Saints announce uniform combination for Monday night game vs. Buccaneers

The Saints announced their uniform combination for Monday’s night game with the Buccaneers: Color Rush uniforms with mismatched black helmets

Let’s start with the good news. The New Orleans Saints are wearing their fan-favorite “Color Rush” alternate jerseys in Monday night’s game with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, which are always a welcome sight — the gold detailing and black trim stand out well on the white uniforms, making for one of the best looks you’ll find around the NFL.

Now the bad news, which we already knew about: the Saints are also wearing their alternate black helmets for this game, using the same lids-uniforms combo that they debuted in Week 4’s game with the Minnesota Vikings earlier this year.

Look, on their own each element works well. The black helmets are a nice departure from the usual gold buckets, with a stripe of gold fleur-de-lis running down the middle separating them from other, less-inspired black helmets being worn around the league. But there’s no continuity between them and the “Color Rush” uniforms. The two pieces clash against each other and they both suffer for it.

But the Saints are committed to this bit, so we’ll just have to let it run its course. It’s just disappointing when they could have easily paired the black helmets with the throwback uniforms used a few weeks ago in a more appealing match. That’s a missed opportunity.

If you’re curious, here are the records the Saints have achieved in each of their different uniform combinations over their last 286 games (including the playoffs):

  1. “Black and Gold” throwbacks: 3-1 (.750)
  2. White jerseys, white pants: 9-4 (.692)
  3. Black jerseys, gold pants: 24-15 (.615)
  4. White jerseys, black pants: 42-27 (.609)
  5. “Color Rush” alternates: 9-6 (.600)
  6. White jerseys, gold pants: 37-25 (.597)
  7. Black jerseys, black pants: 48-36 (.571)

Seahawks to wear Wolf Gray alternates against Cardinals

Sunday will mark the fifth straight game the Seahawks have worn this uniform in Arizona, and the 8th time overall in the last 11 seasons.

Late Saturday afternoon, the Seattle Seahawks announced their uniform combo for their upcoming game against the Arizona Cardinals. Making their annual appearance, the Seahawks will be rocking the all Wolf Gray alternates.

Although not nearly as divisive as the all Action Green uniforms, the 12th Man is a little split on the Wolf Gray’s. Some love them, while others consider it to be one of the weaker options for Seattle. But what is undeniable is the success the Seahawks enjoy when letting the wolves out to play.

Since they were introduced in the 2012 season, the Seahawks boast a lofty 12-2-1 all time record when wearing the Wolf Gray alternates.

Seattle has developed a habit of wearing this combo when they travel to the Valley of the Sun to play the Cardinals. Sunday will mark the fifth straight game the Seahawks have worn this uniform in Arizona, and the 8th time overall in the last 11 seasons.

For those who are curious, here is an updated list of the Seahawks’ record in each uniform combination (postseason included) since 2012:

All blue: 62-23

All white: 6-9

All gray: 12-2-1

All green: 5-1

Green jersey/blue pants: 3-0

White jersey/blue pants: 24-17

Blue jersey/gray pants: 4-5

White jersey/gray pants 3-8

Saints announce uniform combo for Week 7 game vs. Cardinals

Saints announce uniform for Week 7 game vs. Cardinals, using their winningest combo on Thursday night:

Good news, everyone: the New Orleans Saints are rocking their winningest uniform combo in Thursday night’s game with the Arizona Cardinals. The Saints announced they’ll be wearing white away jerseys with matching white pants in Week 7, which they also used in Week 1’s road win over the Atlanta Falcons. New Orleans has achieved a 9-3 record since they introduced the all-white uniforms back in 2019.

Hopefully it adds a little juice after they struggled to close out Week 6’s game at home with the Cincinnati Bengals. With inconsistent play and so many injuries on both sides of the ball, the Saints need all the help they can get. If you’re curious or superstitious, here are the records the Saints have logged in each of their different uniforms dating back to 2006:

  1. White jerseys, white pants: 9-3 (.727)
  2. “Black and Gold” throwbacks: 2-1 (.667)
  3. White jerseys, black pants: 42-26 (.618)
  4. Black jerseys, gold pants: 24-15 (.615)
  5. White jerseys, gold pants: 37-24 (.607)
  6. “Color Rush” alternates: 9-6 (.600)
  7. Black jerseys, black pants: 47-35 (.575)

Vikings unveil icy uniform combo for Monday Night Football

An ice storm is coming to Philadelphia Monday night

The Minnesota Vikings are set to take on the Philadelphia Eagles on Monday night football. With a 7:30pm central kickoff, the temperature will continuously get colder through the night.

