New Packers OL Jordan Morgan will wear No. 77

Offensive lineman Jordan Morgan, the Green Bay Packers’ first-round pick in the 2024 NFL draft, will wear the No. 77 uniform with his new team.

Offensive lineman Jordan Morgan, the Green Bay Packers’ first-round pick in the 2024 NFL draft, will wear the No. 77 uniform with his new team.

Morgan wore No. 77 in high school and during all five seasons at Arizona.

Kadeem Telfort, a 2023 undrafted free agent, is also still listed as wearing No. 77 on the Packers’ official roster. It’s possible Telfort could switch to No. 76, a number he wore in college (Florida) which is now open after Jon Runyan Jr. departed in free agency.

Morgan, a first-rounder, got his preferred number.

Former players to wear No. 77 in Green Bay: Cullen Jenkins, Billy Turner, Ron Kostelnik, Mike Butler, Tony Mandarich, John Michels, Adam Pankey.

Morgan made 37 starts at left tackle for Arizona. He was a two-time All-Pac 12 pick (2022, 2023) and two-time team captain. Morgan started games at left tackle during all five seasons at Arizona, including as a true freshman in 2019.

The Packers made Morgan the No. 25 overall pick in the first round.

Updating Green Bay Packers 90-man training camp roster for 2023

Updating 90-man roster for the Green Bay Packers during training camp of the 2023 season.

Between now and Aug. 29, the Green Bay Packers will need to determine the best 53 players from the offseason roster of 90.

Training camp for Matt LaFleur’s team begins with 90 players on Wednesday, July 26, the day of the first practice. By Tuesday, Aug. 29, Brian Gutekunst and the Packers need to have the roster trimmed to 53 and ready for the regular season.

Throughout the next few weeks, Packers Wire will track the 90-man roster, listing players, uniform numbers and changes made at each position group during training camp.

Note: Italics indicates a rookie. Player’s uniform number listed after name.

New Packers TE Tucker Kraft to wear No. 85

Packers third-round pick Tucker Kraft will wear uniform No. 85.

New Green Bay Packers tight end Tucker Kraft will wear No. 85 as a rookie.

Kraft, the team’s third-round pick, wore No. 85 for all four seasons at South Dakota State.

Tucker will take the number from Robert Tonyan, who wore No. 85 for the Packers from 2018 to 2022. He left Green Bay to sign a deal with the Chicago Bears this offseason.

Among the former Packers to wear No. 85: Max McGee, Greg Jennings, Wesley Walls, Corey Bradford and Phil Epps.

First-round pick Lukas Van Ness will wear No. 90, second-round pick Luke Musgrave will wear No. 88 and second-round pick Jayden Reed will (likely?) wear No. 1.

New Packers WR Jayden Reed to wear No. 1?

Will second-round pick Jayden Reed become the first Packers player since Curly Lambeau to wear No. 1 in a regular season game?

New Green Bay Packers wide receiver Jayden Reed will possibly wear No. 1 as a rookie.

UPDATE: Reed is now listed as No. 11 on the team’s website.

After beginning his collegiate career wearing No. 5, Reed switched to No. 1 for his final two seasons at Michigan State.

According to Wes Hodkiewicz of the team’s official site, Reed would become the first Packers player to wear No. 1 in a regular season game since Curly Lambeau in 1926. The number has been unofficially retired for almost a century, so it’s possible Reed will eventually need to make a change. No. 5 is also unofficially retired for Hall of Famer Paul Hornung.

First-round pick Lukas Van Ness will wear No. 90, while second-round pick Luke Musgrave will wear No. 88.

New Packers LB Jaylon Smith will wear No. 9

The Packers new linebacker will wear No. 9 in Green Bay.

The Green Bay Packers will have a linebacker wearing a single-digit uniform number.

Jaylon Smith, who officially signed with the Packers on Thursday, will wear No. 9, the number he wore for four games with the Dallas Cowboys this season.

The number was previously worn by Packers kicker JJ Molson, who is on the practice squad, but he switched to No. 11.

Smith wore No. 9 at Notre Dame. He became the first Cowboys player to wear No. 9 since Tony Romo retired in 2017.

According to Todd Archer of ESPN, Smith had to pay hundreds of thousands of dollars to switch from No. 54 to No. 9 with the Cowboys this season. He previously wore No. 54 because the five and four added up to nine.

The NFL allowed players to wear new uniform numbers starting this season, so Smith went back to his college number.

Smith becomes the first Packers defensive player to wear a single-digit number. Rookie receiver Amari Rodgers wears No. 8 and is the only offensive skill position player to have a single-digit number.

WR Devin Funchess will wear No. 11 with Packers

With 17 unavailable, new Packers WR Devin Funchess picked No. 11.

New Green Bay Packers receiver Devin Funchess wore No. 17 during each of his first five NFL seasons, but that number isn’t available in Titletown.

With three-time Pro Bowler Davante Adams already locked into No. 17, Funchess – who was officially introduced as a new member of the Packers on Thursday – picked to wear No. 11.

Receiver Trevor Davis wore the number to start last year. He was traded to Oakland in September. Later in the year, receiver Ryan Grant wore the number. He is an unrestricted free agent and isn’t expected back in Green Bay.

Funchess wore No. 17 for four years with Carolina Panthers (2015-18) and one year with the Indianapolis Colts (2019). He wore three different numbers – No. 1, No. 19 and No. 87 – while at the University of Michigan. In high school, he wore No. 5.
