. And while it may not have been an impressive win from in the “eye test column,” it was a win nonetheless. If Oklahoma wins every game this season, nobody will care what the point differentials were or how they looked. All that matters is that they win.

The Oklahoma Sooners stayed at number three in the USA TODAY Sports AFCA Coaches Poll with the win and hold a narrow two-point lead on no. 4 Oregon. Each of the top five stayed the same this week

As far as the rest of the Big 12, Iowa State stayed put at 14 and Oklahoma State dropped three spots in the polls. TCU, who was on a bye is on the verge of sneaking into the top 25 as is Texas.

The Big 10 saw a lot of upward movement as Iowa, Penn State, Wisconsin, and Michigan State climbed the poll.

Florida sees small drop in USA TODAY Sports AFCA Coaches Poll after ‘Bama loss

Florida did fall after the Alabama loss, but not by much at all.

Florida came up just short of pulling off one of the biggest upsets of the college football season on Saturday, but it wasn’t punished too heavily for what was overall an excellent effort despite the loss. In the post-Week 3 update to the USA TODAY Sports AFCA Coaches Poll, Florida did fall, but only three spots to No. 12.

The Gators fell behind No. 10 Notre Dame and No. 11 Ohio State in the latest update, who they previously ranked above, and they were jumped by Penn State, who now sits at No. 8.

Still, the slight drop is a testament to how impressive the Gators looked in spite of the loss. The margin was even closer than in last year’s SEC Championship despite all the pieces the Gators lost.

UF is still the fourth-highest ranked SEC team behind No. 1 Alabama, No. 2 Georgia and No. 5 Texas A&M, and it’s got Ole Miss, who currently ranks 13th, right on its tail. Still, a couple of wins and some help from the teams around it should be enough for the Gators to get back into the top 10.

Here’s the full Coaches Poll for this week.

Penn State moves up one spot in USA TODAY Sports AFCA Coaches Poll after Week 2

Penn State made a slight move up in the latest USA TODAY Sports AFCA Coaches Poll

For the second consecutive week, Penn State managed to move up in the latest USA TODAY Sports AFCA Coaches Poll, but this week it was a minimal gain in the rankings for the Nittany Lions.

Penn State moved up one spot in the latest coaches poll, improving their ranking from No. 12 a week ago to No. 11 this week. Penn State was close to jumping into the top 10 of the coaches poll, but Penn State came in just behind two teams that took a slide ahead of them this week.

Ohio State took the biggest tumble in the coaches poll following their loss to Oregon. Oregon jumped up from No. 11 to No. 4 following their big win in Columbus over the weekend. The Buckeyes fell from No. 3 all the way down to No. 11, one spot ahead of Penn State.

Notre Dame also managed to stay ahead of Penn State despite dropping within the top 10. Even though Notre Dame is 2-0, the Fighting Irish were pushed to the wire at home by Toledo and Notre Dame’s season-opening victory against Florida State was devalued tremendously when the Seminoles were stunned at home Saturday night by FCS Jacksonville State. Penn State is within 65 points of the Irish, showing the gap between Penn State is close with Notre Dame and Ohio State for now. Penn State is 100 points behind No. 9 Florida.

The Iowa Hawkeyes are the highest-ranked team in the latest coaches poll following their big road win against in-state rival Iowa State. The Cyclones fell behind Penn State as a result, dropping to No. 14, while Iowa moved up to No. 7.

Joining Iowa, Ohio State, and Penn State in the USA TODAY Sports AFCA Coaches Poll from the Big Ten are No. 17 Wisconsin and No. 25 Michigan. Penn State’s Week 3 opponent, the Auburn Tigers, also made a big move up into the poll this week to land at No. 20 following two offensive explosions to start the season.

Now 2-0, Rutgers receiving votes in USA TODAY Sports AFCA Coaches Poll

Following Rutgers football’s win at Syracuse on Saturday, the Scarlet Knights are registering votes in the USA TODAY Sports AFCA Coaches Poll.

[mm-video type=video id=01ffdk5wq5ecmjsx0ypw playlist_id=none player_id=none image=https://images2.minutemediacdn.com/image/upload/video/thumbnail/mmplus/01ffdk5wq5ecmjsx0ypw/01ffdk5wq5ecmjsx0ypw-e4f22c72c1f8732f189b2c46cc0edd59.jpg]

Rutgers football is again receiving votes in the USA TODAY Sports AFCA Coaches Poll, this after a 17-7 win at Syracuse on Saturday.

The Scarlet Knights are off to a 2-0 start for the first time since 2014.

Last week, Rutgers received 11 votes in the poll. Following their win in Week 2 over an ACC opponent, Rutgers received 10 votes this Sunday.

There was plenty of movement in the Big Ten in the poll. Rutgers begins their Big Ten schedule in two weeks at Michigan, who check in at No. 25 in the poll after being unranked a week earlier.

Iowa moved from No. 12 a week ago to seventh in the nation after a win over Iowa State on Saturday (the Big Ten program was one of the most impressive teams in the nation this past weekend). Penn State moved up a spot to No. 12 while Ohio State, after a home loss to Oregon, crashed eight spots after being No. 3 in the nation last week.

Wisconsin, unchanged at No. 17, and the aforementioned Michigan round out the five Big Ten teams in the USA TODAY Sports AFCA Coaches Poll.

A total of four Big Ten teams did not crack the poll’s top 25 but are receiving votes: (Michigan State, 63 votes), Indiana (28), Rutgers, and then Maryland (6).

In Sunday’s AP Top 25 Poll, Rutgers did not receive any votes.

Florida stays put in USA TODAY Sports AFCA Coaches Poll following Week 2

The Gators remain in the top ten after cruising through USF.

Florida handled USF in Week 2 of the college football season despite some shakiness in the second half. The rise of Anthony Richardson continued as he the quarterback went for over 100 yards in the air and on the ground, and Emory Jones continued his inconsistent play as the starter. Following the win, the Gators remained at ninth in the most recent USA TODAY Sports AFCA Coaches Poll.

Unlike last week’s poll, two teams dropping didn’t lead to Florida rising. Oregon jumped to No. 4 after beating Ohio State and Notre Dame fell to No. 10 behind Florida after struggling with Toledo.

Alabama and Georgia remain at the top of the mountain, and Texas A&M stays put at No. 5 despite barely beating an unranked Colorado. Ole Miss crept up four spots to No. 16 and Auburn and Arkansas broke into the top 25.