While the temperature is projected to be 80 degrees at kickoff, the Vikings will be lowering the temperature on the field with this icy uniform combo.

The all-white uniform has been a staple for the Vikings on the road for the past few seasons and it is crisp and clean.

The look has been around for some time with some of the best looks having been rocked by the Randy Moss-era Vikings in the early 2000s.

The Eagles better be ready to feel the cold shoulder when the Vikings take the win at Lincoln Financial Field.

Saints announce Week 18 uniform combination vs. Falcons

Saints announce Week 18 uniform combination vs. Falcons

The New Orleans Saints announced their uniform combination for Week 18’s game against the Atlanta Falcons: white jerseys and gold pants. So be sure to dress accordingly if you’re making the trip to Atlanta’s Mercedes-Benz Stadium.

These gold pants have been controversial among fans and players, owing to the light color shading resembling khaki better than gold. And they were shelved altogether for a few years after Drew Brees suffered an injury to his throwing hand in Week 2 of 2019 against the Los Angeles rams — while wearing gold pants. Team captains vote weekly on each game’s uniform combo, and it took a while for any superstition around the gold pants to fade.

For the curious, here is the winning percentage the Saints have achieved in each of the different uniform combos they’ve worn during the Sean Payton era, dating back to 2006 (including the playoffs):

  1. White jerseys, white pants: 8-3 (.727)
  2. Black and Gold throwbacks: 2-1 (.667)
  3. Color Rush alternates: 9-5 (.643)
  4. Black jerseys, gold pants: 24-14 (.632)
  5. White jerseys, black pants: 42-26 (6.18)
  6. White jerseys, gold pants: 35-24 (.593)
  7. Black jerseys, black pants: 46-33 (.582)

Oregon Ducks unveil white and green uniform combo for road game vs. Stanford

The Ducks will be wearing a classic white and green look for their big road game vs. the Stanford Cardinal.

Once again, the Oregon Ducks announced some heat on a Thursday afternoon.

With a big road trip to Stanford on Saturday, the Ducks announced that they will be wearing a classic mix of white and green against the Stanford Cardinal, with white tops and helmets, and green pants.

For Oregon fans that are keen on this, you could have seen a uniform combo like this coming.

Last week, the Ducks Twitter account posted a Throwback Thursday video that had Oregon wearing apple green uniforms with black pants and a black helmet. Hours later, they released images for Saturday’s uniforms vs. Arizona, which, of course, featured green uniforms with black helmets and pants.

So Thursday’s video of white uniforms with green helmets was certainly telling…

The Oregon Ducks have a storied rivalry against Stanford, and it’s not surprising that they will try and look the best while attempting to stake their claim as the best team in the Pac-12 North.

NFL Week 3: Saints choose white jerseys, white pants vs. Patriots

NFL Week 3: Saints choose their winningest uniform combo vs. Patriots

[sendtonews_embed video_id=”DHza32CaRM-1526385-7498″]

The New Orleans Saints have announced their Week 3 uniform combination, and it’s the winningest combo in their arsenal: white jerseys with matching white pants. The all-whites have been broken out eight times, with the Saints achieving a 6-2 record while wearing them. While the black-on-black uniforms have been worn for a team-leading 46 victories, these have a better winning percentage (.750).

Of course that doesn’t mean they should expect a win on Sunday. The New England Patriots are a tough out for anyone, even with a fresh-faced quarterback under center. The Saints have real flaws that need correcting, and Patriots coach Bill Belichick will do everything he can to frustrate them.

For the curious, here is where each Saints uniform combination ranks in win percentage since Sean Payton was hired to coach the team, way back in 2006:

  1. White jerseys, white pants: 6-2 (.750)
  2. “Color Rush” alternates: 8-3 (.727)
  3. “Black and Gold” throwbacks: 2-1 (.667)
  4. Black jerseys, gold pants: 23-14 (.622)
  5. White jerseys, black pants: 41-25 (.621)
  6. Black jerseys, black pants: 46-30 (.605)
  7. White jerseys, gold pants: 33-24 (.578)

Saints announce uniform combo for playoff game vs. Bucs

The New Orleans Saints will wear black home jerseys and matching black pants for their playoff game with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

Dress for a funeral on Sunday. The New Orleans Saints announced that they will be pairing their black home jerseys with matching black trousers in their Divisional Round playoff game with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

It’s fitting, given the single-loss elimination nature of the tournament. One team is going to advance further in the playoffs. The other will see their season end, burying their Super Bowl aspirations. Hopefully, it’ll be Tampa Bay going home defeated.

Here’s the win-loss records achieved in each of the different combinations used since Sean Payton was hired to coach the team back in 2006 (including the playoffs), ranking by win percentage:

  1. White jerseys, white pants: 6-2 (.750)
  2. “Color Rush” alternates: 8-3 (.727)
  3. “Black and Gold” throwbacks: 2-1 (.667)
  4. Black jerseys, gold pants: 23-13 (.639)
  5. White jerseys, black pants: 41-25 (.621)
  6. Black jerseys, black pants: 46-29 (.613)
  7. White jerseys, gold pants: 32-24 (.571)

Saints wearing their winningest uniform combo for Week 14 vs. Eagles

The New Orleans Saints are pairing their white away jerseys with matching white pants for Week 14’s road game with the Philadelphia Eagles.

[sendtonews_embed video_id=”phbegJkBpM-1069469-7498″]

The New Orleans Saints announced that they will be wearing white away jerseys with matching white trousers in Sunday’s game with the Philadelphia Eagles, continuing their streak of games played without the gold pants that were a staple for much of the Sean Payton era.

For his part, Payton is forwarding questions on that to the team captains who make uniform decisions. We haven’t seen the gold pants since Week 2 in 2019, when Drew Brees went down with a thumb injury against the Los Angeles Rams. Maybe the team’s leadership feel it’s bad luck.

Anyway: this week’s combination has the best win-loss record of any set used since Payton took the job back in 2006. That should superstitious fans (and maybe players) happy. The full rankings:

  1. White jerseys, white pants: 6-1 (.857)
  2. “Color Rush” alternates: 7-3 (.700)
  3. “Black and Gold” throwbacks: 2-1 (.667)
  4. Black jerseys, gold pants: 23-13 (.639)
  5. White jerseys, black pants: 41-25 (.621)
  6. Black jerseys, black pants: 45-28 (.616)
  7. White jerseys, gold pants: 31-24 (.564)

Saints to dress for a funeral in Week 10 matchup with 49ers

The New Orleans Saints announced their uniform combination for Week 10’s matchup with the San Francisco 49ers: black home jerseys and pants.

[sendtonews_embed video_id=”AGHmz33KJK-1036276-7498″]

Be sure to wear your “Sunday best,” because the New Orleans Saints will be. The team announced their Week 10 uniform combination for Sunday’s game with the San Francisco 49ers at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in an email to season ticket holders: black jerseys and matching black pants.

It’s the fifth time the Saints have used this combo in 2020, having twice paired white jerseys with black pants and worn their “Color Rush” alternates in two games. Brand-new linebacker Kwon Alexander said Saturday that he’ll be playing “full go,” against the team that traded him to New Orleans just weeks ago, and he’ll be wearing No. 58.

And here is the record for each uniform worn by the Saints since Sean Payton came to town in 2006, for the superstitious (or those who are just a little stitious):

  1. White jerseys, white pants: 5-1 (.833)
  2. “Color Rush” alternates: 7-3 (.700)
  3. “Black and Gold” throwbacks: 2-1 (.667)
  4. Black jerseys, gold pants: 23-13 (.639)
  5. White jerseys, black pants: 40-25 (.615)
  6. Black jerseys, black pants: 44-28 (.611)
  7. White jerseys, gold pants: 31-24 (.564)
